Superb location next to rideau canal and opposite parliament building. Close to numerous restaurants. Staff were very helpful and easily managed to book us fir an extra night

Considering only parking option was valet parking $53 dollars a night was a bit steep I contacted the hotel in advance to make sure I booked a room with a walk in shower. Although they booked us an accessible room it was quite small and not much room to walk about. Totally unable to use swimming pool as completed inaccessible due to amount of stairs down to pool and no way of getting in or out of pool. No separate and gender neutral disabled toilet facilities so husband had to struggle on his own

Nice historic hotel. Perfect location, especially for Canada Day! Comfortable bed. Clean. Room with two bathrooms was awesome for our family.

There was a smell that happened with the plumbing that was bothersome. We mentioned it and they seemed very concerned. Should have mentioned it sooner. Should not have assumed that old hotels just have bad pipes. I’m sure they would have addressed it as soon as we noticed it.

The location was excellent!!!!! We were walking distance from museums, art galleries, waterfront, cultural places and restaurants. I also really appreciated that we could add an extra bed, because as a family of 5 (three kids) we can hardly find hotel rooms for 5 people!!

The style of the room and bathroom was maybe a little bit old fashioned. It may need some renovations. But they are overall acceptable!

The room was amazing, the hotel in general is incredible, it matches the expectations from the architecture. Close to everything. As someone that has already lived in ottawa, the location is great, really close to everything, the parliament, rideau mall center and the metro station at rideau for those who like, The restaurants at the Byward Market too.

the only thing is that the hotel is so big, that if you get a room in another alley, you have to walk a lot.

The location was so perfect, the hotel is beautiful. No matter where we walked to it was easy to locate our hotel by its majestic presence. Also the beds are extremely comfortable and we really liked that we could open a window to get fresh air.

We found the hotel quite pricey, so requiring us to also pay for internet on a daily basis was just too much especially when many small businesses including Starbucks, supply it for free. The hotel was very accommodating and did provide it for free when I questioned it, however realistically Wifi is a staple nowadays and should be included in the cost of your stay.

Breakfast and dinner was fantastic

My daughter noticed halfway home that her apartment key , gym key card and a leather fob were missing from her car keys. We had the car parked at the hotel. She called the hotel when we got home, but did not here anything back. The parking situation was crazy both coming in and leaving. We gave them a 30 minute heads up when we needed our car and then waited another half hour at the entrance. It was chaos.

Location is great

The hotel parking fee is very expensive, and guests should at least have discounts or free of charge. And I have paid the room fee on the booking, but the hotel still charged my room fee again by credit card, so that the process of negotiating a refund was very troublesome, which caused me a lot of inconvenience.

Location is absolutely great, walking distance to everything you might want to do/visit. The actual hotel is gorgeous, inside and outside, the staff is very helpful and willing to share tips or help if any issues. Gym is great, pool is a little small but ok, their restaurant/food is very tasty and you have many alternatives & options. Take a couple of hours and do visit the interior of the hotel as there are many places where you can relax and take wonderful pictures of the castle! Overall a great experience!

For a 5 stars hotel I found it a bit odd that they don’t have Slippers (but if you ask they will bring you a pair). There are many missing items in the bathroom (aside shower gel/shampoo/lotion) there is nothing else, so you need to make sure you won’t miss anything from home/supermarket :) The fridge/bar is empty, you don’t have the option to buy & pay if you need anything (like water or a snack). You cannot even find paper & pen if you need to leave a message for housekeeping, but again, these are small details only compared with the other Fairmont hotels we personally visited - but the staff is always available to help. Overall a great experience.

Location was amazing! We had the most beautiful view of the parliament building! The room was nice and big and you felt like royalty when you were there. The staff were exceptional. There was a movie being filmed in the chateau while we were there. It was very special and I'm glad we took the opportunity to book there. I loved that when we were out and about that it was obviously easy to locate our hotel, you just look up and there it is.

The beds were doubles, so it was a little more cozy for me and the family. With a price like that, you would think the wifi would be free, but it wasn't. There was no room in the fridge for our own things.

This is just as incredible as it sounds! There was a beautiful tray of decadent sweets with “Happy 50th wedding anniversary” written in icing, waiting for us in our room when we arrived. we were also given cards for free drinks or desserts from one of their restaurants. We used them for hot chocolate the morning we left. We took the 10:00am canal ride so they extended our check out time to accommodate us.
