This was a clean and comfortable place to stay with a baseball theme. It was also my most inexpensive stay, and I feel I got great value for everything. I loved that they had a fully clean bathtub in the restroom. It was within a good walking distance from the subway station and had great food options nearby. The staff was also super welcoming. The lounge looked really cool; it had games and a TV, and it would be a nice place to hang out, but it does close at midnight, so I didn't spend too much time there. Overall, I would definitely stay again.
The lockers should be way bigger. It should at least be big enough to fit a laptop. And the lounge hours should be extended or even 24/7! It looked like a fun place to hang out so why not?

My favourite hostel out of 20+ I’ve stayed in while in Japan! This place is AWESOME! Firstly, the location is great - only 8 mins walk to the main JR station and super close to convenience stores and really nice okonomiyaki restaurant. The owner even made a map with recommendations. The owner is so nice and speaks really good English. The whole time I was there the place was absolutely spotless, so so clean even for Japan. And, uncommonly for Japan, there was a really big common area/lounge with loads of games, books and things for you to hang out with where you can meet people and chat. Capsule was spacious and comfy, the bedding was also very soft and I slept so well when I was there. No noise or disturbance from the sports bar downstairs. This place is a must stay in Hiroshima, especially if you’re a solo traveller!
Nothing, it was fantastic!

The host knew enough English to have a conversation with and was friendly. He took the time to go through the guidebook with me about how to use the lockers, wifi, etc. The place is only a 10 minute walk from Hiroshima station. It is very clean and I felt safe. I was also impressed by the community room upstairs. It's spacious, has a place for video games, a comic book collection, and chill atmosphere. There is a washer and drier area on the top floor, and you don't have to bring your own detergent because it's automatically added.
There's no breakfast option. The bathroom is shared and you have to go out into the hall for it (though this is the same for other Japanese places I've stayed). The beds can be a little uncomfortable since they're wooden boxes with thin mattresses and blankets, but I slept fine after the first night of getting used to it.

It's as if the hostel is designed by someone exactly understanding what you desire to have as a traveler: big bed spaces, powder room, good shower pressure, clean, kitchen with all basic stuff, an outdoor area, cheap washing machines, a massive lounge with games, tables, and comfy couches, lots of lockers, a bar downstairs, and even the big dorms have enough feeling of privacy. Very friendly (and English speaking) staff too! Location is not the most buzzing but its nice and quiet and still super close to everything.
Maybe the ventilation in the big lounge. It seemed a bit hot and stuffy, which made me feel a tad dizzy. The lounge is officially part of the bar, so when there is an event on you might not be able to use it for some hours (dont think that happens too often tho). Its a sports bar/hostel, so the atmosphere/design is as such. Beds/pillows were pretty nice, but maybe not for people who like it soft and fluffy.

We had a nice stay at Red Helmet. We arrived in the morning and were able to leave our luggage until check-in. The beds in the dorm were spacious and with all necessities, the kitchen and the living room a good place to hang out in the evening! Walking distance to the train station, also some conbini and restaurants around. Staff was super friendly and helpful, let us borrow the vacuum cleaner to vacuum-pack some of our clothes for the journey! :)

It was very clean and there were only 2 other people in the female dormitory, so we had plenty of place. There is a whole floor only for women with an own bathroom. The staff was very nice and helpful.
There is only one shower for the whole female dormitory plus the 4-bed-room. Of course you can go to the mixed floor and take a shower there but there are many people staying there as well, so I don't know if that makes sense. The common room is connected to the sportsbar with open stairs, so if it is loud in the sportsbar, it is also loud in the hostel's common room.

The location is close to Hiroshima Station and other local lines. It's also close to a location that seemed quite busy at night, but despite that the location was very quiet at night. I stayed a total of 3 nights in the Mixed Dorm and at first I was worried that the futon wasn't that thick, but I was able to sleep quite well despite that. I also liked that there was a community kitchen with a fridge, microwave, and stove. I used the fridge and didn't have any issues with my stuff being eaten. However the best part of my stay with chatting with the owner. He was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. I got some recommendations on places I could go in lieu to my next destination and travel suggestions for next time I'm in Hiroshima.
Since I went during a busy travel season the dorm was filled with people, so at night it felt kind of stuffy and too warm for me when I had my capsule curtain closed. Also, I would suggest bringing ear plugs and an eye mask to assist you with falling and staying asleep if you're also traveling during a busy travel season.

Close to the train station, super close to the baseball station and under an hours walk to the Peace park. You really can’t complain about the location of this place. The facilities are good, kitchen has everything you need and the staff are great!
The bed was a futon and after a few nights it was a little firmer than you’d probably want if I’m honest!

March 2023
I had booked a bed in a shared room with space for 12 women, but we were maximum three people, so I had a lot more privacy than expected! I had also been worried about noise given that it's attached to a sportsbar, but that wasn't an issue at all! (I don't think it was game night while I stayed there, though)
The toilet and sinks were a little badly placed on the women's floor... There's both a sink inside the women's dorm (right next to beds) and out in the hallway outside the room to the toilet. This meant that if/when I wanted to brush my teeth or wash my hands late at night, I had the choice between definitely bothering the people in my dorm or potentially bothering people on other floors, which was a little awkward.

The staff is the greatest part of the hostel, so friendly, passionate and helpful ! I will have a great memory of them It was also very clean and the place is from 10 minutes to the Hiroshima station so you can go to a lot of places Also you can sit on the roof and watch the trains pass by (like in a drama haha), pretty cool
The only « bad » thing is the sink of the women’s dormitory which is inside the dormitory whereas it’s inside the bathroom for the men (and they have 3 sinks lol, I know there are more men in the hostel but it’s kinda unfair) So it’s not really practical when you want to brush your teeth or just wash your face, it can wake up everyone lol
