Reasonably good location about 10 minutes walk from station. Great variety of food for breakfast but mostly Japanese. There was limited fruit, very sweet granola, very small pieces of bread to toast as well as pastries. Coffee was out of a machine but ground its own beans so it was reasonably decent. Bed was fairly comfortable with a topper but mattress underneath was very firm. When we got there at 1.30 pm they said our room was ready so we could get our room key and we had a much needed afternoon rest. We had lunch one day at their Italian themed restaurant which was good. Room was cleaned every day.
Bed a little firm. More variety for western breakfast would have been appreciated. Some poached eggs and/or omelette that is not sweetened.

The hotel is insanely beautiful- I’m going to mirror what a lot of other reviews said and say it was such a lovely hotel, so beautifully decorated and just felt so calm and comfortable. Our room was so big compared to the typical Japanese hotel room and it felt and looked incredibly clean. The bed was also incredibly comfortable- we’d been sleeping on a rock in Tokyo so we slept amazingly for five nights with the Mercure! The restaurant was great with good food and breakfast and the staff were all lovely.
We liked everything but again, would echo other reviews and say it’s not exactly Kyoto Station- it’s pretty close, a super easy ten minute stroll, but it’s in the back streets, however that does make it so nice and quiet and easy to sleep in. We only had communication issues once, the staff were all brilliant, and to anyone complaining about English levels I’d suggest that yelling at staff in long sentences won’t help…given we witnessed this multiple times during our stay. Volume doesn’t improve comprehension.

The room was very roomy & comfortable. Great hotel location very easy to get around Kyoto with brilliant hairdressers Heavenly very near by. Easy walk from Kyoto Station & loads of buses & restaurants really close by too.
Breakfast was very blah coffee was bad. It’s called a breakfast buffet but essentially was a Japanese option which admittedly had great Miso soup & rice however the fish was cold. (No idea if it was meant to be). Continental breakfast only the scrambled eggs & bread was good. The bacon was rubbery & the y had chicken nuggets at the breakfast buffet but no sausages or any veg like mushrooms, spinach or similar. (Why have chicken nuggets instead of another hot breakfast vegetable option?) very odd & very much a let down on breakfast.

It is a lovely hotel, we liked the clean and spacious room, nicely designed. The hotel staff were nice, slight barrier with an English accent, sometimes hard to understand. 10 min walk from the train station, with luggage longer, so a taxi might be a good option.
We were a bit disappointed with the breakfast, also too strict with the timetable for breakfast. Be aware that some of the rooms have frosted glass! When we booked our room photos suggested it was normal glass, anyway upon arrival, it was frosted which we were able to change with a surcharge, the reason is as you go higher the floor price goes higher as well.

We loved our 3 nights here! The hotel itself is stunning, loved the decor. Room was very spacious and elegant with a huge comfortable bed. Tv was in prime position and we could use Netflix. Bathroom was small but very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was great, lots of options for me as a vegan which I appreciate. About a 10ish minute walk to Kyoto Station so not too bad.
We paid for a room with a view but it definitely wasn’t the best view of the building next door, we had to turn out heads to the far right to be able to see the ‘view’. About a 30 minute walk to the shopping part of Kyoto so not ideal but we got our steps in for sure. My bedside table had coffee drips on it and had to clean it myself.

The room was recently renovated to a high standard, very clean and had everything we needed. The staff spoke excellent English and it was very good value for money.
We didn’t realise that you had to pay Kyoto city tax (200yen/night per person) before the stay, which could be why we had to pay at the property rather than online. Perhaps this could be added more clearly when booking via booking.com.

Within a short walk from the train station - tourist information and shopping, inclusive of department stores, available. Hop on, hop off buses leave from train station, so you are not far from getting easily around the city and tourist destinations. Everything was wonderful about this property in relation to comfort and facilities. We had beverages and a meal in the restaurant on multiple occasions which presented good value for money in a nice inviting atmosphere with great attentive wait staff. Room was a good size and the bed extremely comfortable. Would pay the price and stay at this property again without hesitation.
Finding the hotel in the first instance was a bit challenging, so some extra signage on the building would help. No laundry facilities - had to use local laundromat to do some clothe washing - only a short walk, but a little inconvenient. I was a little surprised at this when paying such a price for this hotel - small whine !

The Mercure Kyoto Station is a well appointed, well maintained, good quality international hotel. The reception staff are very professional and welcoming and have excellent English language skills. The room was well appointed nicely decorated and comfortable. The public areas including the restaurant, airy and pleasant. Although the breakfast was the same everyday, there was a good and varied selection. The location was great, walking distance to most of Kyotos' sights and close to the rail station, subway and main bus station.

The room was large and spacious and so clean, very modern for Japan. Clean towels were provided each day. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. You could have a Buffett breakfast for $25.00AUD per person which was excellent value. We were also able to leave our bags there on arrival before the room was ready and on departure.
The lighting in the room and bathroom were the worst I have ever seen in any Hotel over the past 40 years I have been traveling.. Seriously whoever designed this Hotel people want to be able to do their makeup on, read a book in bed which was impossible as the light caused a shadow over the book… Forget thinking your lights are trendy people just want to be able to see.. I felt like we were in a cave even with the curtains open.

Location was walkable to Kyoto station, also lots of bus nearby to attractions. Convenience stores and great restaurants all within 5 min walk. Clean tidy and spacious. Friendly staff.
Poor sound proofing, very noisy when sleeping as we were facing the main road. For daily room service they replace the bottled water for free but we wanted to skip cleaning and just ask for water at the counter, they charged money for that…. Lighting in the entrance and bathroom area was a bit dim, not so convenient for female makeups.
