Japanese breakfast was excellent. Room was the best of our six hotel stays in Japan - spotlessly clean, larger than most, very comfortable with a separate seating area and windows that opened. Service was friendly and efficient. Never having visited Japan before, we appreciated that some English was spoken. This is a very small hotel with no bar or dining area and breakfast is served in your room, but it worked well for us, and is near good metro and bus routes, and marvellous small restaurants. Will go again.

The scrambled eggs! The western breakfast option was not so good, not as good as other locations.

The location was excellent: centre of the downtown area, so everything that Kyoto had to offer was easily accessible. The room was large and very comfortable and with its little Zen garden it was a perfect, tranquil haven to return to after a day's sightseeing. We opted for a traditional Japanese breakfast and it was very much the best breakfast we had in Japan, and they were all very good. It being served in our room also felt like a romantic luxury. The staff were truly delightful and always went out of their way to help us with any queries. One of them recommended a fabulous restaurant for dinner one night.

There was nothing to dislike. We couldn't have been happier or more comfortable.

A very beautiful hotel room with an extremely comfortable very large bed. The breakfast included was a Japanese breakfast it was beautiful and delicious.

there seem to be some communication issues. It may have been miscommunication with Booking.com. I selected the room with breakfast included for five people. When we arrived at the staff told me that because there was no kids menu, we would not get breakfast for our children. I asked for an adult breakfast for them to share, and they said that would be OK but we would have to pay extra. Also, we had to ask extra sheets and towels for the kids.

Very Spacious room and the attention to details are extreme.. 2 TVs, hidden cabinet room, warm toilets bidet, shower and sinks is separated, the shower is almost 2m square (steam room style), and not to forget the AC condition was super cool and room gets cold in minutes, it’s great facility bed was so comfy , friendly staff and so helpful to the extreme… I took the origami which they did it for us :)

I've travelled all over the world and stayed in many fine hotels and the Naji Kyoto Shijo is by far the gold standard for elite hotel accommodations. Everything about our stay was first class. The morning breakfast was phenomenal. The room was very spacious, and the cleanliness was outstanding. The hotel staff were very warm and accommodating and went out of their way to make sure our stay was the absolute best in Japan. Truly, the pride in professionalism from the hotel staff was second to none. It was an honor for me to stay at such a wonderful establishment. Thank you so much for making our stay such a wonderful experience.

Nothing. Everything was beyond perfect.

We felt so welcome at this hotel and everyone that works there is beyond kind and helpful. The location was perfect. Amazing restaurants within walking distance and a bus stop to all destinations a short walk away. We took a taxi from the train station to the hotel - price ranged from 1200-1500 yen. The property is charming, has a local feel and was very quiet. The room size was perfect for us.

Very spacious room and nice layout. Probably our favorite of various places we stayed in Japan. The plush comforter and bed were fantastic! Liked the more quite neighborhood, yet still in close proximity to metro and the market/shopping.

This might be a me problem but it felt a little humid in the room which was fixed with the AC. There are a lot of light switches that arent in a central location. It took a while to figure out the lighting.

Great location, incredibly clean, very spacious room. Staff were also very kind and helpful.

We had room 202, which got no natural light as it was low down and the back of the building is surrounded by tall buildings. Also, on our last night, extractor fans (or air conditioning units) from other buildings were so noisy that we were woken several times - it was like a plane taking off outside our window!

Very clean & modern large rooms. Quiet rooms. Wonderful bathroom. The beds were extremely comfortable. The bedding was new. The location was great. The staff spoke excellent English & was very friendly. The location was close to many restaurants. Kyoto is lovely; it is safe & it is full of amazing sights & great places to explore. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful hotel. I wish there were an Onsen.

Location was very convenient - multiple train lines and within walking distance to Nishiki Market and Shijo Dori. The staff at the hotel was very kind during the stay, rooms were tidy and spacious. We opted in for breakfast (at the time it was a traditional Japanese breakfast) and they would deliver it straight to your room at your desired time; the food proportions were very generous and tasted amazing.
