The location was PRIME! Close the beach… literally 400 ft. Close to Il Gigante … the amazing statue of the man built into the Rocky Mountain side. Everything about our stay was perfect. The room overlooked the sea and had a view of the mountains as well. The staff.. Alina toast if the cleaning staff was awesome and very accommodating. Maria Ema was a funny and sweet concierge. Marta was also a sweet dear. Our first night.. we had just a room. I requested a room with a view. Marta gave us room 404. It wasn’t a newer modern room… but it was great. It had a balcony and awesome dual views. Get that room! The breakfasts were fantastic… and the woman who maintains the breakfast area was amazing. She will get you what you need. We like to tip… and tipping is a great motivator. The breakfasts were SPECTACULAR. WORTH IT!!! Spend the money! We spent 8 nights there. It’s our 3rd time to Cinque Terre… and this was our best stay. The courtyard was awesome for chilling after breakfast. I will only stay here from now on.

So many wonderful things. Read the above. View, breakfasts, courtyard, location, Marta, Maria Ema, Alina and our breakfast worker whose name escapes me. Wonderful trip!!

The location is perfect. The hotel is right next to the main beach in Monterosso and a stone's throw away from all of the restaurants and ice-cream shops in the area. The main station is only 5-10 minutes walk away too. The hotel itself is well managed and extremely clean. The staff are incredibly friendly and with just the right amount of Southern European sass to really make it feel 'Italian'. The breakfast area is large and the waitresses are incredibly efficient (I don't think I've been offered coffee more times in my life). Best part about the breakfast? The pastries. They're served warm, they're served often and they're served generously. Seriously folks - these are the kinds of pastries you'd get at a proper Italian coffee shop but you're getting them served as a hotel breakfast - I was shocked! (pleasantly so). One more thing. Air conditioning. I've been to plenty of hotels that 'say' they have air conditioning. However, one often encounters faulty units or units that only spew out mildly cold air. However, the air conditioners at Hotel Palme are superb and you'll never have any issues keeping your room chilled during the hot summer months.

The beds are a little too soft for my liking. This may well have to do with the fact that they don't seem to provide 'true' double beds but, instead, they shoved two singles together. This meant that there was a divot in the middle that may have sagged. The rooms themselves are small. No, I mean it - they tiny - to an uncomfortable degree. Overall, this isn't the size of room I expected at a 4 star hotel.

Everything! From the moment we checked in, Emma treated us as if we were the only guests. We enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to add another night to our reservation and she went over and above to accommodate us. She is a gem! The location was perfect. Just steps to the beaches of Monterosso, but secluded and quiet. The courtyard was a peaceful oasis, where we enjoyed cocktails from the bar. The breakfasts were unbelievable! The best we had in Italy. Hopefully we will return to the beautiful Cinque Terre and the Hotel Palme.

Breakfast was typical Continental but with plenty of options. Great shower with rainfall head. Location was close to beach and train station. About 15 min walk to the boat dock for ferry between towns through the tunnel. Several restaurants and bars nearby. Beautiful shaded courtyard was nice to relax in when it got hot. A/C worked well

Bed was very hard. Pillows were rocks. Some may like a bed that stiff, but my back didn't after lugging heavy bags through airports and train stations all day.

The location was quiet - exactly as we wanted it in Monterosso - but it was within easy reach of everything else in the village. The breakfast was excellent, especially with the facility to eat it in the garden. The staff were very helpful, friendly and pleasant. One of our group requested a change of room and this was dealt with efficiently and promptly. We were even supplied with a takeaway breakfast because our train left at 7am. The bar facilities were very good and the staff were very well versed in the drinks on offer.

Obviously the hotel is in the midst of a refurbishment programme and, while this did not interfere with our stay at all, some of the rooms must be in need of refurbishment.

The staff were fantastic :) Always a smile on their faces and always had a warm welcome. My husband and I would sit in the lovely courtyard after a nice swim in the ocean and enjoy a glass of wine. The staff member would also bring out a small bowl of peanuts, chips, salsa and olives to enjoy with our wine. It was an excellent touch.

The bed in our room was a bit too hard and the pillows a bit too flat. Just our preference for a more plush bed. The bathroom configuration could be changed to ensure a bigger shower. My husband is 6'5 and it was tight fit for him to get in and out of. The water was always hot when we showered so no complaints about not having hot water etc.

The people, the people, the people! The warmest most gracious staff. We can’t stop gushing about how amazing the staff is. The hotel itself is a bit funky. But that adds to the charm of this seaside village. The A/C was a god-send because it was hot during our stay. The room is small, and the bathroom tiny but once you get over the shock it’s very comfortable. Breakfast was good and they have a very cool espresso machine that lets you churn out your favorite coffee drink. And it’s a really short walk (5 minutes) from the Monterosso train station. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat.

No real complaints. The only thing I can think of is that we couldn’t get the in-room safe to work. I’ve never had a problem at any other hotel but it could still have been pilot error.

- great location - friendly staff - good free breakfast - nice shower - free bag hold - nice deck

- a little on the older side and outdated, one of the wall outlets was a bit off and would come unplugged easily - one key for two people; my friend who arrived first was told we had to leave it at the front desk every time we left. I was not told that when I arrived, so I carried it out of the building. - pillow was very uncomfortable. Neck hurt the next day.

I love the garden…. it was a perfect place to meet with my group, host a happy hour, and relax at the end of the day. the staff are AMAZING: they booked our restaurants, answers questions, treated us like gold, were fun yet professional. I ADORE the staff!!!

We had standard rooms. While the rooms are very clean, it’s important to know that they are truly “standard”: basic, simple, and functional. Four star hotels in other Italian locations will differ in this regard… and it is good for travelers to know that. If you don’t plan on spending a lot of time in your room (perhaps most don’t) it’s a perfect place to sleep soundly. if your expecting something similar to a four star hotel in Rome or Florence, such expectations may lead to disappointment, and are not realistic is this slice of paradise. I would happily stay here again…

Loved the outdoor sitting area which was large with lots of tables and chairs. There was a lot of variety for breakfast. The bed was comfortable and the shower had lots of hot water and a good flow. The room was quite large and modern. It's in a great location close to the beach.

The bathroom was a bit small but functional with everything needed. With only 1 pillow pp provided, the staff were very responsive to our request for 2 more.
