Very close to the train station, comfortable room and close to restaurants and shops so perfect for my purposes as an overnight stop en route to another city.

Finding the hotel took some time. The hotel directions suggested a route from the train station down Calle dei Bergamaschi that appeared to be closed off by a gate (and in any case did not have an obvious street sign) so it took a couple of passes before working out how to reach it down Calle Traghetto Vecchio. For anyone else arriving from Santa Lucia with the same issue, you can turn left down Calle Traghetto Vecchio which is the alley just before you reach Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal and take the first right, then go left again and you will see a courtyard on the right with Hotel Carlton Capri on the other side.

* Location: Minutes of walk away from Venezia Santa Lucia train station, yet very quiet because the building is somewhat hidden from busy streets. * Staff: Everyone at the front desk (we think we interacted with at least four) were friendly and helpful. * Heating: Many Italian hotels turn off heating in shoulder seasons, but here the heating worked nicely.

* Layout of bathroom: This being Venice, most hotels are in renovated old buildings that understandably limit how rooms may be laid out. We stayed in two rooms, and one bathroom in particular was long and narrow, where the glass partition (for shower) of bathtub would swing open toward... the toilet, meaning it took some maneuvering to get in and out of bathtub without rubbing against the toilet. * Soundproofing: Street noise is not a problem thanks to the location, but we could hear people snoring from the adjacent room.

Hotel was not straight forward to find but if you find the upmarket sister hotel opposite the railway station the small gated ally on the right side of hotel (gate is shut around 8pm) it will take you straight to the hotel. The ally on the left side of the sister hotel will also take you to hotel but you will need to turn right about 100m between two buildings. Breakfast was a buffet, lots of people eating there cereal with a tea spoon hint cereal spoons are under a napkin on the buffet table. Staff were really helpful and pleasant. Hotel is expensive for a 3 star but this is Venice so if you are looking for a clean hotel in a good location with great staff this hotel could be for you.

Took a while to find hotel.

The location was easy to get to, not far from the bus station after I arrived from the airport, and close to the train station too, which was handy for me travelling with a rolling suitcase. There were some nice restaurants nearby for food and drinks, and a little supermarket a few minutes away. It was easy to walk to the sights, but the water bus stop at the station was close if you didn’t feel like walking. Staff were helpful and the room was clean. There was a lift, and the possibility of storing luggage if needed. I did not have breakfast, opting to visit cafes nearby instead.

The shower cubicle was a little small, but that’s just nitpicking!

The location is close to the train station, so we didn't need to worry about carrying our luggage too far, but you do need to cross one fairly large bridge to get there. It was a bit difficult with a large suitcase. Also, the breakfast was great and inexpensive.

There was a tiny lizard in our bathtub one evening. We called the staff to come take care of him and I thought he was going to kill it! But the lizard ran down the drain before we had a chance to do anything. So then the staff just turned on the water and washed out the tub. I guess this isn't much of a negative unless you have a fear of lizards. It would have been a big negative if he had actually squished the lizard though.

The hotel is very conveniently located at 7 minutes walk from Piazzale Roma, which is great because we could avoid taking the expensive vaporetto. The Santa Croce area is very enjoyable and authentic, with good restaurants practicing much more affordable prices than in the busy districts of Rialto and San Marco. Also within short walking distance you can visit the amazing Scuola Grande di San Rocco and Santa Maria dei Frari church. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and well-appointed, a combination of the stately and elegant Venetian historic style with modern fixtures and appliances. There is a very nice and relaxed atmosphere which puts you right into holiday mood. The staff was very welcoming, advising on nearby attractions, restaurants and being so kind to keep our luggage in the last day.

Everything was great, nothing to dislike

Staff were very helpful on a range of issues including the location of a nearby laundromat, luggage storage on checkout day (can be accommodated). Location was quiet. Room was made up each day. Breakfast in the hotel was very good and we thought offered value for cost of 10 Euros. Hotel had an elevator. Location of hotel was excellent - 5 minute walk from train station and from bus station and taxis. Because of the hotel’s proximity to the Grand Canal, we could board a vaparetto (motorized public water bus) to any part of the city rather than trying to walk the labyrinthine pathways of the city.

Hotel was older in keeping with the age of the city, but that didn’t cause us any problem. If you want a modern hotel you will have to pay more; I can’t say that modern hotels exist in Venice because of the age of the city and the issues caused by rising water levels.

It is quite close to the train station and Piazzale Roma but it is little bit far away from the San Marco square. It took nearly half an hour to reach the San Marco by walking. The room was spacious enough for 2 night stay. The bed was very comfy and everything was clean. There was no noise during night. I would definitely choose this hotel again in my next Venice trip.

It was not a problem for us but the elevator reaches only the third floor. For those who has walking difficulties or heavy luggages, I would recommend to them to request a room in the first 3 floors.

Everything was perfect the room was clean, and just right.

Since it is down an alley as many places are in Venice, at night they close the closest alley which is a straight walk to the hotel to one that is long and winding. At night it was an uncomfortable inconvenience until I knew how to get there. It should have been communicated at the time of check in. I only found out when I went to the sister property facing the canal. Each time however, the staff was so nice and patient with me explaining the route. I was exhausted from my flight and entire day of fun in Venice which didn’t help.

Overall, our stay in this hotel has been nothing but amazing. The reception and the other hotel staff are so helpful, the breakfast is good, the location is a little bit far from the centre but ofc you have to pay more if you want to stay nearby st.mark. its 45 mins from san marco with water bus, and 13 mins if you took water taxi. The hotel is clean and has good ambience. Its really worth the money.

The wall is really not soundproof. On our first night, the couple who stay next to our room are fighting. And we could literally heard everything for our room.
