A highlight of our trip. Having traveled to Japan over 50 times, bringing friends this time for their first visit, I wanted them to experience all types of accommodations and this was a perfect ryokan, exceeding all my expectations at a very fair price. We each had a 2 level townhouse with outside bath and shower (and inside shower and 2 toilets). 2 tatami room each floor, with fridge and tea pot. We never even had to fold our futon! While we walked up and down the alley (what a wonderful escape from the busy Kyoto streets) before finding our door, once we did, the excellent hospitality began and didn't end until the proprietor came out in the rain to ensure we got into our taxi to the station. The furnishings and finishes were exquisite but not precious, including the lighting and streams in the "village", roofs over baths (but not adjacent gardens so we could appreciate the rain falling), changing flowers, Yukata robes, and complimentary sweet bean treats. Our host was extremely helpful with dinner research and reservations. The light smell of incense added to the sensory treat. Truly can't believe how fortunate we were to have found this special place and hope to be back!

The hotel was very beautifully decorated. As soon as you enter the hotel from the street, you feel peace and comfort. Very beautiful and big traditional japanese style room, with a wonderful outdoor bath and onsen in a small room garden. Water pressure in the bath was very good. The location was very good as it was close to subway stations and busses, only two stops with the subway from Kyoto Station. It was very easy to go on daytrips to for example Nara. Walking distance to Shijo shopping street, Nishiki Market, shopping arcades, Nijo Castle and the Higashiyama Ward. As the hotel is loacted on a side street it is surprisingly quiet. We could not hear the traffic from the room. The owner was very attentive, nice and helpful. If we come back to Kyoto we will definitely stay here again!

Nothing, everything was very nice :)

We had a fantastic stay here. The manager and staff were very attentive to our needs, always available, and gave us a very warm welcome. They were also happy to receive our suitcases sent from Tokyo, which was a great help and convenience for us. We loved the calm, serene and authentic atmosphere of Kiramachi village. The rooms are decorated tastefully in the Japanese tradition, and we felt like we were in a timeless bubble. The futon beds were also very comfortable. Located in a quiet alleyway in a lively district, Kiramachi Village is well situated, close to the bus and metro network: an ideal base for visiting Kyoto. We would definitely recommend staying at Kiramachi Village.

Our stay at Yado Kiramachi was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We were greeted with warm smile and great hospitality of Ms.Tada who was very kind to make us recommendations on every detail from local eating to travelling around. The check-in process was smooth and efficient while our ryokan was spacious, clean, and elegantly decorated, providing a perfect blend of comfort and style. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. We also appreciated the thoughtful amenities provided, from the high-quality toiletries to the complimentary coffee, tea, snacks and even a delicious Japanese breakfast. The hotel's location is ideal, situated close to major attractions and public transportation, making it easy to explore the city. Despite its central location, the hotel maintained a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, providing a perfect retreat after a day of sightseeing. Overall, Yado Kiramachi exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to our next stay.

everything was perfect.

It was clean and a great size for two people. We had two bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs. The decor and finishes were lovely and traditional. The houses are about 150 years old. To go upstairs, the staircase is narrow, so for anyone who is physically challenged, it may not work. Tada is super lovely and so warm and welcoming. She really took her time to get us oriented with a map and places to do. Thank you Tada.

It was all lovely. The only issue was that 2 of the days there were walls being cleaned with water spray at the next door building. They started at 9am. It was not too bad, but that was the only thing. If you want breakfast, it can be brought to your ryokan and costs 2200 yen.

Oh my goodness, Yadi Kiramachi is truly beautiful, and was a lovely experience for us. I feel privileged to have had this opportunity. In a city that abounds with the breathtaking, this was the perfect complement, with simply the most gracious host one could imagine. It’s quiet, tastefully appointed, and very comfortable. So much space. Immaculate. We stayed here on our last night in Japan as a treat and I’m so glad we did. Memorable in the nicest way. Oh, it’s well located also. Having stayed in the Gion district earlier in the week, this enabled us to see a slightly different area. Lots of dining options within easy walking distance.

Loved everything.

-the personality of the owners, their warm welcome, paying attention to details and making sure that everything is perfect. They are responsive and speak good English which is a plus - look of the entire ryokan and aesthetics. Very beautiful, especially at night - beds were very comfortable and our place was very quiet. We slept extremely well. - the place was clean and smelled good - bathroom on the ground floor had a very nice wooden bathtub, very relaxing after a long day of walk - location could not be better, very central and a few subway stops from Kyoto Station Will definitely recommend. Thank you!

Nothing. Everything was great.

Yado Kiramachi is a wonderfully traditional and tastefully restored property in the heart of Kyoto. Despite being so proximate, the villa is nothing less than a quiet, tranquil escape - especially soaking in the Japanese Cypress private onsen. A bus stop is conveniently located just outside the facility, making travel around Kyoto incredibly easy. The staff are very helpful, friendly and attentive, providing recommendations for places to eat and how to get around. Overall, I could not recommend Yado Kiramachi enough to anybody looking for a true Japanese experience during their stay in Kyoto!

Absolutely nothing, it was perfect!

The staff are incredibly responsive and kind, the space is stunning and peaceful, the rooms are beautiful and spacious. I could go on and on. We only wish we could have stayed longer, but when we booked, we got the only room left for the only two nights it was available during our trip! We loved the soaking tub, the private garden, the comfy futon, and the yukatas that were provided in the room. There are also a few vending machines only steps away, a convenience store across the street, incredible restaurants near by, a bus station close by, and a subway station only an 8-min walk away. Would love to return and stay for longer!

There seemed to be only one small trash can in the upstairs bathroom, so our trash accumulated a bit over our stay. It would have been nice to have another trash can, especially considering there are not many public trash cans in Kyoto!

Our stay at Village Kiramachi was simply incredible. The staff were so generous and welcoming, we felt right at home. The accomodation was peaceful, calm, comfortable and we loved experiencing a traditional stay that still included all of the comforts of a luxury stay. The accomodation was located in a great spot with so many delicious, local restaurants within walking distance. Our hosts had great recommendations for us. The metro was a 10-15 minute walk and was on the main line so it was easy to travel to all the main sites of Kyoto. We would highly recommend this stay and would love to come back again in the future.

We loved everything. We are both a bit taller than average so if you are tall too, just be mindful of the doorways!!!
