We got upgraded to a private room as they had it available and we were there for a week, which I greatly appreciated as they didn’t have to do that. It was a big double bed and very comfortable. People in the hostel were really nice, and there was a places to chill downstairs and upstairs. The location was really good. A bus stop is literally right outside your door and public transport is really cheap. There’s also a free bus near by. Staff were really good at informing us at check in about all the good to know stuff!

Kitchen was a little small, and they could do with more fridges, and a freezer would be great but I feel like this problem is just standard for hostels lol. Staff though nice weren’t super quick when it came to sorting issues. We ran out of toilet paper in all 5 bathrooms upstairs and I told staff who said they would fix it but many hours later after we came back from being out all day it still wasn’t fixed. I managed to find extra in the disabled toilet and thankfully the cupboard with loo roll was unlocked so I managed to top up all the toilets without toilet paper.

Staff were very friendly and approachable. Had a great two nights on the balcony with some nice people. I felt very relaxed and happy.

A couple of small things that definitely needed some form of maintenance/attention. No real dramas apart from a shower not getting the right water pressure, simply used the shower next door which worked a treat.

The lady in charge was amazing, silver or little issue and when we mentioned the next day to a counter staff member that the front door key didn’t work, she dealt with it straight away.

The front door key to the backpackers didn’t work, we were lucky that someone else that was staying there came in and we got in that way. It was 11pm at night. There was no after hours phone number to call. Maybe a code system might work better. I suggest checking that the key works before you leave the hostel to go out.

Rob is amazing at welcoming people to the hostel, and is always available for any questions or help. There is a real community feel in the hostel. I instantly felt welcome. I never felt like I was just another body in a bed. There is a big balcony as well as a few other social spaces. It's not a party hostel, quiet and monitored at night and usually low key in a quiet area but with the occasional event, BBQ or birthday to celebrate. Check out their Instagram! 10 minute walk in a straight line to the middle of the CBD, with an IGA next door. Definitely going back to stay. It's brilliant.

Good cheap hostel in a top location, surrounded by bars and restaurants and a 20 min walk from the CBD but with bus stops all around as well, Room was clean and tidy as was the Kitchen facilities. Nice little communal area with Darts board and a tv, staff were excellent, friendly and helpful even with things like helping the both of us find work, would recommend to anyone travelling Australia as I had no faults whatsoever.

Staff was amazing. People were welcoming. Atmosphere and people were so nice. Seriously nevermind the the place, a bit rundown, when people are so amazing. Also, it's really not that bad, just a bit old and sometimes unclean. Nothing a traveller haven't seen before.

A bit scruffy. Nothing major though, but if you're the cleanest person this is not for you.

I loved staying here, the staff and backpackers were like family and the hostel manager always had your best interests at heart, I would highly recommend staying here, I only planned to stay for 2 weeks but I’ve been here 3 months!

Affordable. Location had both good and bad points. The air conditioning was excellent, important at 40°C!

Quite an old property, but everything was okay and the price reflected the wear.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Great location , staff are friendly and felt my belongings and I were safe here.

I would have liked lockers in the room just for extra security but other than that my trip was great :)

Small hostel run by the friendly manager Rob that will do everything to make your stay enjoyable. Great location in small community Hutt street, 10 minutes away from City center by free bus.

Maybe a toaster or a oven in the kitchen would be great.
