The location and breakfast were beyond satisfying. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting Arashiyama, and the river view from the window is stunning, with pleasant sounds of the water. During my stay, it rained quite a bit in the early morning, but the soundproofing was so good that I didn't even notice until I opened the window. The sound of the rain and the flowing river was quite loud and surprising when I did. I highly recommend including breakfast; it's better than many high-end restaurants, beautifully presented, and delicious. However, the pickles might be too salty for some; if you prefer less salty food, I'd suggest informing the front desk in advance. The room might feel small, but considering the price and typical room sizes in Japan, it’s not a major issue. The staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to assist with any inquiries, not just about the stay but also regarding local facilities and transportation. I felt genuine kindness from all the staff members, making it a wonderful experience.
If I had to point out a slight drawback, the 10 AM checkout time felt a bit early. It would have been more convenient if it were around 11 AM, allowing for a more leisurely departure. However, after checking out, I was able to leave my luggage with the staff and continue sightseeing in the area, which was great. The staff were very accommodating and made the process of storing my luggage hassle-free.

The hotel itself is a bit older but awesomely maintained. The room was spotless. The beds where extremely comfy. And I had a marvellous view on the river. Although the water makes quite some noise due to a close waterfall, you barely heard any sound through the insulated windows. I can also imagine it's very nice in summer, since you can listen to the water sound with the windows open while there are insect nets in front of the windows.
The only thing I was missing was a bathing powder or so to make use of the nice little bathtub :)

The hotel was close to the famous Arashiyama bamboo forest, and we enjoyed a magical morning walk there by the river at sunrise. Everything was perfect, with fresh air and a decent room in a superb location. We'd definitely come back if given the chance.
All the surrounding restaurants required advance reservation, leaving us unable to secure a proper dinner; thus, we resorted to a last-minute visit to a nearby convenience store for snacks. More late-night dining options would be appreciated.

A nice hotel in a relatively secluded location near Arashiyama. Everything was above standard. Though the facilities may be a bit dated, the atmosphere and service were good. The room as well as the neighborhood were pretty quiet at night. The breakfast was also quite good.
There were only two things to note: the duvet was too thick for summer so I was awake a few times because I got so sweaty; and the door does not lock itself, so bear that in mind when you are out.

Cosy feel, small apartment-like hotel. Great view of Togetsukyo Bridge from my room window. If you have a bino, you can see Arabica %. Breakfast is local rice set. Loved it. Oishi! The front desk was amn older distinguished gentlemen, very polite and helpful. The staff at breakfast was also very polite and helpful. Thank you for making my stay a very memorable one.
Nothing much, except the stay was too short. Well that's my problem.

Great view (you can see Togetsu-kyo Bridge just outside the window), clean and big room, quite place, young staff can speak english, amenities provided, great for short stay if you didn't bring any stuffs. Walk round 20mins if you take JR, but worth. In the area of Togetsu-kyo Bridge, many souvenir shops around. Can have a nice walk in early morning to avoid the crowd. Note: 1. Restaurants around that area will close early (most of them around 6:00pm). If you want to have traditional kyoto dinner nearby, you can go櫻宿膳 錦. 2. No lift, need to take staris. Staff will help for carring luaggages. Hotel will provide breakfast in japanese style, aslo have coupon for hot spring next to hotel (but I haven't got time to expreience it). It's a good choice if you want to get away the crowd or noise or expreience the beauty of the culture and nature.
Not a dislike, but need to remind that there were no convience stores nearby (espically after 7pm). If you want to get some drinks, you need to go lobby/ street for vending machine.

The location is perfect and the view from the windows on the 2nd floor was amazing. We got complimentary Christmas card and cookies, which was a pleasant surprise.
It is not a grand expensive hotel, only 3 floors with 3-4 rooms on each floor. Room was very cosy, but corridors and stairs more like japanese house than a hotel. Still good for the price tho!!! Elevator was under construction at the time, but they help carrying luggage. Note said that elevator should be ok to use in a couple of weeks.

Good location close to station, monkey park and bamboo forest. Staff great, rooms clean and comfortable. Microwave available on every floor. Note it doesn't have a lift, but they are closing over Xmas 2023 to put one in so should have it by Feb 24. If staying before then, it has 4 floors but it does say the staff are happy to help carry luggage if it's an issue for you. Toiletries and phone chargers provided.in the room as well as a mini fridge. Would certainly stay again.

The breakfast come in a set not the buffet style like the business hotel. The meal is excellent. The bedroom is huge and bed is comfy... wish I had stayed there an extra day. There is no onsen... but could walk to the public onsen 3 mins away.
People on wheelchair might want to rethink booking here as there are 3 steps before the lift which is not a problem for me. Other than this... I feel this place is excellent.

it was very close to all the travel spots in Arashiyama and you can see the bridge and river from hotel. Breakfast was an optional and we ordered just one day but it was an excellent value. Staffs were very friendly and helpful, clean rooms and they give you all necessary amenities.
beds were small but I think it same for other hotels as I noticed that Japanese beds are not large in general
