Location, parking (for a fee), quiet, nice light breakfast, staff were very good, rooms were serviced daily, happy hour, the novelty of sleeping in a stylised shipping container, a valuables’ safe, in-room coffee machine. Would definitely come back. Very comfy bed. Good heating.

I’ve been in smaller hotel rooms in Japan than this stylised shipping container and seen there better use of a small space to provide more amenity: a proper chair to sit on (not a metal stool), better organised place to put bags, more efficient bathroom with robe hooks etc. For all the novelty of being in a shipping container, it is a fun idea that needs a bit more thought on how it can be better utilised. Asking for some milk in a little jug at reception each day seems a bit silly when some could be in the room fridge, like most places.

Excellent location in Fremantle, love the view from the lift lobby and seeing the huge mural over the car park, very cool. Like the nautical feel and breakfast was simple but delicious. I particularly liked the muesli. I really like the 11am checkout. This gave us a chance to explore Freo markets after breakfast before we had to check out.

I understand Fremantle is in the shipping and dock area, however, we did not expect to have the harbour 6am horn blow for a good 2 minutes, but then anywhere you stay in Fremantle would also have this, its not a fault of Hougoumont Hotel, but nice to know what to expect.

Location was good and convenient … just off The main st . …and they did a cheese and wine happy hour at the bar next door 5-6pm.

Breakfast was a bit underwhelming… toaster Didn’t work so well and there was no cooked option… which for the price of the rooms was Disappointing.Also people working on laptops took up some of the breakfast tables instead of using the laptop shelf area provided for them. Also the rooms were a bit too small and compact For two people .

The staff were great, friendly and helpful.

Interesting lay out and give the construction of rooms very interesting from a design point of view. It was a daily event to go to the open bar for the complimentary wine/beer and cheese happy hour before exploring the restaurants just around the corner on the main tourist area. It's local to the railway station was a plus too.

The rooms were comfortable and modern. The small touches of free light breakfast, afternoon tea of cheese and wine and free coffee were a nice extra that added to our enjoyment of the hotel. The hotel is in walking distance to the ferry, attractions and restaurants. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.

Bathroom was a little on the small side. It wasn't an issue but may be for some.

We opted for the Queen Deluxe room which was a comfortable size for a couple. The bathroom was small but this was expected from the advertisement.

The rooms are not soundproof as advertised. We were able to hear the residents in the neighbouring room move through the room and were kept awake late at night by a couple who were having an extremely good time… great for them but not so great for the rest of the guests who had to listen to the whole ordeal.

The location was amazing and staff were lovely and checked us in early in to a better room than we booked. They made us feel very welcome and looked after, everything was clean and convenient. Would recommend.

The bed wasn't that comfortable and we heard noise from air conditioners and the bars outside which impacted sleep quality, but for how convenient the location was, the bar noises was to be expected.

The staff accommodating our needs to the bigger rooms at their new area across the road. "New Haus" was ten times better. Thanks for meeting our needs at short notice. Appreciate big time :).

Asking the cleaner for 2 extra towels due to having a shower that evening, then both my husband & I were wanting a fresh towel for our morning shower, as we were checking out the next day for our drive home. She did give us an affirmative yes when we asked her, but when we arrived back to our room from our outing, to find that she did not fulfil the request. Was a bit disappointed, but the receptionist at the desk was happy to find us 2 towels :) Also, did not expect to be in a small container spaced room for the price we paid for a 4 day stay. However....

Great Location. Quirky. Free drink (half pint beer or glass of wine) in the evening at the adjacent bar. Coffee/tea and toast in the mornings suited me just fine. Lovely bread and jam and decent coffee and tea. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Receptionist will get you a late night drink from the reception bar.

The evening meat and cheese 'platter' with the free evening drink was cubes of cheddar and slices of salami. Very basic. The rooms are compact. Didn't find the useful storage under the end of the bed until the day we left! Not advisable for a first date unless you are uninhibited about toilet (audible) and shower (slightly see through from bed) :-)
