Literally in the middle of Gion. Can’t get any more central location than this. Few steps away from Kodaiji and a little more to Yasaka Shrine. Even though it is in the middle of Gion, it is in a more quiet part of Gion thus it is very peaceful and gets very quiet at night. The location features 2 common spaces: one for eating with a shared kitchen and the other is a tatami room on the 3rd floor overlooking the garden and the hillside. There a couple of washing machines and dryers outside. The room was medium sized but the beds were huge, one of the biggest out of all the hostels I’ve stayed at in Japan. There is no lockers but your bed comes with a small table with a lockable compartment. The mattress was not too thick but comfortable enough. There are plenty of showers and toilets around the hostel so there is enough for everyone.

Distance from nearest train station, Gion-Shijo is quite far. About 15-20 min walk and is uphill. Konbinis are also quite far away about 10 mins walk downhill. There is a beautiful garden but as of now it is not open to guests. The bed curtain however have huge gaps so there people can see inside quite easily.

I love that you're in the heart of Gion and there are so many shrines, popular streets and areas to explore. I also really enjoy staying in a single room with a tatami floor and a very comfortable futon and pillow. Facilities are very clean and instructions for everything are very clear. The staff are also great and very helpful if you need anything! Nice to have a communal kitchen as well.

I don’t have much to say about what I don’t like as the property itself was pretty amazing; we only found that others staying at Q-beh were less respectful of quiet hours/being loud earlier morning and into the evening.

We absolutely loved staying at Q-beh Ryokan. It was clean, cosy and well equipped. If you want to live the full experience of sleeping in a ryokan in gorgeous Gion geisha and shrine neighbourhood, definitely choose to stay here. Just 2 blocks from Yasaka shrine and just around the corner of most outstanding lovely streets of Gion. Also 2 blocks from city bus stop to roam around the city easily. I was a bit sceptical about sleeping in a ryokan but honestly my back felt quite relieved after resting there, specially after walking around 10 km per day. The price is also very convenient for a weekend and you can have access to a very nicely equipped kitchen to even cook your own meals- lovely Gion restaurants are also just 10 min walk.

The showers were powered by a button you need to press after some seconds which made washing my hair a bit uncomfortable but it’s literally the only con I could find about the place.

Great ryokan style with the ease of a friendly hostel. Very clean all over. Spacious dorm alcoves. Staff friendly and professional. Great process, i.e. whatever came to my mind had already been solved by a tag placed right where my eyes would be looking for an answer. Located right in between Kiyomizu-dera and Gion's Yasaka shrine.

Dorm rooms' ventilation is just so so, hence they feel rather hot and stuffy. I asked for a bed far from the dorm entrance, and that turned out to be the right move, as the door (right on the main corridor) is the traditional wood-and-paper type that provides very little insulation from sound and light.

The front desk staff speaks fluent English, making communication smooth. The dormitory rooms are very comfortable and offer good privacy. The location is near Yasaka Shrine, and it's close to Kiyomizu Temple and Chion-in Temple. It's also conveniently near a bus stop for traveling to other places.

The shower room is a bit small. The room lock is not very easy to use; you need to press the door inward slightly to lock and unlock it easily.

Beautiful house from the outside as well as the inside. Staff was very friendly and helpful, spoke English well. The location is amazing as it is surrounded by the beautiful houses and streets of Gion. Many famous sightseeing spots are close by. Shared bathrooms were not difficult at all, as there are many separate toilets and showers in good condition. Kitchen area well equipped to prepare food.

Be aware that the nearest train station is about 15-20 minutes away by foot. Not a big deal but should be considered with heavy luggage. Not the fault of the property! Since it is an traditional ryokan (house), keep in mind that it gets cold at night if the temperatures drop. We visited beginning of May and it was a bit chilly to sleep. Blankets were not that thick.

Everything. Ten minutes walk to best temple in Kyoto, kiyomizu- dear which is important to note that it opens very early at 6 am( an unusually early hour) which is great to know mainly because if you want to avoid heavy crowds of tourists then it’s best to go between 6 am and 9 am . This way you can experience this sacred place in a deeper way and at a more peaceful time one of my favorite non party hostels. Guests are friendly and considerate of each other. Dorm room is quiet and private with curtains. Bed is very comfortable with comforter for colder months. Front desk staff is professional and helpful. Cleaning staff excellent as well. Kitchen is great.

No longer offer a private bath experience. Please bring it back after Covid years.

Very cute guesthouse, and good location. It was quiet despite sleeping in a dorm, and the beddings were very clean and comfortable. The capsule size was much bigger than average, which is very convenient. The staff was friendly and accommodating too. I ll come again!

No elevator so it can be hard if you have some health issues but the stairs weren't too steep. One problem for me in the girl dormitory was the locking system: to go in and out of the dormitory, you have to use a key every time as there's no automatic locker: it can be a bit noisy so it disturbs people's sleep.

This has got to be one of the best locations in town, if not in all of Japan, minutes away from some of the key sites in Gion, but on a quiet and charming side street, so you don't feel like you're in Disneyland. Clean, a decent shared kitchen with coffee and tea, and decenly priced. Biggest challenge is probably availability, as it's clearly very popular.

All good. The biggest challenge, apart from actually getting a room, is transport from the train station: it's too far to walk, and while there's a bus, I never did figure out how to use that.

The dormitorum was really clean unfortunately was hard to say about kitchen. But I understand that was guests fault than personel. Personel very friendly and helpful. It was pleasure to discuss with them. Accommodation was beautiful (real ryokan) and the garden something amazing. 😍

It will be great if for the futon will be double mattress. I had one and was really thin so I did not slept properly. Also I got only one towel as starter. More comfortable will be recive also for face or hair small towel. I wasn't prepare for that.
