Terrific location! Right opposite the Higashi Hongan-ji temple which made hotel very easy to find. The onsen (sento) facilities were great. There is a large and small onsen which alternate between days for use between men and women. The larger onsen has a nice outdoor plunge pool as well as a sauna and cold water plunge indoors. Very relaxing after a hard days sightseeing. Rooms were a good size. I was sharing a twin room. Breakfast was very nice with a selection of mostly Japanese food however there were also western style options so you won’t go hungry.

Bathrooms were compact but comfortable. It is Japan after all and space is limited.

The breakfast is great, the best we had in Japan. The coffee was good and they even had bag coffee un the room rather than instant. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The location is a quick walk to the main train station and a nice temple is just across the street. The beds were comfortable and sizeable.

The room is very small so it is hard to find space for your luggage. It is also quite dark and the room is very sparsely decorated. It's a bit of a walk (~1.5km) to the market and the funnest part of the city for going out and sightseeing. But everything is easily accessible by public transport if you prefer.

The breakfast was comprehensive and would suit every taste, the french toast was such a happy way to wake up each morning and eggs were cooked to order. The public bath (onsen) was exactly what we were wanting each day to wash away the day. Our room had a great airconditioner, the shower and toilet were separate and roomy and not one of those combined style that you find in small hotel rooms in Japan. There was plenty of room to walk around the beds and for 2 large suitcases. There was a wardrobe space as you walked in the door which was very useful for hanging up your coats etc. The beds were perfectly comfortable, but we did change our pillows which are available at reception. The rooms don't really have much of a view, but while that would have been lovely, it didn't change how we used our rooms. Opposite was an amazing Temple that needs to be seen to be believed on a wide French style boulevarde. We were close to 2 train stations to make it a really pleasant place to be. It was super easy to find. This place is absolutely worth staying at and had perfect Japanese charm as you entered. We could get anywhere we needed so easily from this location.

It was all fabulous, but spare towels in the public bath (onsen) would be convenient.

Location was excellent! Walking distance to the train station and across from a temple, which is beautiful at night. Hotel has bike rental, which is highly recommended as biking is fun and safe in Kyoto. Kyoto station is a total zoo, I was using Gojo Station which is just north of the hotel and is much less hectic. Good spicy ramen place close to Gojo Station. Breakfast pastries were amazing and the breakfast had over 20+ dishes to try. There is a open air public patio on the fifth floor that isn't advertised.

That I had to leave.

The location was great at barely a 5 min walk from Kyoto station. It was also conveniently located near bus stops going to different touristic areas. The rooms were clean and all ammenities were provided if necessary. The add-on was the (free) onsen located at the back of the hotel, where you could relax after a long day of walking. The onsen was also very clean and everything was provided so you could wash yourself before using. The staff was particularly friendly and, despite the lacking English at times, really tried everything they could to help and provide a great experience.

The only negative point I have about the hotel is that the rooms tend to be very small, especially according to European standards. There is no space to store luggage, which when travelling as a couple can be difficult.

Location was very good. Easy to find as you just need to look out for the temple opposite the hotel. Short walk to Kyoto station and bus stop. Many convenience shops & restaurants in the area. We booked the room for 5 with the temple view. There were 2 beds and 3 futons on a tatami area. Enough space for small sofa, chairs and luggages. Quite spacious by Japanese standards.

Room is cleaned on alternate days. But it wasn't kept very clean even on cleaning day. Dust under the table and on table tops. I feel this is below expectations for a Japanese Hotel. The larger bath has an indoor & outdoor area. Great for soaking aching muscles after a long day's walk but it just didn't feel as clean as other onsens we went to.

We were greeted by super friendly staff and given a seasonal and very tasty chestnut mochi ball as a welcome gift. The room was relatively small, however the separate shower/toilet and sink area made up for it as this made it easier to store toiletries and have an area to get ready in. The hotel is directly in front of a shrine, which is especially stunning at night, and the onsen is beautiful - the rock bath is so relaxing after a long day. The hotel is only a short walk from Kyoto station and the surrounding areas have plenty of shops and restaurants.

It was quite cold in the bedrooms so had to put the heater on, but after a while it was fine!

Service was excellent. The staff took really good care of me and really tried to help me with what I needed. Went out of their way and beyond. Location was perfect. It was short walk from the station to the hotel and even then, they had buses 1-2 mins in front to go where is needed. They switch the women and men baths everyday. Both were nice and I enjoyed my experience! Breakfast was good. I definitely would recommend staying here! They also have a coin laundry area, which was very helpful! I like that! Was able to wash my clothes.

Could be tight with suitcases, I had two suitcases, one medium and large and to open both, had to block the passageway, but was able to still walk, so with a bigger one, would be a bit of an issue.

I've stayed at Hotel Kuu twice now, and it exceeds my expectations each time! The staff is so warm, helpful, and hospitable. They worked with me before my arrival via messages to ensure all my questions and requests were fulfilled. I LOVE Hotel Kuu! The location from Kyoto Station is amazing and the view from my window each morning was the majestic Higashi Hongonji temple! The onsen style baths felt so decadent and the breakfast buffet was delicious and creative. The chefs outdo themselves to provide fresh, seasonal, and delicious fare each morning! I'll stay in Hotel Kuu again and again!

Beautiful location overlooking Higashi Hongan-ji Temple, and 5 minutes walk from Kyoto Station. Lovely rooms, good size and nice decor. Fantastic shower. Staff were exceptional, really helpful. Breakfast was excellent, fantastic value for money. The indoor and outdoor Onsens were very good. The hotel was extremely good value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The restaurant/bar was closed while we were there. The restaurant has great reviews and was one of the reasons we booked this hotel.
