This is a modest, quiet, immaculate property with an extremely accommodating host who will go out of her way to meet your needs. Breakfast is basic continental but excellent value for the nominal cost. Every question has been anticipated with detailed notes to make things easy. The bed was comfortable and the water, hot :). There is a park with tennis courts across the street and the Inn is just around the corner from Elgin's restaurants and weekend Market. It is an easy walk to the Canal and downtown. I would certainly return.

The bed and linens were wonderful. The bathroom was a great size and was nice and clean. The room and the overall building has a lot of charm. The staff were kind, welcoming, and gracious. The receptiveness and flexible acceptance of my special requests (arriving after office hours, checking out 1.5 hours late, a space for an e-meeting) were so appreciated.

The only small thing was that the sink in the bathroom never yielded hot water, and the shower did not have hot water for more than 10 minutes. Neither of these things are certainly requirements in my eyes, more like a nice to have. But in all fairness, it is an old building, and I expected less hot water as a result.

I really love the place. Was clean, comfortable, very good location. Staff was great. Breakfast delicious!! i will definitely recommend and if coming back, this will be the place to stay. My room was with full bath inside and it was great. It has a good desk where i was able to work a little.

I hope they would have told me breakfast has to be paid in cash. I did not have change. However, staff was supper nice, i only had 1USD and breakfast cost 2 Canadian dollar. She let me have it! very kind

The Rideau Inn is a charming place in an excellent location for enjoying Centretown, a vibrant Ottawa neighbourhood. Perfect for travelling without a car, the inn is near a bus route and a 20-minute walk from the nearest O-Train station. The building is beautiful and well-maintained. If you have a room with a separate bathroom, you will still have that bathroom to yourself! Everything was very clean and well-thought-out. $2 per person for a continental breakfast is extremely reasonable (especially for people like me who need a coffee and something to munch on before making any more decisions!) We loved our stay.

I loved my quaint and spacious room and the location of Rideau Inn, right next to the hotspots on Elgin Street and only a 20-minute walk from Parliament Hill! The bathroom was not located in the room I stayed in, but out in the hallway, which didn't bother me in the slightest. Some rooms come with private bathrooms located inside the room, but I got a hidden gem with a larger room that had a ton of character. The bathroom wasn't huge, but it had everything a bathroom needs with great water pressure and heat. The bed was made daily, thanks to Lucie and the bathroom stocked with fresh towels. There was also a fresh breakfast available every morning for only $2. If you want a modern facility, then this is not the right place for you... but if you like old world charm and character... like I do... then you will enjoy the Rideau Inn.

I honestly liked everything about the Inn.

Lucie left me personalized instructions to help with my very late check in. Even before I arrived I felt confident and cared for because I knew how to enter, check in, and get settled. Once there, the room (Newfoundland Room) was pretty, efficient and comfortable. I found the bed was just the right softness and the air conditioner was easy to use and kept me cool. The breakfast was cleverly laid out so that there was a minimum of touching any food but a maximum of choices and a suitable variety of food. The coffee was strong and flavourful! The location was ideal - right downtown and very close to The Elgin Street Diner (a favourite spot for breakfast). I loved the history of the house and enjoyed the special touches of the Edwardian charm! I really enjoyed my stay!

Excellent location. Walking distance to downtown plus transit around the corner. We made use of the coffee machine and breakfast room on the second floor as well as the little sunroom. Nice for an early or late coffee. Pleasant common areas. Appreciated the keyless entry at the main door. Lucy was always very helpful and pleasant.

We could have used a better space for hanging clothes. The rack and hangers interfered with/were too close to the bathroom door. Some hooks on the back of the door for coats would have helped, too. Breakfast was okay for a continental/self serve but it would have been nice to have some yogurt as well and a fruit selection other than bananas every day - we were there 4 days. Appreciated the hard boiled eggs.

Very conveniently located to all the places we like to go. The room was comfortable and clean. We didn’t have a chance to use the kitchen facilities but it looked like nice. The front sitting room was very inviting and comfortable as well! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although a tight fit, we appreciated the parking spot at such a reasonable rate.

great location, just off of hopping Elgin Street, but very quiet and calm side street. incredibly friendly and accommodating host, let me check in early. very clean, comfy bed and pillows, continental breakfast with a wide option (just $2!). Nice and quiet hotel!

no complaints. it’s an old house so you could hear when people closed doors upstairs, but it wasn’t at all loud or bothersome. otherwise was super quiet!

Very charming wooden house showing a lot of love for the detail. Friendly and efficient welcome. Good-value self-serving breakfast. Impressively clean. Situated in a residential area adjacent to Elgin Street with dozens of restaurants & pubs.

Shower and toilet across the hallway for some of the rooms (not mine) may present a downside for some. Not unexpectedly the rooms are not really soundproof...
