Hotel Saint-Charles

Unexpectedly nice hotel in a calm but lively part of Paris. Everything looked fresh and well-maintained and the hotel is bigger, newer, and more professional than I would have expected when booking/from the outside. The room was quite spacious and convenient, with a good bed, nice bathroom, safe and fridge. Lots of nice bars and restaurants around, and the metro is quite close. Staff were helpful.

As is to be expected in Paris, the price is quite high for what you get - but compared to its competitors, this hotel is still quite affordable. Check-out quite early at 11.00, but the staff let you store your luggage at the hotel after checkout. Google may recommend you get out at metro station Corvisart, but the recommended walk from there includes stairs - not great with suitcases. Use Place d'Italie instead.

The hotel is in a cute quiet area, and in a decent walking distance or train ride to most tourist attractions in the area. The hotel itself didn't seem busy allowing us to relax and chill in our room without any disturbances.

The rooms are quite small, but then again I think thats most of Paris architecture. Only other thing is the sink drain is large, so if you're doing your makeup or anything near here be aware that things may go down the drain!

The location is good: 6-8 minutes to metro line 6 and 7. There are lots of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and bakeries in the neighborhood. The staff are friendly and helpful. They allowed us an early checked in when we arrived.

Our room was on the ground floor and the room is always dark. Besides we saw a LOT of ants in our bags when we brought some biscuits in our room.

Great location next to two metro stations (corvisant, place d italie) from which you can go almost everywhere. (Line 6 is connected to orly bus - the bus from the Orly airport and to Eiffel Tower). Also the area near the hotel has many great cafeterias and restaurants that we really enjoyed. Moreover, it's close to the Place d Italie where you can find more bar-restaurants and a big mall. In general it s a beautiful and safe family area! The hotel room was nice and clean with everything you may need. We would stay there again!

The check out is a little bit earlier than the usual, at 11:00am.

The location is fantastic: very central in a lovely residential area. We returned to this hotel (after over 16 years) as we liked this arrondissement so much. There are fabulous restaurants, lovely bars and food stores nearby. The hotel is very close to two Metro stops making it very convenient to travel around the city. The air conditioning in the rooms is excellent in such hot weather: thank you! There is a kettle in the room with tea and coffee. There is a working fridge.

The older bespectacled man at Reception was extremely unwelcoming and rude. He is needlessly argumentative and confrontational. We even heard him arguing with someone over the telephone for a good ten minutes, ignoring us. He should not be working in a customer-facing industry and is a total liability to this hotel. It is solely down to him that this review has been marked down. Everyone else working there was friendly and fine and this is not a reflection on them. The shower in our room did not have a shower tray so water got everywhere. However, the water was hot and water pressure strong. The room is on the small side.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was constantly at a nice temperature (especially as it was freezing outside) and exceptionally clean. The staff are really lovely, any questions asked they would try and help immediately. In terms of location, it was nice for us to not be in the centre but it's a short (I'd say 15 min) metro ride to the city centre. There are two metro stations you can pick from, Corvisart (3 min walk from hotel) or Place D' Italie (about a 10 min walk) that can take you there. The Italie station is more central so lots of restaurants around there if you come back to the hotel late one night and fancy something a bit more 'local'! There's also a bakery that's within a 1 minute walk of the hotel, L'Artisan, which I'd recommend anyone visiting (get the pain au raisin!) All-in-all we loved the hotel and will stay here again on our next visit.

We need to start starting it's a 3 star hotel. So certain expectations of higher end hotels should not be expected. However, it was a very comfortable, safe and enjoyable hotel. I am a woman traveling with 2 kids. I felt safe and taken care of at all moments. The locaction of the hotel was great. Not an overly touristy hotel but centered in an everyday neighborhood. Lots of restaurants and supermarkets around.

I didn't like the location of the room within the building ( in front of elevator) however it really wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. In fact we didn't hear anything.

The cleanliness of the room -cleaned and towels changed daily- the helpfulness of the staff, the proximity to the metro station and many local restaurants. The shower was amazing and felt so good after long days of sightseeing. The breakfast was very good though the same each day. However, it was plentiful and of good value.

We did have a problem with the shower being blocked and not attended to the first day it was reported but someone was there within minutes the following day and solved the problem. To be fair, we did not realize the problem still existed until the next morning. The message may not have been relayed the first time or perhaps no one was available since it was a Sunday. The room was on the small side though I knew this in advance. It was, however, perfectly adequate for our needs.

The location was in a neighborhood about 5-10 minutes walking from 2 subway locations we used to travel to all of the tourist attraction sights. There are MANY restaurants in the area. The room was very clean and the air conditioner worked well. There is a minimum temperature allowed so the room wasn't cold but cool and comfortable which was important as we were there during the summer time. Staff were helpful when we did interact.

The only complaint we had was the breaking down of the elevator towards the end of our stay. After being tourist all day (all day walking around), walking up 4 flights of stairs wasn't easy nor when we departed with our luggage. They tried to get it fixed immediately but a part was needed and there was a holiday which extended the repair time. Things like that just happen and not a deal breaker by any means.

The staff were all lovely, the beds are comfortable and the shower was brilliant. Everything you need is available - a reasonable but simple range of drinks at the bar and the breakfast buffet ticks all the boxes. The windows open in the room and bathroom and the street and area has a lovely atmosphere without being busy. Little markets, some street food, a few bars in side streets and a supermarket 5 minutes away.

It’s a little far out from the ‘must sees’ but we chose to walk and taxi everywhere as the metro seemed a bit daunting (we know no French - our fault) , so walking is time consuming and taxi-ing becomes a bit expensive. That said when you weigh up the cost of this hotel vs more central ones I think we still managed a nice trip without breaking the bank. The room was small but everything was comfortable and we really were only there to sleep, shower and breakfast (and have the odd glass of wine). The windows opened so it was a great help to have fresh air into the small space
