More than anything, the staff at the hotel were exceptional in every way. The hotel front desk staff also act as concierges and they really went out of their way to help with every need and question I had. I want to send special thanks to Marta, Jorge, Ruben and Sarah for their courtesy, kindness, expertise and warmth. The cleaning staff are amazingly efficient and kind and the staff at breakfast was also wonderful and friendly. I hope upper level management recognizes and appreciates the talent they have! The location is central and though the hotel is in a heavy tourist area, there are quiet, beautiful streets in the immediate vicinity that are primarily the domain of local people who are going about their lives. The price is fair and the facilities and amenities are thoughtfully conceived and presented. Management appears to be committed to not wasting plastic, energy and labor (there are none of the awful individual plastic bottles that are so often offered in hotels). I hope the hotel will maintain this standard.

My only complaint was that there is an air freshener that is sprayed in the corridors. I am chemically sensitive and was bothered by transient periods of throat, breathing and eye irritation, however the staff was quick and very supportive. They quickly relocated me to an area of the hotel where the fumes were not present and said that if I was not comfortable, that I could relocate to another hotel. As it turned out, I was very comfortable in the new space with no symptoms. But I wish that upper level management would rethink this feature of the hotel.

the location was amazing - central to all the main attractions which meant everything was within walking distance from the hotel. the hotel staff were friendly too. Breakfast was okay too.

unfortunately the air conditioning was not working during our stay and the rooms were very warm. when asked about it, we were informed the air conditioning were not working. the weather in Madrid at the time were cool during the nights and warm in the day. we were advised to open the windows which did bring some cool air, however as the location was central it was very noisy outside. so it was a choice of either being really hot with no noise from outside or opening the window for cool air but very noisy - either way sleeping was hard. the hotel itself does not seem like a 4 star hotel due to its worn down furnitures and a damp smell around the corridors.

The location of this hotel is excellent. The room was very good and very clean. The large bed was comfortable and the shower room well fitted and modern. Every morning whilst at breakfast our room was cleaned/straightened/bed re-made. Fresh towels every day.

Nothing major at all, just small things like no coffee in the room or teaspoons, until we got one from the breakfast room. At breakfast shortage of desert sized spoons and very little bacon, coffee machine very slow.

Senda at the reception was very helpful from giving information to reserving tables. You cannot beat the location. It is right in front of Mercado San Miguel and a short walk to the world's oldest restaurant. I arrived late at night but I did not mind because everything is walking distance. The room is just the right size, clean and comfortable. It's just a nice treat to be able to go out and don't worry about commuting because everything is at your doorstep. Thank you Senda and the rest of the team for an awesome stay!

The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. Great location if you want to see Madrid. With a short walk to sol, for the metro getting around was easy.

The fact the hotel name is on the door card, if you lost it then anyone would know what hotel the card was for. Found it really strange they put an electric kettle in the room with no cups/mugs, so if you wanted to make a tea or coffee there was nothing to drink it out of.

Decided on this hotel because it was so near to many sights we wanted to see in Madrid. Also the fact it was almost next to the lively Playa Mayor, which came alive at night! I requested a lower floor and twin beds which I got. We didnt avail ourselves of the breakfast but we will next time. The reception staff were friendly and courteous, especially Senda who was always very helpful. Gave us information on the fabulous flamenco show we went to.

Struggling to think of anything I didnt like! If I've got to think this hard I dont think there is anything! Just thought of something...sitting at a restaurant nearby it occurred to me that the outside of the building might look a lot nicer in a different colour..but this doesnt distract from this lovely little hotel.

Excellent location! The hotel is in the heart of Madrid and within walking distance to so many stores, restaurants, and cultural attractions. The room was very clean and comfortable.

The breakfast was good but lacked variety. It was the same buffet food options every morning. Parking was a nightmare! The streets are very difficult to navigate by car and the instructions given by staff were not helpful.

Super location next to Plaza Mayor and many shops and restaurants. Rooms were comfortable and had a nice-sized bathroom. Our room on the 5th floor overlooked the Mercado Plaza Mayor. We had a family room and the teen kids stayed in the bunk bed without problems. The breakfast in the basement was good and had several choices. Enjoyed having on-site parking though it's a real tight fit under the hotel.

Not much to dislike through the parking rates (a sperate fee) were a bit higher than I think you can find elsewhere if you look. Also, getting there by car for the first time took us through some tight historic streets which was a bit challenging to find as you enter the parking garage from the back of the hotel then have to walk around with your luggage or hall them upstairs as there is no lift to the parking garage.

The location was close to a lot of places to visit and shop. The San Miguel Market was accross the street. The buffet breakfast was good. The bathroom was awesome as it was very big.

The bunk bed on the top didn't have much room and my son easily hit his head with the ceiling. Also, getting in and out of the bunk bed was cumbersome.

Absolutely the best location in Madrid - it's right outside Plaza Mayor! You can walk to so many attractions - it's as central as it gets. The staff were super friendly and gave me a kettle when I requested one. There's a Carrefour Express right next to the hotel to get some basic food and drink for the room. I didn't try the breakfast but I did see the basement area for breakfast and it seemed great. I don't need to look for a new hotel in Madrid for next time.
