I selected the hotel primarily because of its proximity to Kyoto Station, just a one-minute walk from the North Gate. My decision was based on a brief look at its appearance on Google Maps, as I didn't have much information about it beforehand. Upon arrival, I discovered that the hotel is relatively new, having been built in 2019. Although the room is compact, its modern and clean design appealed to me. One notable feature is the ability to store our two very large suitcases under the bed, a convenience not always available in older hotels.

There is an unusual high riser/step to get into the bathroom (higher than an average staircase riser), and we nearly tripped over a few times. So you need to be careful.

APA hotels are great. None of them have failed me in what they offer.

I left my smartphone (the only one able to make in-country calls) in a taxi. I asked the staff for help and they refused to even call the taxi company for me. They also did not advice me on what I could do. The people in Kyonavi helped me beautifully, unlike the guy at the counter that day. He did not even apologize, he just flat out said "no, I will not do that." Worst customer service I've ever seen in Japan.

We stayed six nights. We were looking for something close to Kyoto station and a good price. The hotel was solid for our needs. You can see the station from the entrance of the hotel. We were in Kyoto to sightsee, and we simply used the hotels for sleeping. It did the job. The hotel had comfy beds, solid air conditioning and good amenities. The water pressure and the toilet were great.

The room is small…so if you are looking to spread out and fit space you won’t like it. But there were two of us in this room and we both had a large suitcase and a backpack, and we made it work easily. The washroom was also a bit small, but has everything you require.

Perfect location near the main JR Station and shopping center. There are plenty of dining choices nearby. The restaurant has a nice breakfast buffet with lots of options. The room was clean and modern, but the layout was a little tight, so you had to climb over the king bed to get to the far side.

This APA hotel is one where the management overrides the climate settings for all the rooms, and if you prefer a different temperature than what they limit you to, well, you are out of luck. We could not get the room cool enough to where the humidity didn't bother us, and as a result, we didn't get a good night's sleep. I will not be booking another stay at any APA hotel for this reason.

The hotel looks very new, and amenities were good. King-sized bed in a 14m2 room meant that it left very little space for suitcases. However it managed to have a dressing desk, a fridge, kettle and coat hangers. Wifi worked fine, everything was clean and no noise issues (only heard the corridor conversations). 3 min from JR Kyoto station - Its true if you are on the right side and floor of the station (!) Arguably JR Kyoto station is large so it could be 10+ minutes otherwise - however overall the convenience was realised everytime we went out. The entry to the underground paths to the station is barely a minute walk.

It would be nice to have the option of "queen" size bed, not king, and a bit more space in the room instead.

The location for this hotel is amazing. So close to local trains and buses. Also very close to some local shopping. We loved the Kyoto Tower Sando Food Hall Just down the road and the amazing food options as well at the Porta underground. Inari Shrine and Nishiki Market were only a few stops away. It was also super easy to get to Kinkaru-Ji and other sites in Kyoto including the Gion district. Beds were not amazing but were the comfiest on our 5 week Japan holiday.

Only thing was how difficult it was to get out of your room each day due to the cleaning mess. I tripped over a pile of bags that were in the middle of the corridor near the elevators. This didn’t ruin my stay, just be aware you have to be very careful where you are walking if you leave after 7am!

A couple of minutes walking from Kyoto station. There's a 7-eleven pretty close. Free toiletries and clean towels every day. I had breakfast one day during my stay and it was a buffet with good variety of food and the food was good. Staff was very nice and helpful all the time. I could use the public bath asking for tattoo covers at reception and were given for free (2 max). The bath area was pretty clean. The laundry room was always taken and some people left their laundry inside the machines but there's one extra washing machine and a tumble dryer inside the men public bath area. If you need coins for the machines, you can ask in reception and they will change your money. There's some soft drinks vending machines if you don't want to go out to the convenience store. They can store your luggage during the day, before check-in and after check-out. They schedule the cleaning of your room (every 3rd day) if you're having a long stay. The information screen on the TV is very helpful.

People say the room is small, but in Japan is average size. Unless you have more than one big luggage, you can organize the (little) free space you have to open your luggage and organize it. One thing I noticed, there wasn't cold water on the tap, in case you want to fill your water bottle when going out. It's not a big deal, though.

This place was way better than what I was expecting! Sweet surprise. * Location is GREAT! 3 min walk from the station. * As a solo traveler I had the king room for myself, so it was just the right amount of space for me and my luggage. * Comfortable bed.

* The food at the restaurant in this property isn’t good. * Long lines at check in. They won’t start checking people in before 3pm. If the rooms are ready why don’t start the process earlier as the rooms become available? They wait until exactly 3pm. * I am tiny so the bathroom and shower area worked for me, but specially the shower area is very tiny. A bigger person might don’t fit.

Super nice hotel and very good location! We also liked the fact that in the price we had included free use of the public baths, which really gave you the Japanese experience! We forgot our Smart Band at the hotel and stuff informed us right away. Unfortunately they couldn't ship it to another hotel where we were staying at and they couldn't ship it to EU, so we never got it back, but this is our fault for forgetting it there so just keep in mind to check again all the corners hehehe. As a foreigner the only option is to travel back to Kyoto and retrieve your items

Location was excellent. Nice big king size bed. Pillows were alright. Shower was great. Nice to have a laundromat inside the hotel. Loved that the chairs had wheels under them, easy to move around. You can store your suitcases under the bed.

You can't regulate the A/C temperature. It says that it was regulated by the hotel. The breakfast buffet didn't have any whole fruits, only mixed fruits from can. You have to select at least 1 hour for the clothes dryer to dry the clothes. Only 3 washing machines and 3 dryers aren't enough for the hotel. Please consider installing more washing machines and stronger dryers at higher floors. Would have been nice if you had connecting rooms to accommodate a family of 4.
