The Ashbee is a true sanctuary from the hustle of the tourist beaten pavements of Taormina. From the moment the gates closed behind the car when we arrived to the time we drove out three days later to our next destination, we enjoyed impeccable service, peace in the gardens and pool, remarkable food and a place to exhale and relax. This is a truly fine boutique hotel with a Michelin star restaurant that transports you back to a time of quiet quality and premium service. No request was too much trouble. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the pool has views down the cliff over the beaches up the coast. If you want to visit the beaches, the gondala down is 5 minutes walk away. Something to note, the Michelin star restaurant is in itself a reason to come to Taormina. They offer a 5 or 7 course degustation or you can order off the menu - however ordering off the menu would be to deny yourself the full spectrum of "food as art" that is prepared here. I can't do justice to the quality of the food in this review, but I would rate it as among the finest food I have enjoyed at a Michelin restaurant. They only set up for a small capacity seating, something like 8 tables - this means you must book in advance or risk being disappointed. If you can't get a booking for your stay, change the dates of your stay - it's that good. The rooms are excellent - large, comfortable, all the required tech executed in a style in keeping with the property. Housekeeping was excellent. We enjoyed a large private terrace with a view back to the village - perfect for an evening of room service (this too was superb quality food and drink). There are plenty of staff, they remember your name, and and do everything they can to make the stay your most memorable experience. Yes, this is a very expensive hotel by comparison to other hotels in Taormina, but at no point did I feel it was bad value or that I was being taken advantage of.

The Ashbee could make better use of their magnificent inside lounge area for food and drinks. That's all. I really can't ask for more, our stay was outstanding in all respects.

private hotel, close walk to the town center. rooms were comfortable and clean and staff was very attentive. The housekeeping was very good and come in to do turndown service. The breakfast was wonderful and the pool cafe was very tasty yet pricey.

We booked the superior room (most basic) and it was on the ground floor so it was a bit noisy with the guests in the room above walking around and moving furniture late / early in the morning. With the wood floors you can hear everything, it almost sounded like someone was in our room walking around.

The standard of the structure and furnishings of the hotel is superb and the friendly and helpfulness of the staff is a huge compliment to the hotel and very much appreciated. The restaurant quality and presentation is 10/10 and the setting is beautiful. Breakfast is also served in a great location with tremendous view of the coast below and hotel swimming pool. Plus there is everything you could possibly want and all is available on the menu to satisfy everyone.

Wonderful hotel in a perfect position for walking into Taormina, literally on the doorstep. Nice pool with plenty of sun beds and all the staff in the hotel very friendly and helpful. Really good quality hotel with charm.

The location is perfect, tucked away but minutes from restaurants, sights etc. The staff were attentive and helpful. We ate at St Georges restaurant while we were there, food, service, ambience was just perfect, it is a bit pricey but worth every penny. Memorable. House keeping was excellent too, I also loved the bubbly with breakfast!

I had the room upstairs closest to the street (37) which was a bit noisy. And every morning I would hear dishes being brought in and out which would wake me up. Walls are thin and I could hear the neighbor’s tv early in the morning as well.

Over complicated room IT system meant our room was not cleaned and no water supplied on arrival or day 2 (as a result of the above overcomplicated system telling the cleaner we were in when we were out)

breakfast was poor, poached eggs served cold in a bowl, fried eggs burnt. coffee served very strong. Room smelt damp, no usb ports & shower head and ceiling above needed attention.
