Aesthetic and well air conditioned rooms, comfortable bedding, amazing and flexible breakfast every day (plated), extremely helpful staff. We booked most rooms at amarla for a girls trip and had a wonderful time, and found it was super easy walking distance to every club/bar/restaurant we wanted to go to and someone always at the front desk to receive us. Roof top pool and shaded courtyard were essential! The staff went above and beyond while there — one of the rooms had a broken a/c and they were quick to proactively resolve by providing additional lodging for a night at a sister hotel, before fixing it the next day.

Location is amazing but like the rest of the walled city, rooms can be a little bit loud depending on the room! Opt for a room facing the courtyard when available. Prices are a little steep for Cartagena but the property is very boutique/luxurious with the best value breakfast I’ve had in town (after staying in 4 other hotels). Great especially for couples/small groups.

This is such a wonderful hotel. The common areas are beautiful, and it has definitely kept its colonial charm whilst feeling very luxurious. The room was comfortable and well equipped, and the staff were incredibly cordial and helpful.

The only issue is we had a desk semi-blocking the door, so accessing the balcony wasn’t easy. It’s also worth noting that some rooms are quite noisy at night. Not the hotel’s fault as it’s coming from the street below, but for the rooms that face the road, maybe they could offer earplugs. The shower did not get very hot for very long and the old shower head means the water sort of splatters in weird directions, but it wasn’t terribly inconvenient.

Gorgeous Boutique hotel in the heart of the old town. So beautifully designed and extremely private. (It felt like we had the place all to ourselves despite the place being fully booked). Extremely secure as the staff are available 24/7 to let you in. Breakfast was delicious and very generous. Our bed was probably the most comfortable I have ever stayed in (and thank goodness for the A/C). Lastly - The staff were so lovely and accommodating. Can’t wait to return!

We loved the rooftop & pool, however it did feel a little tricky to order a drink.

The attention to detail, the staff, the location, the ambience. Everything was perfect. The breakfast was delicious - it was hard to choose what to order every morning. The coffee was some of the best I've ever had. My boyfriend and I spent a lot of our time swimming in rooftop pool. It was such a beautiful setting, you wanted to stay in the hotel as much as you wanted to be out exploring. Also the beds were extremely comfortable. Will definitely stay here again if I ever go back.

Wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of the historic part of the city. It's located in a busy touristy area (in a good way as the main sights are easy to reach, and it feels safe) but inside it's like an oasis - quiet and lovely. The staff are amazing. Also, we loved the tours arranged for us by the hotel - a walking tour with Chaime and the fruit & chocolate tasting with Oscar were memorable experiences. Great view from the rooftop

The aircon blows directly at the bed so it's hard to get the room temperature right at night. Also, no gym (neither at the hotel itself nor nearby).

We loved our stay. when we arrived the staff said there was an issue with our aircon unit and had organised another lovely hotel for us to stay in but we wanted to stay here so they said it was fine and worked around us to fix the aircon. everything is perfect - the rooftop, the staff, the food and drinks. we were able to have breakfast on the rooftop which was gorgeous and also when our alarm didn’t go off the hotel were proactive at waking us up as they knew we had an early transfer!

Loved this place and everything about it from the architecture to the interior design, the food the service and pool. Thank you George for welcoming us and organising taxis to airport. Would highly recommend can’t get a better location. Can also use pool on the day after checkout to chill before a flight and has a nice bathroom can change in and shower.

The staff was so helpful, especially Claudia. She made sure anything that we needed we had. All the staff made us feel comfortable, welcome, and safe. The breakfast was delicious and I loved all the different options for food and drinks. The bedroom was clean and spacious, and we had a great view of the city. The pool and the rooftop terrace was the perfect place to enjoy the sunset. I could not recommend the hotel more, all the restaurants and museums were so close to the hotel that we were able to walk everywhere and explore the city.

Amarla is a beautiful historic building. Walking in absolutely took my breath away. The rooftop is stunning. Most comfortable bed I’ve ever had in a hotel, I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. We had to leave the hotel before breakfast, so they gave us fresh fruit to take with us. So kind!

The only thing I didn’t like was that we were there for a very short amount of time. We only had one night and had to leave by 4am.
