We came here with two families for a ski trip. The accommodation is near the bus station so you can go to many resorts. However, just a two minutes walk is a bus stop to take you to Happo One, the closest resort, right in front of Woody's. We loved the breakfast, the onsen and the Japanese hospitality. Our host was great and organised a taxi for us on the last day and Black Cat services for our friends.

We liked everything but some did not find the tatami very comfortable. When choosing between beds or tatami mats, make sure you understand the options. However, our host immediately tried to help our friends by bringing each person an extra mat.

I loved this place - Location, comforts, foods, bath - Everything that I needed for snow trip were there. We had breakfast included. Every meal was so hearty and tasty. We also requested for a dinner for one night which was really good! I would even consider having dinner every day there. The lodge is quite old but clean and well maintained. I loved the rustic vibe of the lodge and it was really lovely. If you are expecting modern fancy looking accomodation, this place might not be for you but give it a try! We are thinking of booking same place for next year. Proximity to bus terminal so getting around other mountains was so easy. Convenience store was 4 mins by walk - super close. Also town center was really close too.

Tbh - nothing.

Hakuba Alpine Hotel was a little gem amongst some much larger and popular hotels setup to attract English-speaking tourists. Getting to the hotel was easier just caught the bus from Nagano then a short 5-10min walk through the streets to the hotel. We found the Japanese style of the hotel amazing with everything kept incredibly clean and functioning. Photos don't do this hotel justice as many reviews have said before with the wood architecture and Winter Olympics posters on the wall great to look at. The hotel and room are kept very warm and the onsen is great to relax in after a day on the slope. The owner of the hotel is extremely hard working and always willing to answer your questions, he was very friendly and accommodating, even giving us a calendar at the end of our stay to remember the area, cant speak highly enough of Hakuba Alpine Hotel.

the drying room is a little outdated although it still works with wet snow gear dry by the next morning. The hotel is geared toward native speakers and therefore requires some translation for English speakers but this only adds to the authentic experience and I wouldn't want to change it.

This hotel is much better than the photos shown in booking.com, especially the onsen, the photos shown in booking.com needed to be updated, to show the nice and clean onsen. The dinner and breakfast provided by the hotel, is the best Japanese meals my family ever had, It's very delicious and fresh, we enjoyed and finished everything in our plates. The onsen is not big but very nice, it has 2 onsen - one outdoor and one indoor, both are very warm and fantastic feel, especially after ski.

The location of the hotel is ok, it's convenience to get the the Lawson across the street, but it will taxi/shuttle to/from train station or ski resort, I wish shuttle service will be provided in the future. However, the hotel owner is very helpful to call the taxi for us in our transportation needs.

Great location, close enough to everything but not bothered by noise. Room was lovely and a good size. Having an onsen was a huge bonus. Food was delicious every day, wish we’d just booked full board instead of only doing a couple of dinners. The owner was really helpful and kind. The room also had hot water for tea etc and a fridge which was great. Bathrooms are typical small unit bathrooms, but liked having an extra sink outside it so we had space to spread out our bits and pieces.

The room is spacious and has wonderful views. Gorgeous breakfast and dinner, like we are eating at fine dining every meal. 3mins to ski shop and 4 mins to bus terminal, 5mins to Lawson. The hotel has the place to store our ski boots and boards. And of course, they have wonderful onsen, indoor and outdoor! I got there with the Tokyo airport shuttle bus, door to door, completely hassle free!

Great location in the center of Happo One, just a short walk up to the Bus Terminal where you can easily catch shuttle bus to different ski resorts. This family run hotel has lovely rooms, and the meals are always excellent. A nice breakfast (Japanese and Western) sets you up for the day, and you have the option to book dinner (excellent Japanese style with seasonal local produces ). We booked dinner for our entire stay and the food has succeeded beyond our expectations. The hotel is cozy, neat and scrupulously clean, with a comfortable onsen area. Dry room facilities are quite good, with plenty of space. They also have onsite laundry. We have visited twice and have always enjoyed every aspect of the hotel's service, which is unfailing helpful and courteous. Highly recommended.

We have never found anything to dislike about this hotel.

Hakuba Alpine Lodge was amazing, central to buses and ski fields and restaurants, the owner was amazing, breakfasts where a delight and experience, the girls especially loved them. We also booked a special Japanese dinner, one of our best dining experiences EVER in our life. Will definitely stay there again! Ohhhh yes the Onsen was amazing after big days skiing 10/10 experience

The owner is very polite, food is amazing, different style of Japanese breakfast and dinner each day. Have outdoor and indoor onsen, coin laundry and vending machines. Very close to Happo bus station, can use free shuttle to the ski lifts and other Happo Valley resorts.

Not really. Not used to sleep on floor. The futon is a bit hard and the blanket is a bit short for us, we are 1.70-ish.

Excellent helpful staff. Great location. Very traditional. Make sure you are comfortable to sleep on tatami if you pick that style of bedding. Breakfast is great, very Japanese though so most western kids won’t enjoy it (unless they like cold fish). Nice onsen too.

Was a great spot, no complaints.
