Villa Filaus B&B

We had an amazing stay in Dubrovnik, and it all started with our wonderful experience at Villa Filaus. Anita, who checked us in, went above and beyond to provide us with valuable information about the city. Her warm welcome set the tone for our entire trip. Our room was nothing short of spectacular. It was not only beautifully designed but also impeccably clean. We couldn't find a single fault during our stay. The attention to detail was evident, making our stay truly comfortable and memorable. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Dubrovnik, and Villa Filaus exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting this city.

Knowing how busy Dubrovnik gets, I decided not to be in the bustle around the old town, but somewhat outside with easy transportation. Property is right at Post Lapad bus stop, with 15mins service to Pile Gate. The neighbourhood has many residential buildings surrounding the Villa grounds, which shield from noise. There are many restaurants options very close-by and a store across the street. My ground floor room was spacious, very comfortably equipped with quality fittings and a balcony. Anita, who manages the property and Blanka who looks after the logistics, could not be more professional and helpful, sharing any information needed to make a smooth stay.

Anita is so friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. In a resort of large hotels, this place has character and you feel you are in Croatia rather than just any European resort. Breakfast is across the street in a cafe and is a bonus, it has everything you need. The accommodation is super clean and the bed was one of the best I’d ever slept in. I want it!

We stayed one night at Villa Filaus during our Balkan road trip. It’s a cute and very well maintained villa. The rooms are modern, very clean and spacious. The airco works very well and is silent. Something we believe is important since it’s so hot during the summer. The garden is very cute and has a refreshing swimming pool. Anita that works ( and maybe owns) at Villa Filaus is the best host you can ever dream of. She’s thoughtful, organised and very welcoming. Truly the heart of Villa Filaus.

Villa Filaus is a real Dubrovnik’s gem. Built in 1931 and freshly renovated, it is a convenient, modern and visually pleasing place to stay near Uvala Lapad beach. The area is surrounded by many restaurants and cafes, as well as walking promenades, some local shops and other facilities (we even visited yoga studio Weduyoga nearby that we highly recommend). Guests can use the facilities of Hotel More 5* (gym, beach, pools etc) that is located at a walking distance. Even coming at late October, we managed to swim in the sea every day as both air and water temperature was 21°C. Anita made our stay at Villa Filaus very welcoming, caring and exceptionally kind that was highly appreciated from our side.

A-la-carte breakfast is served at a restaurant just across the street. If staying for a longer period, you might be lacking some variety.

The hotel was in an excellent location, 5 minute walk from both the main seafront, restaurants and cafes and bus stop. We were greeted on arrival by Anita, who supplied us with a map of the area and lots of tips regarding where everything was located, restaurants for dinner and how to travel into Old Town Dubrovnik. The bus stop is allocated at the end of the road, where you can find a kiosk selling bus tickets. The bus (6) to the Old Town runs every 10 minutes and takes approximately 20 minutes. The hotel itself is extremely clean, rooms contain everything needed (safe, ironing board, TV, hairdryer, fridge and a large supply of teas and coffee). Daily room service isn’t available, but a plentiful supply of towels and toiletries are supplied.

Great location and beautiful rooms. Very convenient to beaches and restaurants and a quick and inexpensive Uber ride to Old Town area. Rooms and outdoor patios spacious and quite comfortable.

Not clear on booking.com or at facility what you should expect as far as room supplies (towels, glasses, coffee/tea) Also we were never told that we had to formally check out and pay hotel tax nor were we advised on check in. On check in our host Anita that if we needed anything to please ask. When we did ask, she quickly got defensive and asked if I had read booking.com listing and policies of facility. No where does it talk about items I mentioned above. Again, building and rooms were immaculate but beautiful outside grounds did need some care as lawn was unmowed and plants a bit overgrown.

Fantastic stay in a beautiful Villa. Mara was exceptional she greeted us upon our check in and provided us with all information needed for our stay, surroundings and restaurants available near the areas and in the old city. She was very friendly and professional. Made her self available in the phone at all times upon any emergency or need. The Villa was outstanding, the room had a beautiful smell and the bathroom was spot less. We had private parking at the Villa with controlled access. We visited the sister hotel and it was as well beautiful and has lots to offer from a delicious restaurant to an amazing cave-bar. Great location!

We loved the location - quiet but very close to the promenade and the sea front with all the restaurants, and just a short Uber drive to the Old Town. The room was very spacious and squeaky clean, with balcony overlooking the beautiful garden. The manager, Anita was super friendly and attentive, and she took great care of us - thank you! :-) She even gifted us a fabulous bottle of wine when she found out we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and she organised a late and stress-free check-out for us at no extra fee, for which we are very grateful!

There were 3 weaker points of our stay however: 1: Almost no storage space in the bathroom. There was only limited space on the sink, enough for the toothbrushes, soap and a cream tube or two. Where to put all the cosmetics, hair brushes, make up etc.? I ended up putting them in the entrance area, but it was very inconvenient. 2) Hair dryer. Very weak and uncomfortable to use. 3) The breakfast was served in a hotel nearby, and it was average, definitely not 4 stars. Other than that, an amazing hotel in a traditional villa, comfortable bed, super friendly staff and a great location in Dubrovnik;-) Enjoy!

Anita was an absolute legend! From arrival she was attentive and incredibly helpful. She had also read our special request as she provided us with a bottle of wine as it was our honeymoon. Room was spacious with a lovely balcony, it has air conditioning which was great. Location was great, it was 15 minutes into the Old Town and was situated next to the promenade which on one of the nights was hosting a concert- it was a great experience. Although the hotel is in a touristy area, it was incredibly silent. Car parking was easy and secluded. Breakfast was good too, even though you have to walk to a separate hotel.

It is expensive but we expected that due to the local area.
