Staying with Sue and Patrick is a unique experience. The birds and musky rat kangaroos that they have rescued are a treat to see up close. The cottage has impressive African decor from their travels. That, combined with the tropical landscape makes you feel like you’re in an exotic location. We brought our own food to make dinner and the kitchen was more than adequate to prepare a nice dinner. We wished we could have stayed longer than one night.

The wifi didn’t work for us.

The breakfast was excellent and ample, and to have it delivered to the room by cockatoo is unique in my experience. Sue and Patrick are fine and interesting hosts - inveterate travellers themselves and wildlife carers. Feels very private and in the middle of the rainforest even though there are other properties nearby. Quirky African-themed decor is fun.

The drive is quite steep and some less mobile visitors might struggle with it. Having a car (own or hired) is pretty much essential. Wifi reception not great in rooms furthest from kitchen.

This is like staying at a retreat. Such a beautiful fully detached cottage set in the rainforest. All the facilities, hear the birds and a beautiful verandah area to relax. Patric and Sue were the most amazing hosts. Their love of Africa adds to the charm of the stay. From filtered and bottled rainwater to drink to having a space to cook and make our own meals, this was a wonderful stay.

Wifi seemed to drop out at night

I love the fact that the property is on 1 acre of pure rainforest so lots of animals around and its beautiful. The people were super friendly and allowed me to sit on their balcony to watch the birds come in. There are 2 separate bedroom with an ensuite in the middle. The other bedroom was blocked off so no one else could book while i was there and the whole house i had for myself which was awesome! Breakfast was really generous.

Sue and Patrick have spared nothing to make this the perfect stay in this beautiful environment a short drive from Kuranda township, and only 30' from busy Cairns yet a world away in this rainforest/garden environment. The bungalow is equipped with excellent cooking facilities if you would like to do your own meals, but close to Kuranda restaurants. Very tastefully decorated with an African theme. A very welcoming and friendly couple.

Sue and Patrick were extremely welcoming and showed us their wildlife sanctuary with extra welcoming from their birds( their cocky just loved my wife!). The accommodation was excellent with luxurious setting right in the forest. Everything was spotless and we couldn't recommend this place enough.

Everything! Everything about the property made it difficult to leave. Sue and Patrick are wonderful people with lots of interesting life experience to share. They kindly sat with us and shared a lot about the wildlife found in their gardens and we had the chance to interact with their birds. The accomodation and the rainforest in which it is set is just beautiful. I'm really grateful to have booked here and crossed paths with two wonderful people whilst experiencing the delights of Ngorongoro Lodge. Thank you so much Sue and Patrick - all the best!😊

Not being booked in for much longer. I think if you can stay at this property for a longer time, you will get to see lots of incredible wildlife!

On arrival we were greeted and welcomed as if we were family by Susan and Patrick. We were assisted with our luggage and shown to our accommodation. The property is quite unique with a strong african theme everywhere you look. Once you enter the property you are surrounded by lush gardens with incredible bird life, of which Patrick especially is very keen to and share with everyone. The lodge itself has to be seen to be believed, their interesting well traveled life is on display everywhere you look, I felt like I was in another country. As we sat at the breakfast table we were enthralled by their conversation and a life far removed from our own. The accommodation is very clean and welcoming, which is a testament to Susan's standards and hard work. When we were leaving it felt like we were saying goodby to our best friends. A stay at Kuranda Ngorongoro Lodge will not disappoint, and will have you wanting to visit again.

The place is amongst natural rainforest with lots of fauna there is a swimming pool to cool off the hosts are lovely and helpful if you wish to experience tranquility it's a place to stay.

Nothing really apart the fridge could be upgraded we enjoyed our stay. Thank you to our hosts Sue and Patrick

Sue and Patrick are fantastic hosts. I was travelling to Cairns the next day from further west and the Lodge was the perfect stop. I really enjoyed having the breakfast tray so I could cook my breakfast when ready the next morning. The surrounds are quiet and very peaceful.

There was one last minute cleaning job to be done. Sue addressed and resolved the minor issue quickly.
