The Alpine Meadows Lodge is a lovely hotel in Golden. Its position is perfect for exploring most of the national parks of the Canadian Rockies, as Golden is located between the Glacier and Yoho National Parks, and it is still not far from Banff and Jasper National Parks. The hotel is built in a traditional mountain style, it is clean and very nicely made and furnished. Medha, the owner and manager, as well as the staff are superfriendly, kind, and very attentive :) There is always access to the room where you can have tea and coffee at any time of the day. It is strongly recommended as base to explore this beautiful area of Canada.

Location is up a gravel road and very quiet. The older building features lots of wood that was taken from on site which is great. Nice breakfast area and places to sit if you want to read. Lovely view of the mountains. We have an electric car and it was nice to plug into the 110 on the outside of the building overnight for a trickle charge. Continental breakfast was fine, and I appreciated the fresh fruit. Taking shoes off at the door is great.
Front door sticks and could use some maintenance. Beds were a little firm. No milk alternatives were available for breakfast. Overall it was a great place to stay.

The lodge was a nice cabin in the middle of nowhere (which in this case is a good thing). The cabin and common spaces were nice and the breakfast room was great with lots of windows overlooking the valley. Breakfast was a good selection and it was nice to interact a bit with all the visitors who were all heading out into the wilderness each day.
The bed wasn't very comfortable with extremely springy feel. I felt like I was going to bounce my partner off the bed simply by turning. The room walls are thin and you can definitely hear everyone walking along the hallway, but its a cabin in the woods so I don't think this was all that bad. There were no noisy guests so we had no problem sleeping.

The staff was lovely, especially Janice who went to great efforts to make us comfortable. The lodge is beautiful. The room was small but quite adequate. The bed was very comfortable & the other guests were polite & not noisy as a hotel would have been. The views are exceptional with the lodge at an elevation to see the mountains & forests surrounding it, as well as the valley containing the town of Golden.
The final leg of the journey was a dirt road filled with potholes. This was not indicated in the description on line. We planned to check in & then go for a leisurely meal, but did not want to drive that last strip again, especially in the dark! If you intend to enjoy their hospitality be sure to buy any snacks en route.

The location was lovely, the bed was comfortable, the bath was excellent, though the bathroom was a little bit old. The large common area was very nice and the grounds were great for eating a meal outdoors. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. There was a shared fridge and microwave and unlimited access to tea and coffee. There was a bbq which we used and lots of birds and ground squirrels in the yard. It was a very nice stay really.
It didn’t bother us but be aware it is along a 4km gravel road to get there. We brought our own food but it is a way out of Golden to go for a meal. We used the bbq and had to ask for cutlery, plates etc from the kitchen, then go into the private kitchen to wash up. It was fine but not completely comfortable. The breakfast was very basic. Only one type of supermarket bread, hard boiled eggs, apples, bananas, flavoured yogurt, packaged oats and 4 different flavours of Cheerios! We had food of our own to supplement it but many people don’t.

With no prior experience staying at B&B’s I booked seven nights at Alpine Meadows Lodge for my wife and me. She always values cleanliness and the excellent reviews strongly influenced our choice. Those reviews turned out to be well deserved, (and I note that removing dusty hiking boots at the front door certainly is a simple and sensible initial enhancement of communal cleanliness.) Our plan was simply to use the lodge as a base for a series of extensive day trips through the national parks of the Canadian Rockies. As a somewhat introverted person I was not sure how I would do mingling with other guests. For the first few days of our stay, after an very adequate breakfast consisting of a bowl of cereal, a hard boiled egg, yogurt, and fruit we were gone all day sightseeing and hiking and returned late after most other guests had retired to their rooms. The lodge at 10 pm was quiet and sleep came easily in our second-floor room. I was comfortable in our cocoon of privacy. As the week wore on, the continual kindnesses and facilitations of our hosts, Medha and Jannis, began to melt away my reserve. We began to chat at breakfast with other long term guests. Halfway through our stay we enjoyed a grilled dinner on the porch and an evening of conversation afterwards in the dining room with our hosts and two other traveling families. By the end of our stay we came to regard the lodge itself as part of our vacation and Medha as a new friend. Some have reviewed this accommodation as quirky. If so, we loved its quirks. If we return to this area in the future, we will certainly come back to stay at Alpine Meadows Lodge.

The lodge is a few miles from the center of Golden, but the snow on the road was packed down when we drove out there. We had no issues driving there or finding the lodge. We chose this particular place because of the location and the view. The view was spectacular. The lodge has a very welcoming atmosphere. There was a fire in the fireplace in the center of the room, and was a very nice touch. The staff was congenial and helpful, and overall this was a very idealic getaway!
Nothing particularly comes to mind. The room was simple and had no tv, but that was what we expected.

Extemely warm welcome from Mehda and quickly felt at home whilst staying in the Lodge. Enjoyed the extremely cosy lounge area late afternoon/early evening. Continental breakfasts were plentiful, and very useful to have use of communal fridge. We ate out the 3 nights of our stay, but the outside BBQ area option was a helpful option, if not wanting to go into town. We took advantage of Mehda's recommendations for dinner which were excellent.
Nothing.

I wanted something off the beaten path near Golden during our trip around the Candadian Rockies. I've been on the road for 2 weeks and saw a large beautiful black bear on the drive out. My first bear of the entire trip. I'm the type of person that is weary of the modern chain hotels and stale motels. I knew what I was getting and it delivered...that's why I rated highly. It's not luxurious or fancy but has a real charm to it. Will come again if in the area for sure.

Everything. This property was exactly what we hoped it would be. Very clean, friendly and peaceful. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. During our stay we had car troubles and the ladies done everything in their power to provide us with help, including offering food, lifts and use of the phone. We loved that the property was amongst the forest. A drive to get to but well worth it in our opinion. Will definitely stay again.
