The hotel's location is unbeatable. We were able to go to Nishiki Market every day and Daimaru. That said, it is close to the subway and bus stops. Daily continental breakfast will be provided every morning in your room. This even beats a 5 stay hotel. The spread is quite wide with a cup of orange juice, 3 types of breads, some eggs, sausage, yogurt or cereal, fruits with a pot of coffee or tea! That's quite a breakfast to start the day. The hotel also provides PJs which became handy as I sent my PJs in advance to another hotel. It was a life saver. The hotel has also services to send luggage to you next destination with a fee. I give it a 7 star out of 5 stars.

This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff was the most helpful we have ever experienced. My daughter forgot her phone on the Shinkansen train, and the staff managed to contact the train lost and found, and provided all the details for us to recover it. The same staff provided itineraries to get to booked activities that were out of town, and made phone calls for us to make sure everything was in order. Breakfast was excellent. The room had a bathroom, shower and bath that was huge. The water pressure was unusually exceptional. The beds were comfortable, and extra beds were provided for the kids (without us even having to ask). I would recommend a stay at this hotel without reservation if staying in kyoto (or placing day trips into Osaka)

This exceptional hotel is worth a visit if you plan to travel to Kyoto. Our family rented a Deluxe Twin Room and a Superior Twin Room (located on the same floor). The service was professional and friendly. The staff goes out of their way to help when they can (they helped book a last-minute dinner reservation at a nearby yakiniku restaurant and coordinated baggage delivery to our next hotel), and the rooms were comfortable, spacious, and well appointed. The bathroom shower/tub area was huge! I highly recommend the Kyoto Shijo Takakura Hotel Grandereverie and would happily stay here again.

2 blocks directly south of the west end of Nishiki Market, 1 block south of Kawaramachi Street, on a side street 50m long with a dozen restaurants - what's not to like? Boutiquey feel and the staff were English-speaking (mostly), extremely and proactively helpful.

Breakfast had to be taken in the room and was quite average. More choice and less waste would have been better but it was a sound business decision and the good bits more than made up for it. Price was a little on the high side but that was a known factor. Bathroom had a jacuzzi-sized tub but no jacuzzi - to distract the likely honeymoon couple target guests.

The front desk staff is 15/10! So helpful, so nice. They go above and beyond. I would hire them all if I had a hotel! Excellent location, comfortable bed, large room. Nice little amenities in the room like a hairbrush, razor, tea, etc.

The room had a very strong musty mildew smell. I ran the bathroom fan, heat, and air purifier constantly and it didn’t change. I think they may need to replace carpeting or something. In addition I don’t know that they gives cleaning staff enough time to clean. The lobby and rooms were dusty and the shower tiles needed scrubbing and sealing.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in July and had a great experience. The location of the hotel is perfect: it is centrally located: only 1 min walk to the closest subway station so it's easy to take subway to visit other parts of the city. It is located on a quiet street, but it's also so close to the main shopping street - Daimaru department store is only 1 min away. Lots of restaurants nearby as well. The room is large and clean. Had everything we needed and more. We especially love the big bath tub and the traditional Japanese style shower area where you sit on a wooden stool and shower - good experience. The service is exceptional. You leave your room key with the hotel staff at the front desk when you leave, and you collect your key from them when you return. They recognize you so you don't need to tell them your room number. It made us feel like home. Hiroki from the front desk is very helpful and helped us pointing directions, booking taxis and making reservations at local restaurants - you need someone who speaks Japanese to call the restaurant to make reservations on your behalf because the restaurants, especially the traditional ones, don't really take online reservations. Overall a great hotel and highly recommended.

Everything about this boutique hotel was quality over quantity. Coming back to the hotel after exploring all day felt like a welcome relief where I could truly relax after. From the furniture and decor to the bathroom fixtures, everything was newer and well maintained. The staff was very helpful in assisting with food/restaurant recommendations and reservations. Special shout out to the housekeeping staff who never seemed to miss any small detail when resetting the room each day, showing a lot pride in their work.

I was traveling alone so I opted for a smaller room. The staff had pushed the 2 twin beds together for me but despite the “bridge-padding” you could feel a slight gap between. Still had a restful sleep! But if I’m lucky enough to return to Kyoto, I’ll definitely stay here again but opt to book a larger room that allows for a true king bed and the larger onsen-like bathroom.

The hotel was a great location, close to a big shopping street and also metro station. The hotel and the room was very clean. Our room had a bath, the whole room is quite new and spacious. The hotel staff was amazing, everybody spoke English. They were attentive and pro-active in helping us finding transportation to the airport in the end of our stay. The breakfast was also delicious and brought to our room on time every morning. There are restaurants all around the hotel.

It's a smaller hotel, so they didn't have a washing machine and dryer were you can wash your clothes yourself. They do offer a service which washes your clothes in 2 days though.

The location of the hotel is perfect and close to the Main Street Shijo-dori where you can find all sorts of shops for food, souvenirs, shopping and restaurants. Basically you can get everything there. One particular area that amazes us is how polite and responsive the hotel staff is to address your needs. We had a wonderful stay with my wife and toddler during our stay with amazing breakfast delivered right to our room and excellent hospitality. They even prepared some energy gels and drinks for my Kyoto Marathon 2024! Beyond satisfied! Although the room is slightly smaller than we expect, that’s alright and still has ample room for us to maneuver around with 3 big luggages. The bathroom is another highlight where my toddler enjoyed so much with a super big bathtub where we all can enjoy after a long day of walking around the city.

We loved the location of this hotel to the main shopping area of Shijo, near Nishiki market and the beautiful backstreets of Gion, and it was so quiet. The room was comfortable, impeccably clean and beautifully appointed with luxurious bathroom products. The bed was extremely comfortable and warm. The breakfast delivered to our room every morning was served hot and included a good selection of fresh and delicious foods. The staff were friendly and helpful and they went out of their way to make us feel so welcome.
