We liked very much the location, in the middle of Gion which I consider the most beautiful quarter of Kyoto, with lots of facilities around, restaurants, bars, and very nice shops, and of course the atmosphere of ancient (though modern) Kyoto, with its temples and geishas. But the most important were the people who received us, they were sooo nice and friendly and, they went above and beyond to assist us and to make sure everything was taken care of.. Their dedication and willingness exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a great stay in Gion, I can only recommend this place.
My only comment is I would have liked hooks for the towels

loved the rooms, the staff was amazing at front desk, very nice service. tried their best. location is amazing, second to none. everything is accessible i loved that the room had a local covered area traditional japanese style mat etc and was very cozy corner.
only thing i didnt like was that the picture made it seem like a family of 2 with 2 children would be ok to fit, but actually it was small. i had to get another room for my children due to shock of seeing the room the first night. the staff was very nice however and apologetic and accommodating. though they charged me extra for the second room, it was at a discount. we ended up staying in one room the second night as the hotel helped by saving my luggage in their storage. so overall i was very happy with them. they had also put measurement of the room size in the website but i had not taken too much notice of it and relied more on the picture

The hotel was in probably the best possible location in the heart of the Gion district in Kyoto. All the major sights were easily accessible by either walking or transit, and there were plenty of excellent food options within walking distance. The room style was authentic, with a very large bathroom stocked with amenities. The complementary coffee machine was stocked with multiple different coffee types, and was an excellent way to start the day super early without waking up other members of your group. The view was excellent and the balcony was comfortable.
A little expensive based on comparable rooms across Japan.

The location is perfect. Right in Gion, but very quiet. Plenty of options to eat around. Many temples within walking distance. Two train lines stop nearby - although with Kyoto’s underdeveloped public transport you will still have to take a bus to reach many central locations. Buses in Kyoto are slow and never on time, be prepared to use taxis. The staff were exceptionally helpful, giving good local recommendations and helping in any way they could. There was a wooden bath in my room (in addition to a shower).
The air conditioning was loud. There is no breakfast, but many options nearby, and the hotel staff will give you good recommendations.

Great to be in the Gion district instead of a hotel by the station. Tons of places to eat & explore on foot. Close to Keihan train station. Nice property though very compact. Cedar bathtub was unique. Easy to get a taxi by just walking to the Main Street.
If you have a large suitcase, hard to open & place anywhere as the room is rather compact. But our 2 bed room had a sitting area & balcony. Bring mosquito repellent for the outdoors. Rather vicious mosquitoes lurk outdoors at dusk even in late September.

The hotel is situated in a fantastic location for exploring Gion, with its parks and temples. The hotel is run by very friendly staff who offer great recommendations of the local area. The rooms are very comfortable with lots of space (for Japan) and well-featured bathrooms.
The balcony situation was a little odd. It faced a stairwell and another person's balcony (very closely). Maybe think about putting up a light divider if fire safety laws allow it. Nothing terrible though!

the location was excellent and next to the historic geisha district and incredible temples. the staff was beyond exceptional with such amazing energy and care for us during our stay. everything about the room was lovely, atmospheric, and gave us a feel of really being in japan not just being in a hotel. so we enjoyed the moments between walking around Kyoto because we still felt we were culturally entwined in our own room. the coffee and tea and thoughtful touches they added as we were on our honeymoon just made it a stand out memory and the front desk personnel will be in my heart forever the way they treated us was more than we could ask for. such kindness. when we come back to kyoto this is the only hotel we will be staying at.
no complaints.

The premium quadruple room is suitable for family of 4 (2 bed + 2 futons). Though the room is not as spacious, the balcony is good to have. There's a bathtub in room. Good bathroom amenities. Location is splendid, away from the city, alongside traditional houses, with many restaurants. It is so peaceful in the night. Across the shijo-ohashi bridge, there's the bustling area with lots of food and shopping. The hotel is only a 5-min walk from Gion-shijo station. <Dec 2023>
No housekeeping.

Very nice new small hotel in the heart of Gion, staff was so very nice and would go out of their way to help you. Most staff members spoke very good English. Bathroom was very nice with deep tub and wonderful shower head. Traditional Japanese bathroom with toilet in a separate room and sink in yet another.
Location was a bit of a walk to train station but bus stops were close by although kind of hard to figure out which bus to get on!!! Must have IC card or exact change, very cheap to ride bus, only 220 yen a person. Taxi to Kyoto Station was kind of expensive, about 1900 yen one way, but so worth it when you are exhausted!!! Also only one BBC news channel on TV in English although pretty entertaining to watch the Japanese shows!!!

Absolutely fantastic location. It was one block away from the main shopping street in Gion and tucked into a cluster of historic streets. You don't have to walk far to be immersed in historic kyoto. There are three subway lines within a five minute walk, so getting to the other sights in Kyoto is easy. The rooms were very spacious for a family of four, and the additional amenities with a mini bar and balcony made the space very livable. The was also a coin-op washing machined on the ground floor. The staff was very nice.
Nothing. Great Stay!
