Food best we've had during two weeks travelling the Nile ; and the people serving it, well, they're a wonderful friendly lot ! Couldn't be more delighted with their hospitality, friendliness and good humour. The pool is huge as is the Aswan heat ; you'll spend much time there. Walking distance to boat rides on the Nile (150 Egyptian pounds for 60 mins').Oh...spectacular views towards pool area, Aga Khan museum, Elephantine Island, sweeping Nile views and the hills of the desert off in the distance. Wow and triple WOW !!

I didn't like leaving Basra hotel, easily the bit I "didn't like"

Guest relations manager Reham was very kind and attentive. The other staff members of the front desk were also kind. However sometimes too much formal, because normally I am always humble to everyone, because I can understand how hectic and pressurizing job can be in a hotel. Therefore I never keep high expectations about facilities. My request for a room with natural light was fulfilled and we got a great room facing the city view and a corner view of the Nile river. The sunrise was spectacular from our room balcony. It was spacious and and the bathroom was well lighted.

Some members of the reception desk needs to recognize if a guest is dealing or speaking very humbly. Sometimes being too much formal can be seen as grumpiness. Maybe something to work on.

Aswan surprised us for good - and so did this amazing hotel. It's clear that it was a very luxurious hotel once upon a time, and it still has all of the outstanding service and guest-oriented attitude. The hotel has everything you need, from a restaurant to a small shopping area. You have ATM machines right in the lobby, and the big swimming pool constitutes an amazing view. I will definitely go back here.

I liked everything. Even being situated at the top of a hill, walking up is not so hard if you don't have any specific physical issue, and we could loved the exercise.

The hotel is located on a hill offering a spectacular view of the Nile islands and the west bank with the tomb of Agha Khan. It is also only meters away from the wonderful Nubia Museum. The hotel has been recently renovated so everything was fresh (in fact the work was still ongoing at the hotel entrance). The room was large and so was the bed. The bathroom was exceptionally clean. The restaurant was operating all the time and the food was quite good. The swimming pool was quite pleasant. My room was facing the city but there was no noise and the view was really interesting: the Nubia Museum, the Fatimid cemetery and the city itself. As the hotel is located on a steep hill do not take a horse-driven caleche to reach the hotel.

The room safe did not work properly.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly - Maria and Reham both walked my 2 year old son and I up to the room. Really took care during check in. Thank you! They also arranged a lovely cake for my wife’s birthday - it’s was very kind of them to ask if there was any special occasion when we booked. Just really good service from hotel staff! We were kept informed throughout of our book via what’s app and communication was great! I will defo recommend this to anyone looking for a short or long trip! Lots of places to eat near by… and walking distance.

Kitchen Staff! Dinner service - Little/ no service! we had to find our own table as no one approached us to sit us down then had to call staff/ waiter for menu and ordering food and in between when we wanted more drinks my son had to go and tell the staff what we needed - more of self service - there was no service and they were really letting the team down. Next day when we wanted to heat some food the first thing the old man said was as - ‘there would be a charge’ I have stayed in many hotel and I have never heard of this charge to heat food!

Cleanliness: The room and hotel were pretty clean and well-kept. There was some construction going on, but it didn't bother us. Food: A mixed bag. Loved most of the dishes, but the sambousek and chicken wrap were letdowns. Breakfast had a good variety, though the quality was inconsistent. Nothing was terrible, though. Staff: These folks were top-notch! Super friendly and went out of their way to help. Location: It's not on the main street, meaning you'll need a taxi or have to walk a bit for one. But hey, it's super close to the Nubian Museum, which is a bonus. Noise Levels: Being away from the main area means it's quieter - a definite plus. Pool Hours: No set hours for the pool, which is pretty cool. Didn't use it much due to the cool weather, but it's great to have the option. Check-in/Check-out: Smooth as silk. We arrived early, and only had a short, comfortable wait while our room was prepped.

As mentioned - the food was generally good - but some of the dishes were a slight letdown (either because the taste wasn't quite there, or the option just wasn't available - like Sahleb. That said - the staff offered to drive into the city to get me Sahleb within an hour - super accommodating staff!).

I requested a quiet room on an upper floor that wasn't near families/children and the hotel provided that perfectly. The front desk staff was welcoming and a young woman (I'm sorry I can't recall her name) who was serving drinks poolside was very kind and helpful. She brought a towel to me when I came to the pool and didn't know where I was supposed to get/request one...it was not her job to do that but she went out of her way to do so. The restaurant staff on the the other hand only gave me attention when they needed my room number and then they were done with me. The guest relations/tours woman whose desk sits directly in front of the elevators wouldn't even look at me, no greeting, nothing... I had the impression I should've been wearing a suit and tie before she'd even deign to recognize me. Very cold. There was construction going on in the entryway and it was often loud from morning onward, but the sound didn't travel up to my room, only loud in the lobby. There was an ATM onsite and that was very convenient. I would return to Basma and try it again as it's a good location, across the street from the Nubian museum and also near to a friend and family I visit every year.

The hotel is amazing, strategically located, so you have a lovely view of Aswan. We had a room with the pool and Nile view and is just a must to go to the balcony and have that lovely view! The room is very spacious, clean and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities, the staff is very friendly, polite and helpful. It was very hot so we used the swimming pool that is big and good. We even got a free massage at the spa. Our reservation included the breakfast that was exceptional , could spend long time trying all the different breads and pastries. We are delighted with our stay at Basma Hotel and highly recommed this hotel.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Good internet. Food at the restaurant (dinner) was good. The view over the Nile, as well as the sunset was fabulous. They were kind enough to provide us with a cake for my dad’s birthday. However I couldn’t eat any as I am gluten intolerant.

Breakfast wasn’t great. Not many gluten free options. Fruit juice was really watered down. A mistake was made with the invoice when we checked out. Upon which time I had 2 people texting me to tell me about the mistake and ask me to pay it in some other way, other than them running my credit card.
