Great location, staff and facilities. Very comfortable and made the trip easy. Hotel provides private shuttles to several mountains which is handy and helped with booking restaurants. Being able to communicate via WhatsApp was amazing. Other excellent things - bar, Onsen on site to use after a day on the slopes. Took us a little bit of time to warm to Hakuba being so western but by the end of the week, we got a better feel for all the other great things you get so would return and stay at The Happo.

Great to have all the English speaking staff but we did miss getting a Japanese experience and felt it was very western. We did not hear any Japanese in the hotel at all. Hakuba on the whole is very western compared to other resorts we have visited in Japan. The breakfast could include a Japanese option for example. The Happo website should add all the great things they provide like details of the shuttle buses etc. and that they help with restaurant bookings. I only found these details out months after booking, but may attract more people by sharing details on the website.

The hotel is clean, modern and very comfortable. Great location with the ability to walk to many nearby restaurants and shops. We had a family room which was very comfortable for us. Comfortable beds, well lit rooms and bathroom had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Easy access to the basement storage area to keep our ski and snowboarding equipment. Excellent staff who responded quickly to WhatsApp messages and helped us book restaurant reservations and offered sightseeing suggestions. The hotel group has shuttle services to many destinations- you just need to book them as they can fill up quickly.

I wish the coffee at breakfast was better! But other than that, no complaints.

All the staff were exceptional, very happy and accommodating, nothing was a problem, more than keen to assist with transfers & bookings. Great location, very central. The hotel provides transfers to Hakuba Group restaurants & Happo One Ski Resort, so convenient. We stayed in a Family room which is perfect for a family of 4, very spacious & well layed out. Definitely will be back 👌🏻

The restaurant was a bit over priced for what you get, but there are so many other restaurant options all around Happo.

The hotel is brand new, very nicely decorated and really confortable. It is walking distance to Happo lifts. Really nice onsen, breakfast quite good as well. Home made dishes, quite a few options and all we tried we liked it. Also good espresso coffee machine which is not really usual in this conutry. Staff frendly and helpful.

Only as a suggestions. Woulb be nice to have some hot milk at the breakfast for the morning coffee. they however brought me from the coffee shop every morning when I requested and that was very nice. Would be also very nice to have shuttle to iwatake as it is not far and nice to have.. but they give you a lift to the bus terminal where you can take the bus so not that bad as well.

Room was large - facilities were clean and design of the place was amazing. The onsen facilities, was top notch. We went pre-summer, so not peak season, so had the onsen to ourselves. There were showers, onsen and a sauna. One staff member was nice and helpful and assisted with some local bookings. It's also next to a bike/board shop for rental.

There didn't appear to be the option to get a shuttle from the train station (which is super far, when you're attempting to walk uphill for 1.5kms) pushing luggage. When we got there however, there was a sign with numbers that you could have called - information would have been useful prior to check in. Also, there is NOT a kettle in the room. NONE. There's a water bottle outside that spouts hot water, but definitely not hot enough to make tea or coffee or anything else. So plan accordingly - we requested a kettle multiple times, but staff were adamant that one could not be provided (and used by/for staff only).

Breakfast and onsen with sauna was great. Could have left laundry detergent out available instead of requesting each time needed. Friendly staff.

It was a shame reception told us to go to the bus terminal to catch the HV bus to go to Goryu valley plaza/ Imori. We had to pay 510 yen per adult per trip. Then to realise that there’s a free direct shuttle bus service with the bus stop right outside of the hotel. We only found out this on our last day. Would of been better service if we were directed correctly since we’ve trusted your staff on their advice.

It was new, spacious, modern and comfortable. The staff there is super friendly and helpful. We are so glad to have Joe and Joey to help us upon our arrival. They gave us many great tips and advice to spend our time in Hakuba and they even helped us to book everything. Feels like at home in this hotel and our kids said this is the best hotel ever in our 11 days trip in Japan. Breakfast is fantastic and worth the price! Thanks Hiro for cooking for us and Laura for the suggestions of site seeing. We will be back again!!

Beautiful property that is close to Happo One and Happo Bus Station to go to other mountain resorts. It was very clean and spacious with excellent amenities. We enjoyed the included daily breakfast and onsite Onsen. I communicated with staff at the front desk and on Whats App, and all my questions were answered promptly.

I wish there were some Japanese food options for breakfast.

We had a fabulous stay here at the Happo! Everything in hotel including room+bathroom and onsen was definitely newly upgraded! We requested pick up and drop off at train station, which was provided! The breakfast was perfect for a full day at the mountain, it wasn’t really a buffet but more order off a menu for main entree and buffet for extras (croissant, toast, cheese, meat, yogurt and salad. Coffee was from a fancy machine, delicious! The Happo one lift was about a 15 min walk from the front door. There was a store across the hotel for equipment rentals and sales, we had our board waxed for $15. There is a basement floor to store all equipment. The onsen was seperate men from women and super clean, it provided everything you would need (towels and amenities). Although it was a bit pricey to stay…we loved staying here and would come back!

Hotel staff didn’t seem too knowledgeable about the area outside of the tiny town it’s in for recommendations of what to do other than snow activities.

extremely good location with great food around friendly and helpful staff. very clean cozy onsen facility and well-equipped room lockers available in the dry room towards the pricier end but with with the convenience, service and location - it is all worth it
