The hotel is part of premises that include a large pub with an outdoors area, probably the largest venue within a radius of a few kilometres. If you fancy a beer after your check-in, this is the place to have it. The room was clean, just bear in mind that they're next to the street so you may hear some traffic noise in the morning.
The hotel gets staffed after 10 am, so that may be a problem if you're checking out early. I didn't ask about checking out and there was no drop-off key box that I could see, so I gave the key to a member of staff who happened to be there to prepare the venue for the day. I may have had to wait until 10 if no one was there at that time.

I stayed there 8yrs ago for a night just with my Son who was 7wks old at the time and it was renovated and a bit scary to be honest. Lovely place now, room well done (in fact I think we stayed in the same room) love the kids park straight out front and the Restuarant was lovely….well done !
I have a broken ankle and I’m on crutches and camboot so the big step into the room was a bit hard and the in level footpaths from the carpark to the room made me nervous

The staff were lovely, the room is spacious, clean and well decorated. Located right on the Esplanade . The band on Friday night was great
Didn't worry me but this is a popular and busy pub. They have live music Friday and Saturday night. We were there on a Friday, the band finished at 10:30 and it was all quiet after about 11:00, but if you are after an early night you might choose somewhere else

Central location, allowing us to walk to different locations. WWE have been to the hotel before.
After the live music, we didn’t haves a problem with the music, it was after that people were yelling, talking loud until almost 1am. Car doors banging, disappointed with this behaviour.

The location, friendly staff, outside kids playground, the live music, room cleanliness, overall atmosphere with the little lights in the garden and the benches. The view just outside the hotel in the early morning was just beautiful.
Would have been great if the bathroom doors shut properly.

The rooms were modern, very clean and well-appointed. The pub itself was a well set-out and had a family-friendly atmosphere, including the playground, which our kids loved. The hotel is in a very convenient location too, with the ferry to Nelson Bay departing directly-opposite. The food served in the hotel bistro, while a little on the pricey side, was delicious and there's a good bakery and ice cream shop nearby.
The mattresses were a bit uncomfortable but not terrible. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and had a rowdy group sit directly out the front of our room one night. However, it's to be expected staying at a pub and they left around 10:30

Excellent spot in front of the water, room was nicely decorated and spacious. Beds comfortable
We had kids doing knock and runs most of the first night, pouring salt and ripped up plants on our doorstep. But other than that was a nice place to stay

Super clean, lovely staff, cute room, comfy beds.
Appreciate that we were there on a Friday night but car park was full so we couldn’t park on property. Also, band was due to finish by 10.30pm and didn’t until just after 11pm which is quite late when that loud.

Close to shops and good restaurant.
This was our 3rd stay and it was just ok. We arrived an hour early and was told to wait for an hour to check in. We waited, after an hour we went back just to be told there is no one to assist us for the person in charge went to the bank. Kitchen staff was not so friendly, food is good but a bit pricey.
