One of the best hostels I've stayed in! Staff were very friendly! Big Thank you to Linzi who gave us the best advice about what to do in Banff, local recommendations on where to eat and took us out to some cool viewpoints! Linzi really went over and above to make our stay special! Great facilities, we stayed in the 6 bed female dorm and it was so nice to have our own bathroom. Good privacy with curtains on the bunks and our own little fans. Beds were comfy and we slept well. Samesun is a short walk to the main restaurants and bars. Beaver Bar is fab! Enjoyed open mic night, reasonable prices for drinks! Good breakfast, loved the pancakes! Shout out to all the other staff including Larissa, Yvi and of course Katie! Thanks for making us feel so welcome!

This hostel was in a great location, a short walk from the centre of Banff and with a bus stop right outside when travelling further afield. The room was very big, with plenty of space to keep everyone's things and lockers to keep valuables. Bathroom was nice and everything was always very clean. Having curtains on the beds was great for some extra privacy.

The bed was very creaky and often woke me up without earplugs. As a solo traveller, it was initially difficult to get to know others as a lot of people knew each other well due to living there full-time. There were more people just visiting over the weekends, which made it easier to meet others.

The location was perfect, within walking distance to local attractions, restaurants and public transport. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and recommended we stay up for the Northern Lights, and we were blown away by the spectacle! ⁠Delicious food options, including a fantastic breakfast spread. Awesome beer selection with unbeatable happy hour deals. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it easy to meet fellow travelers. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Bathroom was clean, but shower needed some extra attention. Lack of designated area for wet towels

I've stayed at Samesun about 10 times in the last few months since moving from the UK to Calgary, and could not recommend it enough. It feels like a home away from home, with fantastic service - Linzi at the front desk was incredibly friendly and attentive, Katy the manager is so lovely and William behind the bar was such a laugh!) The location is ideal as the hostel is right on Banff Ave, and the amenities are great - a delicious breakfast is included in your stay (pancakes, toast, fruit, teas and coffees) as well as towels and linen. The Beaver Bar (which serves breakfast) offers yummy dinner options in the evening as well as drinks, and has daily specials. I've made so many friends there, it's an incredibly friendly vibe. Bus stops are 2 minutes down the road that take you off to ski resorts or to other iconic attractions around Banff. The dorm rooms are secure, with private well-equipped bathrooms, clothing hangers, gorgeous plants and fireplaces, and comfy bunkbeds with privacy curtains, lamps and plug sockets.

That I have to leave and go back to Calgary for work!!

Nice space with a fun bar and very friendly staff, great place to meet people! The kitchen was just big enough and had good facilities. Bed was comfy and clean the room had a clean ensuite, massive bonus! One of the better hostels I’ve stayed and and in a great location a short walk from bus stops and food/shopping! I’ve recommended this to a few friends planning to stay in Banff! Check in and out was a breeze and stress free, also let me store my luggage in a bag storage at the hostel when I arrived early and wanted to check out the town! Overall a great experience and would stay again.

I didn’t want to leave

The hostel is really nice. The beds are comfortable, the staff is really nice. They give towels and earplugs. Breakfast is included and it is really nice, you have a bit of everything. The kitchen is very well equipped and the lounge area is nice. They also provide parking, is doesn't fit a lot of cars but it is very handy if you find a spot. The vibe in general was really good, people were very nice and the bar was cool, they also have activities every day, so it is very easy to meet people. Also, there was a supermarket 10 mins max away and a gas station right next to the hostel. I would stay again.

My friend and I stayed at a 14 people bedroom and it only had 1 bathroom for everybody. You also have another one in the lounge area but is usually busy. It was not too bad, we could handle it.

The breakfast is good but was not start until 8am. It is a bit late. I missed two out of four breakfast, as my tour start before 8am. I would suggest breakfast start at least 7am, instead of 8am. Most of hotel/hostel started breakfast at 7am. The room is very clean, and I like the curtain in each bunk bed, as it increase the privacy and gave me a good sleep as it stop light coming in. I found the kitchen is small, and the sink sometime a bit messy. But in general it is very functional. The downside is, the very expensive bunkbed rate. I paid 134 CAD for a bunkbed per night, it is very expensive, compare to a lot of hostel in many big cities. But the room with a private bathroom make the hight price slightly bearable. However, I still consider the rate is very high. Only because it is being in Banff!!!!!

Best hostel in Banff; from the location being just a 5-10 min walk from the main shops/bars/restaurants to the staff who make you feel right at home - would highly recommend! Love the themed nights at the Beaver Bar, there's also a big common room area to meet people in a more chilled setting. Bedrooms are really cosy, most of them have a fireplace, super comfy beds, ensuite bathroom... and the breakfast is pretty diverse from eggs, fruit and English muffins to pancakes, and homemade muffins everyday - what more could you ask for!

Wish I could've stayed longer!

The whole staff team was really great, they are always there to help and were really friendly. Especially the two girls i met on front desk, Katie and Sophie, who were really nice and gave me good tips around Banff. Also the 4 guys that were doing maintenance were amazing, Brad, Harry, Jackson and Max! The whole housekeeping team were also really nice and efficent, especially Daisy that I got to chat with. The rooms were always clean, same thing for the kitchen and the common room. I met the two managers who were also really nice, Abigail and Katie, they were really helpful and welcoming! I recommend the Samesun to anyone travelling to Banff.
