The staff are extremely friendly, even hanging and talking with you when they are free and if you are up for a chat! Despite being a hostel, being inside each capsule is surprisingly quiet and there is a ventilation setting that you can turn on if you want. Toilets and showers were never a problem as there multiple on each floor. The luggage and locker area is on the outside and so no noise wakes up any sleeping guests. I think there appears to be sound dampeners set up because it really was surprisingly quiet to sleep. Location is also great.

Nothing. Maybe suggestion to differentiate the toilet slippers from room slippers as it can be a bit confusing.

Fantastic stay - located in the heart of Gion near the Yasaka Pagoda, perfect if you want to see the city early morning without crowds. There is many convenient stores and restaurants close by, as well as buses and trains to travel throughout Kyoto and beyond. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with activities available and food reccomendations. Beautiful rooftop terrace and common areas, full kitchen and clean rooms/bathrooms. Because of the common areas it was easier than other hostels in Japan to meet people which is great for me as a solo traveller. Beds are comfortable and you receive free toiletries and clean towels every single day. Very good value for money and pleasant stay, would recommend.

I’m travelling in the summer so the rooms were a little hot to sleep for me personally but I’ve found this is the case in most of the hostels in Japan.

I loved this place! The staff are wonderful people - friendly and helpful. They genuinely enjoy working there and they like each other. And this attitude has a huge impact on staying there. They have created a great community where it is comfortable to hang out. I became injured while there and they were super supportive; they found me a clinic to go to, offered me ice for the injury and inquired each day about how I was doing. Great location - many places a short walk away and tons of buses nearby.

Not a lot of space for luggage.

First, the extra point not a must but a greeting( a welcome , goodbye, welcome back) make the traveler feel warm.q Nice environment, very convenient , they have towel, toothbrush,shampoo..fridge,oven, cup, cofee and etc. Privacy toilet, bath room.Place to chit chat, pretty nice roof top,(the table need to repair abit) Walking distance to the temple ,actually there is one behind it quite small but so nice and zen call圆通寺. The only problem happen was one of the ppl open video loud on 4am.but anyway, we cant control this right. Beside this, what they provide i give more than 5 star.

This was my second time staying at Tsukimi and it’s such a nice and clean place. The location is great, close to a bus stop and the beautiful Gion area. The staff are super friendly and comfortable to be around! I love that you have a locker for some of your things and that the bathrooms and showers are connected (but you can’t hear any noise) to the room and private to that floor only. The capsules have both a dimmer and full light, plus an inbuilt small fan for air and are not a bad size (but not huge either).

Personally I wish the lounge was a bit cozier to hang out in

I HAVE TO SAY MY STAY IN TSUKIMI HOTEL WAS FANTASTIC.  The beds are comfortable and a good size and rooms and place are very clean.  very accessible by bus or train to the rest of Kyoto within a few minutes of walking.  Everyone who works here is very kind and helpful especially Mr. Kenji. He's very nice and welcoming. I love how they take the time to have a conversation with you. It was my first time to book a capsule hotel and I was not disaappointed. I made the right decision to stay in this hotel. If I will come back to Kyoto definitely I will stay at Tsukimi hotel and I will advise all my friends to stay in this hotel.

Everything is perfect

As a solo traveller, it can often at times feel lonely. However in this hostel, not only did I make friends with other guests staying there but I also made friends with the staff! I had many conversations with the staff about various things. Feeling welcomed is such a thing to be grateful for, and I really appreciate that the staff are helpful, friendly and feel like they actually want you there. Human connection is really important. I think because the staff are young, they want to engage in conversations and overall just have a positive environment. This has been my favourite place to stay in the whole of Japan so far. The place is fresh, clean and welcoming what more could you want.

Absolutely nothing! It's a great place to stay 😊

All of the staff speak great English, are very friendly and very helpful. Especially the Bali guy (sorry I don't remember his name). They have big combination lockers as well as a small safe in the pod. The beds are comfortable and a good size. They give you a new towel every day. The location is unbelievable, right in the center of the tourist hotspot Gion.

My only complaints are the hangout spot downstairs isn't a very comfortable place to chill, and the dryer took forever to dry my clothes. But other than that this was a fantastic place to stay.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Facility was clean and kitchen was well equipped. Including coffee machine, fridge and cooking supplies. Very well laid out and entry lounge very nice to hang. Bunks were perfectly fine and a good sleep can be had should the roommates allow. The staff was quick to help or answer any questions. Great area and a short walk to a couple of the better known temples.

Room cannot accommodate bags so the entry hallway is quite crowded. Not impossible at all to navigate but just a note. Bags allowed behind bunks was a bit problematic with noise. But cant control all peoples movements in a hostel.

The staff were all very friendly, the hostel has a communal feel to it. The capsule felt much more soundproof/solid than other capsule hostels I have stayed in. You get a locker for your shoes, a locker just outside the capsule room and a safe inside the capsule. All guests during my stay seemed respectful of noise and cleanliness, probably one of my favourite hostels I’ve stayed at.

The capsule got quite warm even with the extractor fan on. Whilst you could fit clothes and small backpacks inside the locker, there’s no chance you’d fit a suitcase or large backpack. Not a huge problem but did make it a bit pointless for me.
