Basic hotel with polite service. Breakfast is awesome. Hotel staff was prompt and offered us a refund for our breakfast upon hearing that we didn't have time to take it because of our travel itinerary.

The hotel rooms were a good size and bigger than expected. All amenities were located in the lobby rather than the room, but you simply grab what you need and take them up. The lobby also has free coffee and tea and the matcha au lait was really nice! The lobby also has lockers available should you need to secure your luggage if you arrive before check in time. Breakfast on the 12th floor was a stand out, but be mindful that if it's not included in your package you do have to book the day before. Very reasonably priced and plenty of options, mainly Japanese but also some western, all delicious. The hotel staff were also super helpful during our stay and the hotel was about 7 mins to the train station which made getting around super easy.

The hotel is located very close to the train station, an easy 10-minute walk. You can also easily navigate the entire city from there. There are multiple bus stops nearby. The room is very spacious for Japanese standards, and includes a heater, a fridge, an electric kettle, a coffee machine and cups. The WiFi is super stable and fast. Free warm drinks are available on the ground floor, water dispensers are on each floor.

The room was a bit too dark - I wish there were more light fixtures in the main area in the bedroom. Breakfast (which I didn’t use) is only served between 7 and 9 am, and there seem to be a lot of rules as regards the use of the restaurant.

This was a very well priced property at around $90 AUD/ night so we took 2 basic rooms. We are not talking luxury but for that price they provided more than I expected. There were washing machines, dryers and microwaves on our floor as well. And like most hotels in Japan they are looking to be eco friendly while still providing everything you need.

We arrived in time to experience the effects of the Noto Peninsula earthquake here in Nagano within an hour of checking in. The building shook, swayed and creaked but that was all - so I guess that was actually a plus for the hotel. I was happy that we were on the second floor and it also made me review what to do in this situation.

Chisun Grand Nagano seemed like a basic business hotel but was actually pretty good. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean. There were plenty of outlets to charge devices, including USB ones. They had a variety of amenities to borrow if you needed (iron, nail Clipper, etc.) as well as the standard optional amenities (toothbrush, cotton swab, razor, etc) near the front desk. There is also a coin laundry available. The breakfast buffet is good and comparable to other hotels, and had a local dish. The view from the restaurant/breakfast room is great.

There is sound that comes in from the station and the street, even on higher floors. There is a drain grate next to the tub that makes draining the tub noisy and occasion smell comes out of it. The area is near the station but tucked in a corner that seems a little out of the way, even though it’s a short walk to the station area. It feels a little bit more of a business hotel than a tourist hotel but it was still good.

Conveniently located just a couple of blocks from the main train/bus station; makes it easy to get transportation for sight-seeing. Staff is mostly Japanese speaking only but they are happy to work with you in order to communicate. Lovely, clean comfortable room. Hotel is walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shopping. Staff helped us forward our luggage to our Tokyo airport hotel and it was nice to not have to drag it around for that leg of our trip. Hotel is not a "western" experience and that is positive because we are not looking for a "western" experience in Japan.

A small fitness center would have been nice but location is so good and staff so helpful this is too minor to worry about.

This was the best value for money accommodation during my trip to Japan. Good size, clean and comfortable room, very warm in winter time. Located next to railways but it's not noisy. And I also didn't hear neighbors. The room for breakfast has a beautiful window view. And the breakfast was tasty. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful! Thank you very much! So, I had everything I needed and actually, this hotel exceeded my expectations.

I can't remember anything I didn't like that was worth mentioning.

It’s close to Nagano Station which makes it very convenient for day trips. Location is very quiet on a quiet street despite being close to Nagano Station and the surrounding plethora of conveniences such as restaurants, convenience stores, department stores. It’s walking distance also to Zenko-ji as well. Staff front reception people were always helpful. There’s also a coin laundry. It is a good combination of affordability and it was clean. The room cleaning staff are doing a marvelous job with keeping rooms clean.

The room is spacious by Japanese hotel standard. We have an upgraded room with massage chair! So was very nice after a day’s walk. Outside the room there is an ice machine which is very useful for cold drinks in the heat of summer. The hotel is only a few minutes walk to the Nagano Station. A very important point when travelling through Japan. The breakfast room is located on the top floor and food is mostly Japanese style but very fine. The hotel also provides a self service locker system where guests can lock up their luggage’s before check in /out . The hotel is within 10 minutes walk to the central station and one can also stroll along the main road leading to the beautiful Zenkoji.

We wish that we could stay longer, knowing that Nagano is such a great city to stay. Chisun Grand Nagano location is also very close to anything that you could ever image. We would absolutely stay at this property again.
