A wonderful location, about 5-7 minute walk from the Kyoto station and it was easy to find. The hostess was very kind and accommodating. The Ryokan was beautiful, clean and homey. We were very fortunate to stay at a Ryokan while we were visiting Japan and I would highly recommend to anyone to stay here. The bath was so relaxing and much needed after the amount of walking we did around the city. We were lucky enough to see Lilly the morning we were leaving, she's so cute!
The only thing I didn't like is the road that our room faced was very noisy. My husband didn't notice at all and slept very soundly whereas I kept waking up due to the noise. That all to be said, I would still highly recommend staying here.

The host was very friendly and accommodating, she made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed the experience of the traditional ryokan. Everything was spotless. The bath was excellent, too. The assistant cat, Lily is very friendly and always greeting guests at the door. The room was a very good size for two people, and the futons were very comfortable. We enjoyed our daily traditional Japanese snacks, which we found on our tea table upon our return in the evening. The location is also very convenient, 5 minutes walk from Kyoto station. Looking forward to coming back soon!

You get to experience old Kyoto style family house. If you want to sleep on tatami mattress with futon, then this is the right place. The house is old, so the walls got almost no sound proofing, but they keep a small room between neighbours, so we didn't have any problem. They got a new bath made with wood. It's a modernised version, but authentic and the smell of the wood is great for relaxing. The high light was the cat Lily. She's so beautiful and friendly. If you are a cat person, it's definitely recommended.
We didn't have much to complain, but the futon mattress is on a harder side. Everything is old, so it's not like a 5 star hotel. I can recommend only to people who want to experience old Japan.

A beautiful Ryokan! We really enjoyed sleeping in rooms with tatami floors and wearing our yukata. Kitty Lilly was also a perk. Our hostess was incredibly accommodating and kind. We also had the best Japanese breakfast we had all trip.
This is not a negative for the ryokan - only a different expectation that I was not aware of when booking which might be good for others to know, which is that there is an 11pm curfew. This is for safety since someone from the ryokan has to lock up after all guests have returned, and as a quiet curtesy. We got home from our day trip to Osaka later than expected and experienced some stress because of the curfew.

Very attentive and personal service from a very gracious and generous host. On the final night we were the only group in the Ryokan and Su took us shopping and cooked us dinner! Very central location downtown near JR station, quiet, tastefully decorated and a lovely cat.
Very little not to like. We were a couple with two kids ages 11 and 14 and had the large double family room upstairs with an outlook over the lane which was lovely, however, the room was not very dark at night which didn't bother me but did bother my partner. The bath and shower were downstairs. But that was fun going down with the supplied traditional bathrobes and bathing in the cedar bath.

Had an amazing stay! The rooms and shared facilities were very clean. The owner came to greet us at the front door and walked us into our room. She took the time to explain some of their policies and gave us some insight into the local area which was very nice and helpful. AC and heating were available in the room with plenty of power outlets available in the room. You had to share private bathrooms and private showers with other guests but that wasn’t a hinderance at all since it was expected going in. They did have a very friendly cat that mostly stood with the owner but she was nice enough to let us pet her cat and even let us feed her some treats. The futons were very comfortable especially with my back hurting from hiking the red gate shrines earlier in the day. Great location in that it was only about 2-3 blocks from the major train station, restaurants, and a mall. If I stay in Kyoto again I will very likely stay in this hotel again! Very much felt like staying at a family member’s house just with some hotel aspects included. Highly recommended!
No issues to dislike with my stay.

The entire aesthetics and traditional ryokan experience - wonderful. We opted for the breakfast - it was lovingly made and so beautifully presented. We personally really liked how the owners' have a very gentle cat - she was friendly and very sweet!
We didn't realise there was a set time in the morning and evenings to use the bathroom/shower facilities - slightly trickier to plan our days, but not a significant issue.

We loved staying here! The ryokan is a beautiful, older building in the heart of Kyoto. We received a warm welcome from the landlady who also made a point of seeing us in and out each time we left or arrived. She had a lot of great information and was happy to answer any questions we had! Communication with her was easy and very responsive. Lily the Landlady is also ADORABLE! The futon beds are incredibly comfortable and we really appreciated them being put up for us every morning. We also loved the daily tea service with different sweet treats to try. It was a wonderfully homey stay and worked well for us.
We knew it would be shared bathroom facilities, but we didn't realize that there would be times where the showers couldn't be used. Not a huge deal at all, perhaps this is the norm with ryokans that have shared facilities! However, it would've been nice to know about it before check-in just so we could plan around it a little better. Not a deal-breaker for us, as we would certainly choose it again.

I loved that the cutest little kitty greeted us at the door when we arrived and she even helped us settle into our room! The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. Room was spacious enough for us too.
It was very loud when other guests walk, talk or move about. Can also hear the street. I expected as much from a shared Ryokan though, so not a big deal. Would stay here again regardless.
