We have stayed at the Mayfar a few times now and love it for its location and affordable room rates (this may change when Dark MoFo is on!) It is so close to the North Hobart dining precinct and a very short Uber ride to Salamanca. I love that the bathroom had a bathtub. It is located in a quiet, residential area so no noisy groups or parties happen nearby. The view is great from the front of the property (or off the balcony) and you can see out over the water to the Casino and it looks amazing at night.

There's nothing we don't like but The Mayfair is an older establishment and does need a bit of a revamp and some modernization but it's clean, safe and all the staff are lovely.

This motel, although an old building was very comfortable, nice armchair, TV, microwave etc. Bed was very comfortable. It was nicely positioned near the restaurant street but away from any noisy traffic. I would stay there again when in Hobart.

Some more milk in the fridge, only 2 plastic containers of milk, hardly enough for a cup of coffee. As there were no shops apparently in walking distance of the motel, this was not enough for one person on an overnight stay.

Property is only a short downhill walk to the city and to the waterfront area . Apartment was comfortable with unique stylising and it was interesting reading about the heritage of the property . Beds were very comfortable

Could do with some minor upgrades . Wall paper peeling , shower doesn’t give good hot water , everything is just a little drab and could use a makeover

We stayed in a family room with a double and 2 singles. It was a quirky room with old fashion decor and a great shower and spa. Staff were great and it has washing facilities. It was warm and cozy.

Would be great if the fridge was bigger- especially in a family room. It was a tiny box style but everything else was clean and comfortable.

This is a gorgeous quaint hotel in a central location that offers easy access to seafood restaurants, wonderful villages and beautiful Bruny Island. We booked a small unit, which included kitchen facilities and separate bathroom. The host was really sweet and welcoming, service was flexible, warm and friendly, parking was plentiful and the unit was perfect for a short stay ...very quiet and private. If you are staying there make sure you have breakfast at the Rendezvous Cafe at the wharf ... good breakfast and a fabulous pay-it-forward process

This hotel was beyond expectations. Although it says motel, it was super comfortable, great service, good stock of tea/coffee. Sufficient parking space and amazing view of the mountain and terraced houses in the town. Very close to botanical garden by car. They even went out of their way to provide us a bottle of milk when we needed extra and there was no time for us to explore after long drive on the given day. Truely impressed :)

Older classic style, generous room. Beautiful views from Wrest Point Casino to Mount Wellington / Kunanyi. Staff where very helpful, it was no trouble to request more cutlery, dishes and fresh towels when asked. Short distance from Hobart CBD and wharf front where so many activities start.

Friend and I did not arrive with a vehicle and walked to and from activities. Be prepared, Hobart is a very hilly suburb and there is a good hill to climb although the view is lovely on a clear day.

Proximity to city, competitive price. Room was overall clean and comfy - Not on the "modern" side feel wise but depends what you are looking for overall. Parking on site. Friendly staff

Carpets, seem very old. I know it's meant to go with the feel of the place / room but think that could use revamping while maintaining the overall feel. Was on the hilly side of Hobart which we didn't actually realise. Luckily bus stop just a few meters away that we use on number of occasion when heading back from city.

The motel has all you need to spend some quiet days in Hobart and live a more local side of the town. The city centre is 20 minutes away on foot, it is a lovely walk across residential neghbourhoods and detached houses. The room has all comforts and the quietness of the area is definitely a plus. Parking is widely available and the location is rather convenient to explore the Hobart region

If you want to reach the motel walking up from the city centre, it is a good hike carrying heavy suitcases, it is probably best done by cab. The room, as well as the whole motel, is a bit outdated. Furnishing needs a deep revamp

We knew this was an old style hotel, booked for one night for its location & rare ability to accommodate our family of 5. I was so impressed with how fresh, clean and comfortable we found each of the beds, I could tell the kids quilts in particular, were freshly laundered and the lounge suite also felt clean. I have paid substantially more for accommodation that was not as clean or well maintained. Yes, as can be expected, the kitchen is dated but it has the essentials and importantly was clean, as was the bathroom. It was apparent that staff care about the service they are providing and we really appreciated this.
