Good location, only 100m from Mitsumata ropeway, convenient equipment rental, if not at WhiteHorse then many shops nearby. Room is clean, heater works very well, you will have a warm night sleep. I normally don't prefer carpet because of dust and cleaning is not very effective with carpet, but WH handles that with slipper area in hotel, making the carpet floor rather cleaner compared to other more expensive, higher-star, big chain hotels, which is very nice. And if you search around, there is no other place nearby with this good cleanliness rating at this price. The host is very very nice and helpful, explains thing very clearly, and with very good English. I will stay here again in my next trip to Mitsumata. And just some info for people choosing between ordinary and newly renovated room, since I got to stay in both types. The newly renovated, got a bit bigger area in the bathroom, shower enclosure, modern mixer faucet, and I guess new wash basin got kicked out into the bedroom instead lol. I didn't measure, but from guesstimation, I think the bed room got a bit smaller area because of that, but still more than enough. I am very familiar with small bedroom in various hotels in Japan, and this is quite big already for me. The ordinary room though, got the Japanese style cabinet bathroom, with build-in bath tub + shower + curtain + old style manual mixer faucet, washbasin and toilet altogether. Small area in the bathroom, and toilet (but again, I am very familiar with that, so no problem.) which makes bigger bed room. I could lie on the floor while packing my luggage lol. My ordinary room is on the front side of the hotel, I felt it was a bit colder, not sure because of old insulation or not but anyway, the heater is very good and I got no problem at all. Either type is superbly clean anyway. The common area is amazing, light cooking equipment, microwave, tables, sofa, ping-pong table. I could see other people have great time there. A really good place.

Be aware that there is no lift for people with concern on this matter. I had no problem dragging my large luggage up the stairs. Clean room and location close to ropeway is my priority. Be aware of check-in time, again I have no problem with that. The owner got system to facilitate your arrival. Just know that it's not like hotels. In case of renovation in the future, adding small onsen would be nice. My wife loves it, but didn't want to walk to Kaido in the cold. Even charging a bit more money is fine. I just saw empty land at the back, not sure whose land that was, lol. err. a bit more. The slippers are god dang slippery. they always slipped out of my feet when walking up the stairs. ahahah.

Loved the tatami room. Things were basic but clean and tidy. Really decent location to get to the slopes - it is only a 5 minute walk. The pistes were nice; great for beginner / intermediate skiers. Best is that you can take the Dragondola to go to the other valley. Owners were super nice and their daughter is soooo cute. My children enjoyed the experience.

Not much choice for food around the area. It's ok if you do not mind trekking for around 10-15 minutes to get to the nearest place for hot food. But once you get there, I think the food is very decent. It's a real shame the hotel does not provide Japanese style breakfast. We did not try the breakfast they provided because it was just continental breakfast, and it seemed a shame to fly all the way to Japan to have toast.

Location from the Ropeway was excellent! Short 15 min cab from the train station in Yuzawa. The breakfast was great! Nice common area to make a simple dinner and change into your ski gear when you arrive early or checkout and want to ski the afternoon. The owners are a husband/wife/kids and were very friendly. We had an issue with another guest at the hotel and they made a mistake, but made up for it with a free bottle of sake for us!

Room was really small but clean and adequate. Breakfast could be a half hour earlier so you have time to make the opening of the Ropeway. We wish there were more dinner options, maybe they should hire a chef and do a dinner service in their breakfast dining room?

Hotel's location is superb! You can walk to the lift in couple of minutes. The room we stayed in had a renovated bathroom (washlet and shower), the beds were big and comfortable. Also, there was a huge common space for chilling with friends and drinking.

The room didn't have much space to put your things (no cabinet or a closet). It wasn't very convenient to dry clothes after a long day of skiing. The breakfast was good (scrambled eggs, sausages, broccoli, yogurt, apple, bred, etc.), but it was exactly the same every morning. So if you are staying for couple of days - I recommend getting the breakfast (as there are no konbinis around), but if you are staying for longer (as we stayed for 6 days) you might want to consider other options.

Great location next to Mitsumata Ropeway for skiing at Kagura (or buses to Naeba and lots of other Yuzawa area resorts). Family run and very welcoming atmosphere. Renovated room was comfortable with modern bathroom. Great discounts on lift tickets for skiing and the onsen nearby.

If you can’t go out by car or cab, dinner options on site are frozen food from vending machine or cup noodle, though a kitchen is available if you want to cook for yourself. Breakfast would benefit from having more hot items (eggs and bacon would be nice).

Well-positioned, spacious guest house run by lovely helpful family. Good size family room. Kitchen facilities ok though missing some essentials such as a can opener. Do be prepared that really the only place serving fresh meal is 15 minutes walk and closes at 5.30pm sharp - we got caught out twice and had to have pot noodle and chocolate dinner. Bonus facilitates such as table tennis table. Ski equipment rented was good, and skiing in mid-April still amazing. Easy to order taxi too.

Maybe couple extra dishes and can opener in kitchen.

This isn't my first time staying at the Kagura White Horse Inn. The managers are very nice. The location is perfect. The facilities are comfortable and convenient. The breakfast is not perfect but beyond average. Everything is wonderful for a few days trip at the Kagura resort. The only disadvantage was that the dinner was very limited. Although this year the owner has made some effort to address this issue, there are still only convenient foods to eat at night if you don't want to go outside the inn to get food. Anyway, I'd like to give a 9/10 to this inn, and soon I will visit again.

Super accessible. Right across the road from the Kagura Gondola and relatively short bus ride from Echigo Yuzawa Station. Was sent instructions by the staff before hand so I greatly appreciate that. Note that the bus can be very crowded with equipment. A lot of good facilities including storage and drying room. Some vending machine options including alcohol. Room fit all four of us and it was fine for one night (though maybe we might have needed more room the longer we stayed). We had a private bathroom but mostly used the onsens nearby. Parking available too.

Not many food options. Vendy machines had some microwave meals, instant noodles and alcoholic drinks but if you may need to drive to get more variety. Might need to pick some up from the station.

The location was great for access to Kagura ski fields. The price for ski lifts were amazing and the owners are very friendly and helpful.

The location was great but given it was a 20 minute car ride to the town centre, it was quite hard to get a taxi to the lodge on our first night. Getting a taxi after dinner from Echigo-Yuzawa town centre back to the lodge can also be difficult, sometimes taxis are just unavailable and the phone to call is also unavailable. And sometimes there is quite a bit of a line for taxis at Echigo-Yuzawa station.

the location was great, just across the bus stop and Kagura ropeway, around 4 min walk. the staff was extremely kind too, and they have on site ski rental and provide discounted tickets for the ski lift. private and newly renovated bathrooms are a plus!

there are no nearby restaurants after 7pm but there are frozen dinners and cup noodles available for purchase at the front desk.
