Had an amazing 2 night stay at this clean, vibrant hotel. I cannot praise the staff enough for going above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Big shout out to manager Liam and bar staff that made My stay extra special. After being locked out of My room for 1.5 hours early Thursday morning due to a key malfunction, they went the extra mile to make me smile again, as I have anxiety which made the situation very stressful for me. Checking up on me through the day and a lovely meal on the house for me and my daughter speaks volumes of the exceptional customer service Liam and staff have in spades. They are a credit to this business, I will most definitely be back very soon. Not for the delicious food, or the comfortable rooms, not even the prime location. Purely to have such amazing staff making sure I have the best experience I can. Thanks guys you made my week. 10 out of 10 ☺️
Getting locked out of my room. And the lack of an after hours number. I had to wait till staff arrived at 9am.

The room was big and very clean! The ceiling was high with nice, ornate trim. The building was beautifully historic. The location was superb - tight in the heart of Freo. It was very quiet (restaurant on bottom floor was closed that evening bc of Boxing Day). Our room had a bathroom- tiny but fully functional and nice. The shower had excellent water pressure. The towel was a good size. Convenient to have a restaurant and bar on bottom floor. I saw on the website that the restaurant has daily specials and entertainment. Would like to experience that on next stay.
There was no staff or restaurant for most of our stay due to Boxing Day. Would benefit from getting a king size bed with a newer mattress. Would have liked to have a face cloth to clean myself in the shower. Had to use the hand towel.

Very friendly staff and the pub downstairs is very fun! We had a little problem when checking in and got a room upgrade. The location is fabulous if u are staying in Freo! Was our 1st time and we walked around the area easily from the hotel. We'd definitely come back here!
The room is noisy like all the other comments mentioned but we never went to bed before midnight (when the pub closes) so it didn't bother us at all... but take it in consideration before booking if u have light sleep or wanna rest from early in the arvo.

As a last minute booking, literally, my first impression was they were very accommodating. It turns out The Federal Hotel is one of the most reasonably priced hotels in Fremantle, because the service, location, food and social events are all of a very high standard. The building itself is a heritage building maintained in pristine condition. The pub itself on the ground floor is a very popular venue so the noise level on the weekend may be cause for concern. It has a brilliant beer garden any pub owner would be proud of, and located in the epicentre of Perth's main attraction. Earplugs are provided for guests who stay overnight in the rooms upstairs. Personally, I like a commingling of patrons adding atmosphere to the courtyard section of a historic structure. As an overnight guest I thought the showers were impressively voluminous and hot, despite the age of the building. The plumbing must be modern. Old plumbing is a deal-breaker for me. When I'm heavily encumbered I need a comforting flow to soothe my soul. The other main attraction is of course, Fremantle is great. It is eclectic. It's social. It's vibrant. It's a great for people-watching, too. Staying in the heart for a reasonable rate caught my attention. What keeps the Federal Hotel from getting an extremely high rating from me was the room I stayed in. For me it was cold. I realise you cannot expect all the modern conveniences in an older building however they promptly provided me with and extra blanket when requested. The room size is a bit on the small side, which again, is to be expected. It is a Federation building with ultra high ceilings. Although small in space there was enough room for me to go through my luggage thoroughly. Modern Library facilities are literally acrossthe road. All the staff seemed personable and genuine. I like that. It gives an easy-going vibe.
The room temperature, however an extra blanket solved that problem.

From the moment we walked in the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Even stopping us on our way back to the room to ensure we had glasses for our drinks. Food was delisciou, shared bathroom was clean and well maintained. The only comment was advertising on the wall stated $10 espresso martinis and they were $20, not noted until after we ordered and paid (they were deliscious), possibly an extra note to say its old advertising or similar. Great stay, we will be back :-)

What a great place! We loved being able to experience the historic feel of Fremantle at this hotel. The bedrooms were enormous, the beds and pillows soooo comfortable. We had three rooms in a row and ended up having a wee wing to ourselves, which was great. The decor is lovely, loved the plants in the atrium, the grandeur of the high ceilings, very convenient to everything, including some awesome restaurants right round the corner. Staff were all amazing, helpful, friendly and went out of their way for us - willing to store bags, call taxis etc, everyone we met was so kind! This hotel represents Fremantle extremely well!
Bathrooms could do with updating, but they fit with the historic feel, so not too major. Our rooms were on the third floor (no lift, so if that's a concern take it into consideration) and our WiFi dropped out, but there are plenty of spaces to sit to reconnect and explore. It is above a pub, obviously, so there was a slight bit of noise in the evening, but they have catered for this, supplying ear plugs and have air conditioning, so easy enough to block it out imo.

We were pleasantly surprised that our booking was for an apartment style room, which was great for the price. Beautiful hotel styled and maintained and in keeping with the period it was built. Large, spacious room, comfortable bed, dining table, couch and single lounge chairs, separate kitchen area with dishwasher, fridge/freezer and separate modern bathroom area. We were there Friday night, so we were told to expect loud music to play until midnight. Ear plugs supplied!
Nothing to add.

Spacious room on the 2nd floor. This is an old style hotel so don't expect 5 star luxuries but good affordable accommodation right in the middle of Freo. Rooms were very quiet considering this is quite a busy pub in town with music most nights.
Turn the shower on then go make a cup of tea to wait for the hot water to get up to you. The kitchen room that is supplied for guest use on the 2nd floor was not restocked or cleaned at all during my 2 night stay.

Friendly staff at check in Food was good Excellent location Convenient and easy check out with room card drop box
Tiny showers in shared bathroom with a gross stick to you whilst showering shower curtain. Shower cubical really needs updating. Beware if you are staying over the weekend as the music pumps loud til 1am. My room was just over the atrium so was at the noisy end. I guess you need to expect this staying in a pub so bring ear plugs if you plan to sleep before 1am.
