Location was nice, but a bit of a walk (10-15 minutes) to sights and shopping/restaurant area. Hotel is very close to busstop to different sights in and surrounding the city. Next to a Family mart. The hotel was well designed (modern Japanese, a lot of wood), and I liked that they offered free drinks (water, tea etc) in the lobby of the hotel. Staff was friendly In the lobby they give other travellers the opportunity to share their Kyoto travel tips on a 'recommendation wall', which is a nice detail. Room has a tiny desk - which is used for some work related meetings.
I didnt necessarily like the flooring in the toilet (sort of textile) and that the bathroom sink was part of the bathroom. The flooring was a bit stained (water, soap, toothpaste) and it made it feel a bit less luxurious.

I had an exceptional stay at this hotel, exceeding the city's usual standards. The room was impressively spacious and well laid out, featuring an inside garden that added a zen touch to the ambiance. The bed was remarkably comfortable, and the little tea corner in the room provided a perfect spot to unwind. The bathroom, equipped with a magnificent bathtub, further enhanced the overall experience. In addition to the exceptional room, the hotel's location is superb, with easy access to numerous bus stops and the metro station, making it convenient to explore the city. Situated at the city center, it offers a perfect blend of luxury and accessibility.
While the hotel offers a fantastic stay with its spacious and well-designed rooms, the only downside is that it hosts numerous travel groups. This can occasionally make the lobby quite busy, but the overall experience and comfort of the room make it a worthwhile choice.

We were at awe once we entered our room. It has the traditional feel with a modern touch. The tatami mats made us feel like we stayed at a ryokan. Very classy room for the price we paid. Although not central Kyoto, there are 2 bus stops within a minute walk and one directly outside the entrance. Makes it easy for us to travel around. Also liked that itâs only a 15 minute bus ride to Gion and Nishiki market also a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station. Will definitely stay again the next time we visit.

The hotel has a spacious room which is quite larger compared to the usual room size in Japan. General ambiance is very nice and fitting to the city. There is a kombini just next to the hotel. Shijo and Karasuma subway stations are within the walking (~5mins) distance.
Almost nothing. The hotel is close to the main attractions. There are several bus stations around. Shijo and Karasuma subway stations are close as well. Only difficulty might be, if you are traveling with large luggage and arriving to the city by shinkansen, then taking subway to Shijo station may not be the best option. You just need to walk a bit in Kyoto station to access to the Karasume line and then also walk to the hotel. I would suggest taking bus instead which is just stopping in front of the hotel.

Great little place just walking distance from shijo market, the hotel is quiet and not too busy which is good. They have a small breads/waffles station for people who didnât order breakfast which is a nice touch, as well as a welcome drink station
i wasnât able to get extra water to my room which i found weird given that its a 4 star hotel, they mentioned they stock the room with 2 small bottle everyday. The AC canât be overridden to keep blasting, it keeps turning off all the time and for me i like to sleep in a cooler environment. I also didnât like the cleaning of my cups. they smelled like coffee, theyâre just lightly washed with water in the room and not fully changed or cleaned with a sponge. Upon arriving the receptionists were pointing at my passport and giggling as well which i found a bit unprofessional

Beautiful hotel overall. Good size rooms for Japan. Very comfortable beds, and easy to request another pillow. Like the separate shower/toilet. Fridge was useful, and tea/coffee facilities in the room were a bonus. Hotel was kept clean throughout our stay. You can request a room clean also when you would like. Location is great, less than 10 minutes walk to the station, and 15 minutes to the main centre markets. Bus routes to the main attractions like Arashima are within 5 minutes walk. Free refreshments in the foyer were a bonus; tea and cold drinks available 24hrs a day, and bread with coffee available in the morning a nice touch.
Perhaps variety day-to-day of the bread & coffee offered, and other refreshments.

The maple trees in the middle of our room were spectacular! The premium room was well worth paying that bit extra for as the trees made it feel like you were sleeping in a Japanese garden. Beds comfy (hard) pillows very hard however still slept fine. The deep black bath was luxurious & the amenities topped up daily, just pop the âclean my roomâ sign on the door. Great selection of drinks for guests available for free in the foyer. Especially loved the broth! Close walking distance 10mins from main shopping district & markets. Would highly recommend đ
Nothing loved everything! - just tourists remembering to take out their laundry on time & not make us wait 35mins while they meander back as though theyâre not affecting others! All good, we grabbed our Sapporos & just drank & waited!!

We loved our suite which was quiet and comfortable. The hotel is in a great area for exploring Kyoto - walking distance to the shops, a lot of places of interest, lots of great restaurants and only a short taxi ride to the railway station.
Unusually for Japan, the hotel wasnât well organised in some respects. There was no system in place at breakfast so we had to find a member of staff to ask for our breakfast. Took us a while to realise this on the first day, but found it odd that we had to do the same every day for our 5 night stay. Also the room was only serviced once in 5 days which we didnât mind except for the fact that it meant we ran out of shower gel, coffee/tea/milk/sugar and were left with dirty cups and saucers which we had to do our best to wash in the bathroom sink.

Very effective hotel with great value for money. Rooms are small, but big comfortable bed. Everything there that you need. Staff is very friendly and helpful, Wifi works very well. Parking right opposite for 1,600 JPY overnight. Location very good with walking distance (ok, maybe 20-30 minutes) to Nikishi market and shopping district. Alternatively you can ride the bus 2-3 stations. Bus stop from Kyoto station directly in front of hotel (number 90 or 95, I forgot).
Not much actually. The two washers in the second floor are always full and not very effective, but there is a washing saloon literally 5 minutes away.

A Gem in Kyoto's Heart â„ïž A Haven of Modern Comfort and Traditional Charm Having spent six weeks traversing Japan and staying in over 20 hotels, I can confidently say Agora Kyoto Kamaruma stands out as a truly exceptional experience. Nestled in the heart of Kyoto, this fairly new four-star property seamlessly blends modern design with calming Japanese influences. đ Modern Meets Tranquility The hotel's interior boasts beautiful colors and stunning Japanese rock art, creating a visually captivating yet serene ambiance. The rooms, while perfectly sized for solo travelers or couples, are a revelation. They're not just spacious; they feature the most comfortable beds I've encountered in all of Japan. đ Exceptional Service Beyond Expectations What truly elevates Agora is the impeccable Kyoto service. The staff embodies the essence of Japanese hospitality, making you feel like royalty even in a four-star setting. Manager June Mantsui deserves special recognition. From the moment I arrived, his genuine warmth and attentiveness ensured a truly comfortable and unforgettable stay. It's no wonder the hotel receives such rave reviews! đ Convenience at Your Doorstep Location is key, and [Hotel Name] doesn't disappoint. Situated in the heart of Kyoto, you'll find two supermarkets, three mini-marts, and bus lines all within easy reach. Whether you're exploring the city or relaxing in your haven, everything you need is at your fingertips. A 9.5 Out of 10 đ If you seek a hotel that excels in cleanliness, cutting-edge design, authentic Japanese elements, undeniable convenience, and unparalleled service, look no further than Agora Kyoto Karasuma It's a 9.5 out of 10 for me, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
The waiting room was a bit large with no place to enjoy food. Seems like a waste of space.
