June 2024
The room had everything you could want in a little apartment: kitchen, oven, microwave, refrigerator and a nice table to eat. The area between two twin beds and the bunk beds is nicely separated. Same with the toilet and the shower! They offer a nice bus ride to the golden temple which saves you time and money! You leave at 8:10 and arrive 8:50. Then, you can grab the bus back at 10:00 or 11:00 am. It was great!
Location. Although it is near the train station. It is still a good 1.2-1.4 km away depending on which line you arrive at. The Kyoto station is HUGE. Kyoto is pretty big, the metro/subway is not as connected as in Tokyo and although there was a bus stop right outside of our hotel, we read that locals really didn’t like tourists using the bus, so we just used Uber (on average 10usd each way). My advice would be to stay near Gion or Nishiki market if you are spending a limited amount of time in Kyoto, otherwise this is a great place.

This is a lovely hotel, small in comparison to the other MONday hotels, but room was sparkling clean, super white sheets and pillows. Nice and quiet even though close to road. About 20mis walk from station. Some of the sights like the beautiful Kinkaju golden temple/Arashima bamboo forest, are difficult to reach by public transport, but these hotels provide a free drop off/ pickup, which was fabulous and such a bonus. Another absolute plus, is free tea/coffee throughout the day, so for breakfast you only need to buy eats. Family Mart next door so very convenient. Sweet very pleasant staff who were always smiling and couldn't do enough for you.
NOTHING!! This hotel is everything a hotel should be.

The room was surprisingly large and spacious, with a generously sized table, a couch that we could rest and lounge on, as well as a kitchenette area. There was a separated shower and bath and laundry area as well, which is awesome. It was nice to do laundry and not have it in the common room, making noise. Highly recommended!
The toilet/WC was located in the small entrance where you take off your shoes. This was slightly less convenient but not a real issue or a dealbreaker. We just had a lot of shoes that didn't quite fit on the shoe rack, so that meant the entrance became a bit cluttered and harder to walk.

Room was clean. Staff are lovely. Facilities in the room were great. We made our own breakfasts before heading out for the day. About 10 min walk to Kyoto station. The bus system around Kyoto is fantastic and the bus stops around this hotel took us in many different directions to see different areas of Kyoto so was a good base. Lots of restaurants in the area, particularly around Kyoto station.
The futon mattress for the kids. They are quite thin and directly on the floor. My kids are 15 and 12. Had I realised, I probably would not have booked this hotel.

We got the family room which had two twin beds, a bunk bed and a table with chairs. The room was nice sized and the table with chairs was a huge plus. We would walk next door to the family mart (like a 7/11) to get drinks and snacks. There was everything you would need to cook although we only used the refrigerator and some dishes/utensils. Not a ton of things super close but the train station and shops are within a 15 minute walk. If you are not a walker, there are several bus stops within steps of the hotel. We found a few great restaurants nearby (see the Michelin guide). Also, note that many restaurants close 2-5pm and most everything closes at 9pm in Kyoto. The shower/bath area was clean and nice. Bonus washing machine in your room with laundry detergent provided.
Not much to not like. None of the following bothered us but might be good to know for others: They don't provide daily cleaning service but collected garbage and replaced dirty towels if placed in the hallway before noon. We prefer not having people in our room and I think they did provide cleaning after 3 or 4 nights. The room safe was very small so if you are planning to use it for a laptop, etc, it will not fit (an iPad would not fit). Washing machine was a bonus but plan on 3-4 hours to wash and dry. Pillows are horrible but not any different from all the other hotels we stayed at in Japan.

Great size room with dining room table and kitchenette. Good size beds and comfortable. Shower is a good size wet room…it isn’t very high but there is a little stool they provide that is more comfortable to sit on than you might imagine. Washing machine also acts as a dryer. Windows open. Staff were very friendly. Shortish walk to station. Bus stops outside.
We didn’t do our research very well before arriving. The accommodation whilst lovely is not in downtown Kyoto. It’s around 45 minutes walk to the main dining/shopping precinct where the river runs. There aren’t a huge amount of eating/drinking selections around…but that’s not a reflection on the hotel…more the area…but it is close to the station.

Good location 10 min walk from kyoto station. 207 Bus stops right outside the hotel and can go to kinkuji or gion. Although i would say taking the taxi is pretty efficient with the location and you wont be paying more the 1000 yen to go to all the touristy stuff. There is family mart and an Indian restaurant right near the hotel. Must have the bhuna mutton from that place. Queens is what it is called.
The washing instructions could be done better in english. Took a lot of time to figure it out.

Great place for a family of four to stay. Lots of space and actual places to store luggage and clothing.
Can’t see out the windows but I’m assuming no view anyways. Got to property about an hour and a half early. We were told we could store our luggage in the room but we were not allowed to stay in the room until 3pm. I thought that was quite strange that we weren’t allowed to utilize the room even though our bags could be in there. We followed the rules of course, but thought it was strange nonetheless.

Lovely large room with a mix of modern and traditional. Clean and comfortable. Toilet in separate area to bathroom. Great location. 10min. walk to Kyoto station. Helpful, friendly staff. Perfect accommodation.
Was great to have a washer/dryer but even with the QR code to access the manual, it was still difficult to understand. And as we did our laundry the night before departure, as time did not allow to fully dry, we left with slightly damp washing. No one to blame but ourselves.

I had an amazing experience during my stay at the hotel. The staff was friendly, the room was immaculate and the amenities were pretty sufficient. A short walk to the nearest train station, around 10 to 15 minutes. Otherwise, take a bus to Kyoto station from the bus stop nearby, 1 min walk. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Hooks for hanging clothes & towel in the toilet.
