The room is very comfortable, even for stays of several days. The breakfast is the best of this hotel since it is very varied, and the location of the restaurant makes it ideal to start the day. It is a clean, tidy place, very well located, making it a very good option to stay in Santo Domingo.

The attention of the staff is not always the best. It is something common not only here but in almost all bars, restaurants, taxis, museums, and other places in the Dominican Republic. They tend to be inattentive and unreceptive, and sometimes they seem peevish. Surely it is not intentional, but it could be annoying for some visitors, considering that in other countries nearby, the attention is a plus.

If your wanting to see and explore the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo this location is perfect! Just two short blocks away from all the most impressive landmarks, great eat spots and shopping. If your a history buff, this is a seriously interesting place to be, although, not all the history is kind. We’ve now stayed at the Cataleya Hotel on two separate occasions and we would go back anytime. Because this is such an old building there are a few things lacking, no windows or balcony which kept us busy touring the city which was perfect. The AC works remarkably well (buurrrr). Hot water and great water pressure in the showers. Very clean rooms! The wifi didn’t work for us this past stay unfortunately but thats my only complaint. The breakfast which is hosted by the restaurant “Green” is a short but lovely walk away from the hotel and our meals were all really good. The staff is wonderful. Very helpful and informative. Our sweetie at the front desk couldn’t be kinder, she remembered us from our first stay which was awesome. This stay is definitely great value for dollars and we look forward to staying again during our next trip to SD. Thank you Cataleya Hotel for the wonderful hospitality.

The wifi at this location seems to be better in some areas of the hotel then others. Truly my only complaint.

The water in the shower was a bit complicated to regulate in order to be warm. They could have provided more toiletries. We had to ask for towels which were brought straightaway but they had some stain on it (I believe they were clean, just the stains made them look not 100% spotless)

This is a small basic hotel and for the money I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. It was super clean, quiet and comfortable and the staff who spoke English were helpful. The location is in the heart of the Zona Colonial. There were only two downsides -the rooms have no exterior windows and the breakfast is a voucher at a nearby (but quite pleasant) restaurant about five minutes walk right on the Plaza Colon. Fast wifi, bathroom, hot water all fine.

Bed very hard and uncomfortable could not control the hot water to a perfect medium kept getting. burned my room was back of building there was a machine running all night would not let me sleep

it was very cozy and a nice atmosphere. in the heart of the colonial zone, I felt safe and the staff are very polite. very clean very good hot water. the bed was ok, sleep well. the complementary breakfast was great in a nice location also with a great view. I would definitely be back.

nothing negative to say, I hope that doesn’t change in the future stay’s. but so far very good place to stay in the colonial zone.

Good quality hotel. Very good value for it’s price. Clean, fresh, provides everything necessary. Very good breakfast at one of the restaurants in the park.

My personal inconvenience - a very few rooms have windows. Most of them have little windows to the corridor, but no sunlight. I had to wait very long time for the hot water, and after I got it I was super hot for a short time and then gone again.

Although a central location, less than 5 minutes' walk to Parque Colonial and Plaza Espana, it was peaceful staying in this hotel. The Cataleya Hotel is very clean, WiFi is good. The room was basic, but comfortable. The slightly late check out time of 1pm is an advantage.

Breakfast is taken in a restaurant in Parque Colon, the choices are quite limited e.g. no orange juice, only pineapple juice; you can only have juice or tea / coffee, not both. No big deal, but one would expect to enjoy more options if staying in a hotel with its own restaurant.

The size, location, and staff were excellent. The room was large and had everything I needed. The location was minutes from the major tourist areas and always crowded enough to be safe. The staff were helpful, attentive, and friendly.

There was only an internal window in my room and no external one, this wasn't a big deal but I wish I had known before. The way the building was built was full of echoes, so my room was very noisy when anyone was in the hall or reception area, from conversations from guests in the hallways and people outside. This wasn't a huge deal, but I definitely had to wait for noisy neighbors to go into their rooms before I could go to bed. People made phone calls in the hallway often, so I had to listen to them.
