The place is beautiful and is traditional. The room was big and the futon comfortable. The place is also really clean. The owner is nice and try to help in anything he can even if his English is very ver limited

We went with a baby and our room was in the upper level and we had to do che stairs, wearing the slippers you have to wear inside the ryokan. The last day, after our staying of 5 days, the owner told us that someone complained about the baby (the night before he was been sick and cried a bit more than usual, but before 11pm he was already asleep) and that we should handle it. A baby of 10 months. For the next time, he probably should tell to this kind of people (that even went to our room to complain before going to him the next day) that there is plenty of child-free hotel. Also, the face that the bathroom is basically outside is not really comfortable, mostly in winter.

We slept so well in this family-owned ryokan. The owner explained everything in detail when we checked in and was very attentive throughout our 3 night stay, despite seemingly running the ryokan singlehandedly. He even washed our teapot and cups, and switched on the heating in our room one cold night before our return. He also let us park the ebikes we rented near the reception for a night (Kyoto has strict rules on bicycle parking) 10/10 for service! Arigato gozaimashta! The ryokan was located just 15 minute's walk from Kyoto Station, and there were lots of food options in the hood. Despite the location our room, which was on the second floor and overlooked a neat courtyard garden, was really calm and quiet at night, even when the inn was full. It was a really cool experience staying at this 100-year-old house.

There seemed to be only one bathroom in the entire house, so that meant having to wait for our turn almost every night since there were at least 5 other guests staying at the ryokan. It didn't bother us too much but thought we should mention it. There were 2 toilets though and those we never had to wait.

Traditional Japanese 100 years old house, nice life experience. The Ryokan is very well equipped and maintained, super clean! The owner is very hospitable and supportive. He kindly advised and explained the main house rules. The location is perfect, 10 min walk to the main railway station and 30min walk to Gion district - one of the main historical areas and attraction in Kyoto. There is a temple on the opposite side of the road which is definitely worth visiting it. Nice experience. Just keep in mind that entrance is allowed before 11pm, strictly, as the house is family run business. We enjoyed our stay.

This is our first traditional Japanese inn so the experience was completely new to us. We were a bit worried before coming as we did not know what rules/how strict it would be as this is a traditional ryokan, but the host made us feel welcome and explained everything which we really appreciate! There were yukatas to wear and a tea making set/table. We did not have time to try it but I bet it is an amazing experience to foreigners like us!

Tatami beds although traditional are quite hard, so people who love soft bed mattress should be aware! But this is ryokan so this is a part of experience. Ryokan as everything else in Kyoto looks quite old but again… this is a part of an experience!

Charming, traditional ryokan, run by an obsessively neat concierge who put every slipper in place. Spacious and well equipped room, complete with night wear for guests, and tea set. Common bathrooms were clean. Conveniently located from Kyoto station, and walking distance to Nishiki market. Bonus was a view of a temple from our window.

11pm curfew was a bit limiting, we found ourselves having to rush back. A bigger common sitting area would have been nice, especially around the garden.

The host for the ryokan is very very polite and helpful, and he was very understanding when we arrived much later than expected due to train misunderstandings (side note: if you're coming from Osaka, make sure you're taking the express train, not local!). We wanted a traditional stay, and the space felt authentic, even down to having different shoes for outside, inside, and the restrooms. It was very very clean and cozy. Even with Kyoto's nighttime temperatures being super cold, it was warm and cozy inside the ryokan and it felt so nice to come back to the space. The location is also a short walk to Kyoto and Shichijo stations, which meant a pretty short ride to see Fushimi Inari Taisha. We loved our stay and would absolutely come back here again.

We didn't have any issues during our stay since we were mainly taking it slow in Kyoto. For others: It's very very quiet at night, so if you are a night owl, you might feel like every noise you make can be heard by others. Additionally, the curfew at 11pm could be an issue for anyone who might enjoy being out late.

The ryokan is about 700 m from Kyoto station, makes it very easy to reach any destination in Kyoto by bus or train. There are Family mart dan 7 eleven nearby. The owner can speak English and very nice. He also accepted cash payment if you don't have a credit card or other online payment. When we get in, he will ask us to leave our shoes on a rack at the front desk, and change it with provided sandals. The heater was on, right at the front door, so it's warm inside. We booked family room on the 2nd floor, so the room is quite spacious with 3 futon beds. The host provides tea making facility in the room, TV (Japan channels only), yukata, blankets, towels, and air humidifier, as Japan air is very dry. Bathroom is shared. On the 2nd floor there are 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets, and there are more on the 1st floor. Soap, shampoo, hairdryer, toothpaste, and toothbrush provided. There's also a small garden and small onsen on the 1st floor, right in front of the garden and laundry room. The host taught me to use the coin laundry (400 yen) and dryer (200 yen). Detergent is provided for free. For not disturbing other guests, the latest time to use washing machine is at 9.30 PM, because it will take 35 minutes to finish washing, and 4 hours to dry. However, once you start the dryer, you can leave the machine works, and take the clothings out in the morning.

The location is great within walking distance both to the train station and the city center. The owner was friendly and the ryokan very clean. We both got a yukata to use during our stay which was a super beautiful one. For a Japanese accommodation, this room was bigger than expected

For a simple accommodation like this with a shared bathroom, I find 100€ per night a bit expensive but I guess this is what you have to pay during high season. I don't know where the photo of the garden was taken as we did not see a garden there

I loved the traditional style. The owner was SO nice and always came out when you left or arrived to help you and answer all questions if you had any. The whole Ryokan was very clean and the little garden was beautiful. The location was amazing as it was only like 5-10min from Kyoto station

We had a curfew so we had to be at the Ryokan at 23:30…that was sometimes a little unfortunate and early because you had to rush home instead of decide 100% what and when to do what

There is a little lush garden in the middle of the hotel, very cozy and pretty. It's right next to the washbasins! The rooms have excellent air conditioning!

The rooms with the toilets are very small. They get excessively hot during the day in summer, and people with long legs might have issues closing the doors. Watch out: This Hotel has an 11pm curfew! No problem for early birds, but notorious night owls might struggle. Make sure to bring mosquito repellent when you come, the open, old-timey wooden architecture lends itself to these little invaders.
