If you have to stay near the airport, this is the spot. I arrived quite late: check-in was a breeze. I had planned this so I would wake up in Costa Rica on my birthday. When I got to my room, there was a gorgeous slice of decorated cake along with the sweetest note! Breakfast has a good variety, shuttle pick-up and drop-off (all better than other hotels in the airport strip I have tried before).

The only reason I don’t rate it as completely perfect is the absence of a pool. But given I left the next morning for a beach, that’s a small quibble!

The location was excellent for the airport just a few minutes away. The room and beds were very comfortable . There were 3 of us in one large room with two 5 ft beds . The inside was standard Marriott but not luxurious. The breakfast was pretty good . Fruit Oats Eggs Toast and a lot more.There are some nice restaurants opposite such as the Mexican so we went there in to eat in the evening. The gym is reasonably equipped and there is a Walmart 2 mins away. We were only there for 1 night so it totally met our needs . I would use this hotel again particularly for a short stay . Staff were also very helpful.

The convenience of location , comfort and service.

I recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is fantastic, with plenty of great restaurants and a mall nearby, making it easy to explore and find good meals. The breakfast was a highlight, offering a delicious variety that started my day off right. I also appreciated having access to the gym, which was a great way to stay active during my trip. My room was comfortable and well-appointed, featuring a nice workspace that allowed me to catch up on some work without any hassle. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its great amenities and welcoming atmosphere.

I found it challenging to work downstairs because of the loud music. It made it difficult to concentrate. If you need a quiet space to work, I would recommend sticking to the rooms instead

We were really impressed with the hotel, it was modern and largely clean, the room was spacious and the bed was very comfy. Helpful having a restaurant on site and we liked that there was a happy hour. Didn’t notice any noise from the airport despite being on the doorstep so excellent sound proofing!

We dumped our stuff in the room and ventured back out to drop off our hire car so didn’t inspect anything, but when we came back in the evening, we noticed a pile of white sand on the floor. This definitely hadn’t come from us or our stuff because we hadn’t unzipped our suitcase and had only been on beaches with black sand. Upon getting into the bed, we then noticed there was sand all in the covers which was pretty uncomfortable. By then it was too late (and we were too tired) to do anything about it, but clearly there needs to be some greater attention paid to cleaning. Other than this we were happy with the stay and would have rated a 9 if the sand wasn’t present.

Our stay at the Marriott Fairfield was comfortable, a great place to start of the trip before our 4 hour journey the next morning. Breakfast was amazing, great selection of local foods and standard breakfast foods. Staff we're so lovely and accommodating. There's a Walmart right across the road too which was handy for picking up last minute things like sim cards, snacks and toiletries.

Clearer information about the free airport shuttle prior to arrival. We didn't know we had to wait for it at the hotel shuttle part of SJO airport arrivals so we ended up paying for an overpriced taxi to the hotel.

Very convenient, clean and nice staff. Free shuttle to and from airport. The complimentary breakfast totally exceeded my expectations, with lots of options to choose from and was very appetizing.

The only negative is that our arrival was along with several others at 12:30 am, and we had to wait for over 20 minutes to get registered since there was just one receptionist. All was efficient, but they should be able to know when they are going to have their influx of arrivals since their customer base is from the airport.

The ease of the complimentary airport shuttle to and from the airport is a huge bonus, runs often, early in the morning to late at night, and is simple to find after exiting the airport and turning right and walking down the sidewalk/pavement a bit past the clamoring taxi drivers but they are helpful if you ask where the hotel shuttle pulls up. The airport shuttle serves both hotels, the Fairfield and Courtyard Marriott, which are located side by side. The entire hotel and rooms are aesthetically pleasing and clean and comfortable. The included breakfast is tasty and offers a large selection of choices, from gallo pinto to 2 types of scrambled eggs, meats, cheeses, veggies, yogurt, fruits, breads, cereals, milk, juices, coffee. Best and largest breakfast selection I’ve found at a hotel. Very close to airport but on a pretty quiet street. 24 hour security guards out front. The hotel bar and restaurant has friendly bartenders and servers. The ice machines have good ice. Walmart is conveniently located right next door and is open pretty late. For lunch or dinner, the restaurant at the sister hotel right next door is great and there is the option to charge the meals/drinks to your room next door, as they are both Marriott hotels. Would recommend and would stay again.

Really the only thing is that the rooms could use a mini fridge

The gym was a nice facility to have access to. I enjoyed being able to have a nice weight training session. Although the weights are limiter to dumbells and 10 kg kettle bells. There is a stationary bicycle, some treadmills and an elliptical too. My bed was also quite comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. The free shuttle service to and from the airport is also great. They leave every 30 minutes. Breakfast starts at 05:30 as well which left me enough time to grab something before my early flight.

The food prices were quite expensive but I found this to be the case with Costa Rica in general. The nearest restaurants aren't particularly good and are extremely overpriced too. There are better places if you're willing to venture 10 to 15 minutes away from the hotel.

The staff were really helpful here. I arrived at San Jose airport quite late at night - nearly 2am (after the shuttle had finished for the day) and there were no official taxis at the taxi rank, but upon calling the hotel they sent a taxi straight away so I could safely arrive at the property. I just stayed for one night but the room was perfectly comfortable and a great selection of food at the included breakfast. I took the hotel shuttle to the airport the next morning and the driver dropped me straight at the domestic terminal before continuing to the international terminal. Great hotel for a layover between flights!

The location of this hotel is ideal in order to catch a flight early the next day. We very much appreciated the free shuttle to the airport. A tip regarding that: during busy times at the airport, you might want to ensure you are at the hotel lobby well ahead of the shuttle's departure time - our shuttle was nearly full. The cleanliness of the room was impeccable. The reception staff was very kind and helpful!

The restaurant's price-quality ratio for our dinner wasn't quite what we expected.
