The hotel is located just in the old town, within a hundred yards or so of the Black Gate. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the hotel offers a good breakfast. The staff are also extremely pleasant and helpful and in our case they needed to be. We had booked for one night, but due to a motorcycle breakdown we were stuck in Trier for over three weeks and they managed to provide accommodation, extended almost on a daily basis, for the full time. For any other bikers out there, there is a motorcycle parking area right in front of reception.

There is nothing to dislike.

The receptionist was excellent, pleasant friendly and very helpful and the room was lovely! An extremely comfortable bed, luxurious bathroom and everything was spotless.

The dictatorial attitude of the breakfast manager. She was abrupt, rude and unhelpful. She tried to put us on an upstairs table despite my explanation that I found stairs very difficult and I wouldn’t be able to carry my breakfast. When we found a table downstairs she shouted at us for taking it. Parking was 200 metres away from the hotel

The room we had was newly renovated. It was a Deluxe room. Super super new, bright, clean and beautiful. The room we had was at the front of the Hotel - on the second floor. The Hotel is located adjacent the Porta Nigra and Altstad. And they have a free open-air parking just 200 away from the Hotel which is quite unique in a location like this.

Besides our room, the rest of the hotel should need the same upgrade as the room we had. I'm not complaining, but it is a little bit outdated.

We were pleased with our brief stay at the Hotel Römischer Kaiser. While the style of the hotel is certainly not "contemporary" and while the comfort level is definitely not "luxury", our room was fair sized, quiet, very clean and satisfactorily equipped. In particular the WiFi was good, the shower excellent and the towels plentiful and in good condition. Given that the hotel is very conveniently located, provides free parking and has an elevator, we would describe it as a reasonably priced, rather comfortable traditional hotel. Check-in and check-out were handled efficiently and in a friendly manner. Maps of the city center and other information for visitors were readily available.

For a longer stay we would have been keen to have a refrigerator/minibar in the room. Our room was not air-conditioned but it did have sun awnings. In any event although the weather was exceptionally hot, our room did not become horribly hot.

Friendly & helpful staff. Room with plenty of space and a view of the city. Comfortable bed. Great location, <10 mins walk from railway station and from historic town centre.

Wifi signal was weak / unreliable in my room. Double bed was two twins that could move apart if pushed. Room would be bad for a business trip, as the desk was mostly occupied by a v large TV so nowhere to work.

The room was good, with a nice view of rooftops and, because we were on the 6th floor, a skylight in the bathroom which was great. Lovely location, able to hear the church bells. Right on the main tourist area, across from the Porta Nigra - perfect.

Would have wanted a little more desk space. Had to move the TV and phone to get space for the laptop. Otherwise all was great.

The rooms were very clean and warm (I stayed in a cold March week), the bathroom was also perfect. Location is great - less than 10 minutes from the main train station and 2 minutes from the city center. Perfect for people without a car!

Wi-Fi on the last floor was both very weak as signal and also very slow. I think there was a problem with a WiFi Router, because on lower floors the signal was fine.

Bath was bigger than expected. The location is perfect. Breakfast is good, everyone gets his own egg - different kinds. Room is OK. For all who say the interior is too old. I am travelling for visiting points outside, so it is not important for me, if there is a older wooden wardrobe.

Substantial breakfast with attentive staff. Reception staff were both very helpful and provided free tea on arrival; tea also available during our stay. Secure parking provided within easy reach of the hotel. A wonderful location right next to monuments and museums.

The expelaire in the ensuite didn't work that well.

Location was excellent. Breakfast was excellent and good value for the selection.

The staff did not know there was a 24 hour restaurant nearby. I found it eventually myself eventually but it would have been helpful if they had told me when I asked. I arrived late at the hotel and was hungry so was looking for something to eat after 11 pm at night.
