Location on a hill overlooking the water at sunset was a great start. The restaurant far exceeded my expectations with super friendly staff and excellent food --- the homemade fries were a revelation, the fish was done to perfection. Breakfast runs the gamut from death by calories to milk and cereal and accommodates all. But it's all topped by the always present and congenial management and team, that made our first stay in a motel with a service dog a pleasure.

The view was beautiful. There was a wonderful restaurant on site which served breakfast and dinner. We ate there for 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners and were very happy with the meals but disappointed that the french toasts came with table syrup instead of maple syrup. The rooms are cozy and a little dated but comfortable and clean. Everything worked in our room and in the second room, there was an issue with the bathroom fan which was promptly fixed in the morning. Heater worked well as it was cold and wet while we were there. Lovely balcony with chairs but it was too cold and wet to use them. Staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough for you.

Bathtub was showing some wear and furnishings were somewhat dated. Had to go outside to get to dining room which is fine unless it is raining.

Cozy, cottage feel to it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice view of the waterfront from the front window. Lots of room for parking. Overall, a very pleasant stay for my tour of the Cabot trail, and beautiful Cape Breton Island. Thank you!

I'm being picky here, but the only issue I had was that the wifi signal was a bit weak. I didn't use it much and had no issues when I did, other than a bit slow, but something to keep in mind. Also I feel like it could be a bit drafty in the wintertime as well, but I was there in August so can't confirm.

We love the Cabot Trail Motel. This is a super comfortable, delightful classic 1950s style motel but with modern conveniences like wifi, flat screen TV, and an easy-to-use coffee maker. There are quilts on the bed, a deck with a view of the water, and a very reasonably breakfast menu. Everything was cooked perfectly and the orange juice, coffee, and whole wheat toast was well above average. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you are coming for the Celtic Colours Music Festival, this is definitely the place to stay. We will stay there again.

The wifi was a bit slow and weak, but it always worked.

Coffee/tea is FREE in the restaurant for guests. But, if guests buy food, they are charged for the coffee/tea. That doesn't make sense. Great food and service.

Although coffee/tea is FREE in the restaurant for guests, if guests buy food, they are charged for the coffee/tea. That doesn't make sense. Not cool. If is is free, it's free. You should be happy that guests buy food in addition to a free coffee/tea.

The view was incredible and we did ask for an end unit for easy access to walk our dog and take out for pees. It was beautiful. Loved the gazebo across the street to gaze at the full moon. We would definitely go back there.

Booking.com was a bit of a pain as I paid on line with Credit Card and when checking out, the motel still didn't have our payment. It has been happening to them lately with booking.com and I was on the phone trying to confirm credit card payment on line on a Sunday morning, no one answering the phone for credit card payments. Finally, the motel finally received the funds while we were there.

The location was great - the breakfast was good as was a couple of our evening meals. Dining room was only open for dinner Wednesday thru Sunday -- but closed on Oct. 16. We left on the 17th

It could have been a little quieter -- but that is not the motel's fault -- just fellow travelers that have no idea that their conversations could be heard in the next room. Also as a senior - I found the toliets to be very low and hard to get up, maybe few handicapped facility or rooms could be offered.

I liked the location. Was on a hill so had an amazing view of Bras D'Or lake. Went for a nice swim & enjoyed a beer on the dock. Was a 3-5 minute drive to Baddeck. Staff was excellent and very friendly. Dining room was very pleasant with a great view of lake. Breakfast, which is not included in price, was wonderful and service was great.

The rooms could be updated. Bathroom was just okay. Towels for lake swim should be much larger. Some noise from the highway at the bottom of the hill but it is not a wide highway so it could be worse.

Very good. Would have preferred to order smaller portions such as senior portions. Food very good. Service excellent. Room bright and very clean.

Availability of "over 55" portions. Floor in bedrom very squeaky. Outdoors light shone all night into bedroom.

The Cabot Trail Motel is a bit vintage, but beautifully and lovingly kept, and very clean and comfortable. The location across the street from the Bras D'Or lake is lovely, and the staff was very welcoming, friendly, and accomodating.
