On The Beach

Beach front location with beach access across the road where netted area and beach showers are. Dated but quiet building with lift, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with balcony facing sunrise (actually next building to On the Beach, called Seashell boutique apartments). Sound of ocean waves 24h. Very comfortable bed. Good hot shower and pressure. Well positioned near Il chiosco cafe with excellent coffee, brunch, lunch and dinner options and 'main' shops (pub, convenience store, NV Cafe and Italian restaurant). Bus stop for 111 bus is also near main shops and takes you to Cairns for $4.20 (1h trip) or to Smithfield shops (has Coles and Woolworths) for $3 (1/2 h trip), bus only accepts cash and stops and timetables are easy to navigate by downloading Moovit app. Friendly locals and no riff raff. Very enjoyable stay.

Air con didn't work on arrival, so during the first night the heat was unbearable but issue was resolved the following day. Dated decor and furnishings, old carpet in bedrooms, peeling laminate from bathroom cabinets. Microwave didn't work. No washing sponge in kitchen. No box of tissues. No USB bedside charger. Extended episodes of rain resulted in debris and brown water at the beach, probably runoff from the river which isn't far away. There was a 1m crocodile sighting one afternoon which closed the beach for the afternoon. The locals had seen it swim away so no one was worried. There have been stingers at the beach but fortunately no stings experienced by our family despite daily swims.

Even though we could not stay here for our stay due to unforeseen circumstances, (Broken Air Conditioner) which was not the property's fault. Old unit and had just gone through Cyclone Dec 2023. The Manager Gerald was very apologetic and rang around to get us another apartment close by which he did at the same cost for what we had paid and close by within walking distance as we had family staying in another room at "On the Beach" to spend Christmas together. We stayed one night the location was excellent, apartment was very roomy and spacious and very clean. We had our 3 grandchildren with us well laid out apartment. Pool was very close and beach just across the road. With in walking distance to some great cafes and restaurants. Would definitely recommend On the Beach. We will definitely book with them again.

The only thing was that our rooms were not in the same block as our other family members. There are 3 separate blocks of apartments. But on saying that we had booked our apartment beginning of year and second one was booked after mid-year. Just in future I would ask for apartments to be near each other as being Christmas we wanted to use the Bar-B-que facilities and swim in the pool together with spa. That was the three main things we were after. But not On the Beach apartment's fault. So definitely not complaining unforeseen circumstances at this time of year. Cyclone Jasper 2023.

absolutely loved the location straight across from netted area on the beach, loved the view and vibe from our veranda, pool was beautiful and clean hardly anyone using it felt like our own private pool, our apartment was everything we needed with plenty of room and clean, bed was very comfortable,hot showers with good pressure

a bigger fridge freezer would off been good but it was manageable considering we only stayed a week we were made aware of size when booking so was not a problem,only other thing to consider is the steps to climb to room once again we’re aware of them when booking it wasn’t to difficult to manage, if you struggle with step choose ground floor

The beachfront view was excellent. the apartment was very spacious with two bathrooms. and spacious bedrooms.

The wifi was terrible. Couldn’t browse anything literally.

From the moment we arrived we knew we would enjoy our stay here. We were greeted by the friendly receptionist Chris who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with answers to our questions throughout our stay. Our apartment was well presented and clean although a little outdated. The grounds and pool were well cared for and also cleaned daily. We used the BBQ a couple of times and this area was also maintained well ready for the next user. We left out apartment with the parting words 'we will be back here to stay'

The apartment furnishings could do with a freshen up. But this is minor.

my partner and i stayed at the appartments for 8 days and where happily pleased with everything when we arrived. Everyone was as expected exactly like the photos, lovely view of the beach which is less than 40m away from the appartments, the rooms where cleaned and fresh towels halfway through our stay and good aircon in the living and kitchen area.

They had salt and pepper shakers in the apartment but their was no salt or pepper so we had to buy our own, the shower did not heat up all the time and if it did, it didn't always stay warm for long either. The aircon in the bedroom was a tiny small little ventilation that didn't make that much of affect during the night when its quite humid but was bearable. The wifi was absolutely terrible as theirs no phone service in the area at all you had to sit on the edge of the couch in the living room to get the wifi to connect and the tv then wouldnt work and you couldn't use netflix ect as the wifi was that bad.

Location was excellent. Beachfront and walk to cafes, restaurants.

The units are individually owned and therefore the upkeep, maintenance, decor is dependent on how attentive the owner is. I didn’t give a full 10/10 rating as our unit did have things that should have been attended to - it appears the shower recess floor needs to be waterproofed again as the carpet outside the bathroom floor was constantly wet. The filter of the air conditioner unit also needed to be thoroughly cleaned. However, I did advise the Manager and he was attentive to make sure the owners address these issues.

Location location location! Loved the large verandah perfect for a group

Nothing -all fantastic. Some feedback however to make the guests stay more enjoyable - more than one key would be easier if group goes out separately - a spare blanket for each room, only one room had one / air con was very cold even on lowest setting - a few doors, cupboards & the bidet need some tlc - startup pack would be helpful - one or 2 sachets for washing machine & dishwasher would be handy until one can buy some, hand dish washing liquid poor quality making effective wipe die n of surfaces & dishwashing with fatty pans difficult

Location is great and view from balcony is spectacular. Pool area is lovely. Bed very comfortable and plenty of wardrobe space. Sufficient crockery and cutlery.

Interior of apartment needs carpet cleaned, walls repainted and sliding door into bedroom is jammed. Tiny ants everywhere each day so fumigation required. Insufficient towels, soap, toilet rolls provided for 1 weeks stay however reception we’re happy to give us more when requested.

The property’s location was on the money and a big attraction. The staff was very helpful and the room was definitely comfortable.

I have a bit of an OCD personality and cleanliness is very important. We walked into the apartment with water in the entry hall going into the bathroom to find out that the fridge was turned off. That sort of put me off. we had no choice but to clean it up with the chucks wipe and tea towel. I think a little more work needs to be put into cleaning out the apartment before the next arrivals.
