Oomukou really made our stay in Hakuba an amazing experience! The warm and welcoming atmosphere at this place is unbelievable. Our japanese room was super cozy and spacious. The Japanese and the Western breakfast were excellent and gave us the perfect start of the day before skiing. The onsen facilities were great after a long skiing day, and we enjoyed them every afternoon followed by a cup of tea from the free amenities. The hospitality was second the none, and our host was really helpful with local recommendations and booking assistance. The location was perfect, a short walk to the Happo One ski lifts, several restaurants and the Rythm ski rental shop. We are happy to give Oomukou our best recommendations - do not hesitate to stay here! :-)

Oomukou was spacious and clean, the onsen was perfect after a long day in the cold, breakfast and dinner was amazing while it was available. Mama Yoko was really sweet, she provided guests with fresh bakes and light snacks with cocoa and tea, available for self serve at the lobby.
I was a little disappointed with the meals availability on weekends only but understood that they are probably short handed to carter dinner everyday.

Oomukou Ryokan is conveniently located in the hart of Hakuba village. It's close to many great cafes and restaurants, ski rental stores, and convenient stores and you can access them on foot. You can also walk to Happo-One ski resorts on foot. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a very charming lodging which provided comfortable stay for all of us. The hotel has the space where kids could hang out on a tatami area and adults could sit and chat in the front lobby.
I would say there was nothing we didn't like about this place. It may seem a bit dated, but the inside of the hotel was charming and very cozy and the temperature was kept at a comfortable level the whole time. The onsen is rather small, but it was clean and served the purpose.

"It's a small family-run hotel. The rooms are spacious enough for 3 people, with futon bedding on tatami mats. It's not far from the bus terminal. The bathroom and toilet are shared but very clean. There's a hot and cold water dispenser on the 1st floor, and a dry room in the basement. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, but it's advisable to book in advance. You can also have your luggage sent to the accommodation in advance with prior notice."

Staying at a Ryokan is a wonderful experience, great to know the Japanese traditional lifestyle. Our room was bigger here than anywhere else in Japan, with very comfortable beds and pillows, and great tatami area. The staff was amazingly kind, warm and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. About the location: walking distance to Happo one and to Happo station where we took the bus to other ski resorts. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.
We did not have any problem with this but we believe future hosts should know: the showers for rooms with shared bathroom are also typical Japanese: they are separate for men and women, but two showers lie side to side with no visual separation.

Staff super friendly n kind especially when we need to skip our breakfast one of the day, they've packed a hearty breakfast + fruits for us to eat on the bus/train. Very near to The Happo Hotel, convenient to hop on free bus n rhythm for rentals
Will be good if second level has own toilet. Bathroom kinda small for ladies.

The breakfasts were amazing - a great start to our ski days. Western and Japanese options were both good. You won’t go hungry. Staff were very friendly and went above and beyond. Location was prime, well situated between Happo-one Bus Terminal and Happo-one ski lifts. 300m from the Bus Terminal, connecting to all Hakuba Valley Ski resorts. 500m to the nearest Happo-one ski lifts. Discounted Happo-one day pass offered.
Small onsen which can be busy at the end of the ski day, but okay if you don’t mind sharing or waiting.

Our stay felt like a home away from home. Host is extremely gracious, breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the coffee was great. I had the women's onsen all to myself the couple times I used it (so reviving after a long ski day!). The laundry machine was a big help. The ryokan is located close to the Happo bus stop and a very short walk from the Happo gondola. We loved having tea and cookies on the tatami. If we're lucky enough to return to the Hakuba area this will be our first choice of accommodation.

We had room 210, very nice view of mountains and tree. Breakfast was very good. Wifi excellent. Location is good, in walking distance to Happo busstation (5 mins)and also to Habuka trainstation (15/20 mins). The friendly host speaks very good english.
The Japanese seats were lovely, but a bit hard to get up from with our old bones, Quite expensive compared to other ryokans we stayed in, but I think the whole town is a bit overpriced.
