The staff was excellent. Everyone was very helpful and it was comforting to have some English speaking staff on board. The onsen was great. The afternoon happy hour was a good way to chat with other guests. Received very useful tips on where to ski under different conditions from an English speaking staff member. Got lots of help with choosing and booking dinners…… wonderful staff. Location is great with being 2-3 minutes walk to the chair lift. And an easy 5 minute walk to town.

The windows could not be opened for fresh air- it gets stuffy in the room.

Staff were very friendly and buffet breakfast was good. Lots of selection and bonus points for the waffle maker! Good area/drying room for all your snowboard and ski gear. On-site onsen is the best, nothing better after a long day. Nice little cosy hangout area with tables and couches. We personally found the location excellent. Nearest ski lift is under 5min walk away (can buy slightly discounted lift passes at reception) and a selection of bars and restaurants under 10 minutes walk away.

Pillows were a little small and it would be nice to have more hooks around the room to hang jackets/jumpers etc.

The location of the Rosenheim was fantastic close to the Nakiama chairlift and the HP1 and HP2 bus stop. We only realised towards the end of our stay the shuttle bus to Hakuba 47. We appreciated the food in the restaurant and every night different happenings including Mochi pounding and Sushi making. The space in our room was large. Most of all we appreciated the family who ran the hotel who went beyond our expectations in providing customer service, we also wanted to acknowledge all the staff both the receptionists and Hirosan who was the driver, equipment fitter, chef and other roles. Acknowledgement to the housekeeping team as well as after a day in the slopes it was so nice to get into our room and have everything so neat and laid out when we returned. We had one day off the slopes but needed waterproof boots to do an activity and the hotel team were able to provide for our family.

Happy hour around the fire each night was so much fun, thank you. Location is amazing, so close to lift and the town. Fell in love with the onsen :-) Thank you again so, so much for finding my daughters toy in the laundry so quickly on the last night, amazing service!

We were travelling with 2 other groups and gave our room numbers at the bar each time we ordered drinks, but there seemed to be a mixup on the last night on who owed what. Maybe the system of putting drinks on a room's tab could be better. With the mixup we ended not getting our last round of drinks. We had just come from the restaurant however and the meal and service was great. I apologise that us Australians and our 4 kids were so loud! Thanks for the shuttle for the bus stop when we left. Even though we had booked it twice I think it had been forgotten, so maybe a better system there could be employed. Just a suggestion, as when we asked about the shuttle someone went and got it straight away for us.

Overall the Rosenheim is a great place to stay. It's walkable to the gondola and a very short walk to one of the chairlifts servicing the mountain (though it wasn't in operation when we stayed in late December. The staff is helpful and the breakfast that was included was great. The onsen was also very nice!

Just know that if you don't speak Japanese the amount of help you can get from the front desk staff is limited as they didn't seem to employ any English speakers regularly (unlike many other options in Hakkuba). So for instance, when the mountain was closed (due to lack of snow and high winds one day) and we were trying to figure out the shuttle to get to a place that was open we tried asking the front desk. While the front desk tenant tried her absolute best it was hard to communicate, whereas an English speaking receptionist could have easily explained all of the shuttle options. Rooms are a bit tight but that's pretty normal here.

Perfect location. In house outdoor onsen looking directly up HAPPO One. 3 generations of an awesome, caring, generous family running the hotel. Happy hour daily 4-6pm with genuine local Japanese foods/nibbles provided. the Friday buffet is crazy good, biggest breakfast in Japan free when you stay, huge dinner selection, discounted lift passes, air conditioning, shuttle pick up/drop off is free locally. without a doubt the best value for money, friendliness, location, cleanliness in Hakuba. the view from my window was postcard picture perfect!!!!! I’ll be back in 2024 without a doubt:)

I should have stayed longer than the 17 days I was there for.

The Rosenheim was a quaint family run hotel. We travelled to Hakuba to ski for the first time and picked this hotel based on it location to the snow fields and shuttles. The breakfast was very good and i liked the mix of Japanese and western dishes offered. Breakfast was only served in a small time frame but really enough time if you are heading out to ski anyway. We ate dinner in the hotel one night and it was very good tasty food. Over all the hotel was very clean along with all their linens and towels. The Onsen was a great experience and also very clean. The young staff were helpful but in general information was very limited. The space provided to Storing luggage and all ski gear is really organised. It is a close walk to 10-15min to Echoland.

I didn't like arriving after midnight and that no one was available to help with check in. I know it's an inconvenient time however i think it makes a big difference when someone is there to greet you on arrival. Information was limited. For a first timer you really need to get your head around how the shuttle buses work and the timing. Walking to the closest shuttle service wasn't difficult but not ideal for me. There was one shuttle that pulled up in front of the hotel and that is Hakuba 47 shuttle.

Breakfast incorporated variety. Location to Nakiyama Ski Lift was good. Location to Nakiyama Hakuba Valley Bus was very good - only a short walk.

Breafast should extend hours eg open earlier to allow guests to walk to first lifts or Hakuba Valley bus. Front office staff could be a little more approachable - also able to explain the purchase of ski pass effectively. Took me 1 hour to get this sorted.

Rooms are western style with normal beds and adjustable heating, comfy and quiet. Location is good, close to ski lifts and just 5 min walk to restaurants. Onsen has both indoor and outdoor pools and even a jacuzzi like small pool with jets. Breakfast buffet had a good selection of both japanese and western style food, quality quite ok. Staff speaks good english and was responsive.

The onsen bathing area could have been warmer, the pools themselves were nice and hot. The sauna room is best avoided, an unusual construction and not very warm or comfortable. Staff was responsive but more businesslike than friendly.

Loved it here and would happily stay again. The hospitality and service were excellent. Our room was a great size with a gorgeous view. The Onsen beautiful with an outside open air bath as well inside baths and sauna. Its true some of the furnishings and wall paper and not the most current interior designs, but I loved this and the fun retro vibe it adds to the homieness. This place has the comforts of a big hotel but with the warmth of a family run business.

Nothing.
