Less than 10-min walk from Karakuma and Gojo metro stations, and to Nishiki market. The closest bus stop to Bamboo forest and Gion is less than 5-min walk (flat fare for the bus, 230 jpy pp. [July 2024] paid to the driver before getting off regardless of distance) The main road close to the hotel was a good spot for Gion matsuri parade. Surrounded by shops, convenient stores and shopping malls, and close to a popular ramen shop among the locals (Mensho Takamatsu Shijo Shop 麺匠たか松 四条店). Free delicious ice cream

The room was so not clean; the shalves was dusty. The fridge was old and not so cold.

Great location, everything is extremely close, bus and metro stops as well close. I stayed in a number of hotels and can tell that the staff was most helpful. We had few small issues that were resolved no matter night or day. It was great having both washer and dryer downstairs. Smoking area close to washers was unexpected bonus! View that we had was not the worst either.

Rooms are quite small for two persons with each having a medium sized suitcases, however we kept it closed and had little issues moving around the room (while traveling in Japan we only came back to room for some sleep, shower and clothing tho) I wish they had option to use Netflix on their TV for some anime before bed :D

Returning to M's East Hotel in Kyoto for the second time was a decision I did not regret. Hotel in very good location in downtown Kyoto, very friendly staff. Rooms are small, as it is standard in many Japanese hotels. Some rooms have the window to a narrow court which is quiet but doesn't provide too much light. There are other rooms with view and more light. The staff was helpful to find the right room for us.

Hotel M’s Est Shijo Karasuma is incredibly well situated in the centre of Kyoto. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shops but is very quiet in a side street. There are many excellent restaurants in the side streets adjacent to the Hotel, and Nishiki market and the river are ten minutes walk away. The Hotel is clean, modern and very good value. The bathroom had a bath with shower and was brand new as was the room. I had a window on the street but heard no noise. Several subways are within 50 to 100 metres of the Hotel as well as buses to get around to temples and other sights easily. I love Kyoto and like to walk around the old streets and watch daily life too. The Hotel is within walking distance of Yasaka Shrine, Gion, Tatsumi Bridge and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. I am a walker so even Philosopher’s Path is doable at 4.5 kms. Otherwise there are lots of easy local transport options from the hotel.

The staff do not speak any English. Therefore, the hotel is great if you can figure things out but it can be a challenge otherwise if you need advice and explanations from reception staff. Also the rooms are small. It was fine with one small suitcase but it would be difficult with lots of luggage.

Location is convenient, right next to Karasuma train station, convenience stores, and bus stop. The facilities were great, I liked that there were communal washing machines and dryers available within the premises. My room was cosy and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful when I asked about the mini fridge in my room, which was working fine but the plugs were switched, so it switched off whenever I left the room.

The dryers needed maintenance as, they didn’t dry clothes properly.

We were super pleased with our stay at this hotel! It was located in a lively area, just 5 minutes away from the Nishiki Market and it was really easy to access any touristic place without hassle. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious enough. We'll definitely choose here again if we visit Kyoto in the future.

It would've made our stay better if they had built-in plug converters, one of the hotels we stayed had had both normal plugs and a converter plug, and it was really convenient for us to charge multiple devices.

Location was superb. It’s near train stations, bus stop that serves many buses to tourist attractions. Stone throw to eateries, convenient stores, Daimaru and Takashimaya. It was a great base for Kyoto, Osaka, Nara & Hijime. We also liked the water dispenser, complimentary toiletries and laundry machines. The eco cleaning works well for us as we do not want to be disturbed.

Nothing really. But do note that the dryer takes 3hrs or so to dry the clothes.

The location is 3 mins walk from Shijo station and Nsiki Market, Not quite a 'Luxury; hotel but not at budget status either, Clean room however as per most Japanese Hotel rooms fairly small. Quiet though didnt really hear any other residents. Locally right opposite a 7/11 and round the corner from a Lawson Shop. Resturants are scattered around and you should easily get in.....Althought to stop down on the subway is Kyoto main station that has numerous Resturants a stones throw away

As with most Japanese Hotel room it was on the small side, The English of the the reception wasnt up to much and the hotel doesnt operate the Baggage transfer....Although 2 minutes round the corner Lawson shop does

The location is great—it's on a quiet street right off the main street, connecting all the main Kyoto attractions. We enjoyed staying in our room. The hotel offered lots of amenities, including razors, combs and toothbrushes. We particularly liked access to cold water and an ice machine to fill our bottles before heading out for sightseeing.

We had some difficulty using the laundry service because one of the machines was broken. Reception promptly refunded our laundry coins which we used on another machine. However, when using the dryer, our clothes did not dry completely, so we had to hang our clothes in our room for a few more days. We would have appreciated USB ports in our room as we had to buy a converter for the Japanese sockets, which we had to share among multiple devices.
