Sonesta Simply Suites Detroit Troy

The front desk staff was very accommodating even though they were short-staffed. Our first room had a terrible smell in the bathroom (previous guest must have smoked in the bathroom) so they were able to easily change our room for the next night. New room was excellent--clean, very well laid out, spacious and fully equipped with everything you need for being away from home. The location was very quiet and off the main road. I did not have a chance to use the gym but it looked very adaquate.

The place is located in a strange corporate park off of E. Big Bear Road but hard to turn directly into the complex. You either have to do a lot of U-turns or go back the entrance and double back. Some of the carpeting (in the stairwell) is dated and needs replacing.

Staff were always helpful to me. I also really appreciated the washers and dryers that guests can use for free , 24 hours daily - a real time saver and benefit. And the price point is very economical.

Phone in rooms and in entrance are no longer operational. Why have them? It's frustrating when a client wants to call the front desk to ask a question, and picks up a phone expecting it to work and it does not. The WIFI was iffy the first few days, not being able to connect frequently. On days 4-7, I was able to connect, But I only used it for basic needs. Large, deep pothole at the end of driveway before you turn into the hotel car park. A potential tire destroyer that should be fixed.

Rarely come to this neck of the woods and never heard of this hotel. Great location, big rooms and kitchens.

The whole idea of incidentals feels like flying on Frontier. You reserve the room at a given price, then when you checkin, they add $100 for extras in advance. Extra Hour past checkout? $25. Now, I totally get the adds and I understand the charges. Now the cliffhanger starts to see what I'll get back in 4 business days. Just like Frontier, when you get used to the game and you can trust they will do the accounting correctly, it is fine. But it is a different experience than a Residence inn checkin.

We had a great stay at the Sonesta Simply Suites in Troy. It was a good location for our short time there and was close by to many restaurants and other amenities. The room was spacious with a full kitchenette, and the layout of the room and bathroom worked very well. Also, there was excellent water pressure in the shower too which we appreciated. We were driving by car here and there was plenty of free parking. We would consider staying again if we were visiting the area.

Location and felt safe!

I did not like my interaction I had with the reception/staff when I asked to replenish the body wash in the bathroom. She came into my room and asked me to do something which I did not understand. I asked her again but still could not understand what she wanted me to do. I could feel that she is either frustrated or upset. Finally she did what she wanted me to do which is to open the shower kit (conditioner, body wash & shampoo) with a thing that looks like a key. I called her out about being upset with me and she said she was not. Yes. She was! After I called her out, her attitude toward me changed for the better!

nice staff at the very beginning to the end , the guests are also great , so very comfortable . WIFI works well , inside room is really ok with kitchen staff which i wish my family with me , since drive in , the location is quite good and convenient .

gym is ok , if a pool will be nice , i know this area is cold in winter , maybe inside will cause a lot , and if also provide some simple quick breakfast will be even better as takeaway already avaible .

The room was attractive and clean. The bed was perfect. Having an office space and a coffee maker and kitchenette with adequate dishes, pots, and silverware was a pleasant bonus. I also appreciated having places to hang towels in the bathroom. The room temperature was warm and comfortable.

They provided coffee but no form of creamer. I bought almond milk but didn't notice the refrigerator was turned off.

Close to everything. Am going to Karmanos in Detroit for chemo treatments. Even with all the roadwork and traffic on I75 it never took us more then 23 minutes to get there as the freeway entrance is just a mile down the road. Love the staff and the kitchenette set up too. Will most definitely book again for my treatments as it’s a 3-4 days procedure I’m currently on. Extra benefit, it was a great price for our extended stay. Thanks Sonesta for ‘simply’ in Troy for making everything easier and more comfortable.

There really wasn’t anything we didn’t like.

We had a clogged toilet that ended up overflowing (not the hotel’s fault at all!) and the front desk staff came up immediately to assist, bringing towels and bags and then the housekeeping staff came to assist - cleaning up all the towels and helping fix the problem. In a no-fun situation, this staff was absolutely outstanding!! The best! I was so thankful for their help and their kindness during our stay. I would stay here again, one thousand times over. The staff really did a fantastic job and I can’t thank them enough. Above and beyond!!!

Nothing.

The size of the room was very good, had a full kitchen and the bathroom wasn't too bad. The location is very well, the express way is very close and it is also near somerset mall. Lots of great restaurants nearby.

The only time there was room service was Wednesdays, didn't really like how I couldn't get towels refreshed everyday. Other than that there wasn't anything too bad. The people next to us were noisy but, that didn't bother us too much.
