Lush and beautiful garden setting, clean, private 2 bed studio next to the airport. Quick jump to the airport at 5 am using Uber (2K Colonnes). I was a little concerned about not being able to find a driver at that hour and Max, the owner offered if I didn't see any in the area. The night before, a quick walk up the street to a market to buy lunch for the next day and dinner at the pizza & sushi place - both good.

A few ants had invaded the bathroom... non biting, and just kind of marching around.

The hosts are super friendly. It's our first stay in Costa Rica, so they gave us many suggestions on where to go and tips on how to survive in driving. The breakfast is also tasty. We had the best gallo pinto among our entire trip in Costa Rica. My stomach was not comfortable that morning but the hosts helped me adjust the breakfast so i can digest better. The place is spacious, clean and convenient as well. Definitely enjoy our stay here!

The place is close to the airport so we can hear the noise from the airplane in the early morning.

The apartment was of very generous size, furnishing is basic, but perfectly fine. A very cost-effective place if you need to stay around the airport. This was our first place to stop after landing in Costa Rica. The owner, a very friendly guy, gave us a number of useful tips. Much appreciated! The place is located in a residential area behind a locked gate, giving your car extra security.

We struggled a bit to get across the gate to the residential area, but this was just a minor hiccup.

The property is very cute with a nice garden and a cute dog! The hosts were amazing and very helpful. We only stayed 1 night, but Max, the owner, even offered his phone number so that we could call him whenever during our trip in case something happened. He even gave us the good routes to take for the rest of our trip. The breakfast was good and well worth the money as everything is organic and grown in their garden. Location is super convenient as it’s close to a rental car company and the airport. Overall it was a great stay.

We arrived at the Airport at night after long flights from California. Rio Segundo Studio is a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport (fare ~ $5 US) and offers a convenient refuge from the bustle of the city. The highlight of our stay was clearly the welcoming hosts and delicious Costa Rican breakfast. Max is friendly, interesting, and fluent in English. He provided great advice on local driving and helped us refine our plans to visit Costa Rica. He also helped us with local train schedules and to get an early am taxi for the flight home. The quiet tropical yard features beautiful birds, a resident giant tree-dwelling iguana (Lorenzo!), and Puff, a sweet older Labrador Retriever. After leaving the first morning, we booked Rio Segundo again for our final days to be close to San Jose (local train nearby) and the Airport for the flight home. Good decision!

The room and bathroom were basic but perfect for us. It's a challenge to find this place in the dark so bring your cell phone and directions.

Whenever we go to Costa Rica if we landed at SJO late in the day we will stay with Max at Rio Segundo. Just 2 km from SGO, it’s a great place for your first night and your last night. Max is an exceptional host, conversationalist and with very interesting life experiences. The cottage and small yard is rich in Costa Rican pura vida.

The breakfasts were delicious! We were served outside underneath a beautiful tree with a small pineapple growing nearby. The atmosphere was very peaceful and lush. The owner was friendly and accommodating. Thank You So much!

There was nothing I didn’t like. Everything was absolutely perfect!

Good and calm location next to the airport. Bit more difficult to find but host gave us a Waze link to follow. It’s within a gated community, completely separated from the rush streets. Awesome garden, nice rooms and good breakfast. Great host Max & his wife.

The host was extremely accommodating and welcoming. He also gave us his phone number should we need any help after we left. We arrived on Christmas Eve and they were kind enough to make us breakfast on Christmas day. They gave very clear check in instructions and met our taxi at the door.

It's a great place to stay after or before the flight as it's really close to the airport. We've been there the second time and would always come back. The owner is helpful and friendly and you can get a delicious breakfast if you want.
