The staff was very kind and helpful. I was not sure when I would be arriving and was reassured that they would wait for me during check-in times. I ended up being there an hour before the official check-in time and they checked me in without any problems, were really sweet and gave me lots of recommendations on sightseeing spots! They also hand out a city map with suggested routes and itineraries which was really helpful in addition to what I had already planned. The bed was comfortable and the little capsule is spacious enough to change in there, have all your belongings with you and is really cozy. The location is great and close to tram stations, Nagasaki station, the bus terminal and many restaurants are in walking distance. The 26 Martyr museum is right across the street, with a great view from the hostel of the museum and church.
Everything was great but the kitchen being located right next to the beds is a bit inconvenient. If you want to get up early and make breakfast, you might wake the others. However, at a reasonable time I don't think it should be a problem.

Wonderful couple who own the place and staff. Awesome bike rental available. Lovely capsules. Adorable vibe with all the decorations they've put up and lots of helpful pamphlets.
The loud snapping and unsnapping of doorlocks would maybe be my only recommendation to try and soften the sound of people coming and going a little bit :)

Very lovely and clean hostel, you get your own little cabin which was surprisingly big. The host was very nice, also prepared a cute breakfast. It was also very convenient that you could rent bikes immediately from the Hostel, they had the best collection of rental bikes I've seen in Japan, also the first time I had a rental bike that was not too small for me since I'm quite tall. E-bike is recommended as Nagasaki has many hills and you will get around much faster and with less sweat. If I come again to Nagasaki I will be coming back to Route.

Lovingly designed, cozy hostel with attention to detail. You immediately feel at home. The five available beds are in individual cabins, so there is a relatively high level of privacy. Incredibly nice owners, who also have recommendations for the neighbourhood. Good breakfast can be booked a day in advance.
As is often the case with hostels - sometimes noisy. The toilet and shower unit is in the same room as the bed units, which is impractical because you might wake up the whole room if you have to get up early. Would still come back in a heartbeat.

Extremely friendly and helpful English speaking host. Solo rooms are larger than capsules but smaller than a tiny room. Very close to station which is the starting point of many trips. Although you have to use an overhead pedestrian crossing. Tip: there is an elevator from the bridge to ground level if you have luggage. Possibility to rent e-bikes which I didn't explore.
Stairs narrow could be a problem with luggage. Toilet extremely cramped. (Only writing about solo rooms, there are family rooms.)

We loved staying at route. We had a cabin that we could lock. Every amenity we needed they had. The breakfast we delicious and very relaxing. The staff was super helpful and gave us some insider tips about Nagasaki. We would have loved to use the (very cheap) bike service but it was Raining too much. Overall I would 10/10 stay again!
Only downsides are the hike from the station. It’s very close but a bit up the hill. Also the place is a bit cramped but it’s manageable.

The location is very convenient, just a 5 minute walk to the bus terminal and less than 10 minutes to the railway station. The hostel is nicely decorated and has many brochures about sights to visit in Nagasaki and surrounding areas. Check in was easy and available in the after hours. Breakfast was delicious although not included in the price.
I think some clear house rules should be established. Is it normal that people are using the hairdrier at midnight when other guests wish to sleep?

Great view of the church nearby, close to the subway and bus station, the owner was very helpful in giving us advice on what to do in Nagasaki. The rooms are more like capsules with foldaway doors. I liked that all the amenities were in the same area, kitchen and sitting area.
The doors are thin so the capsules are not sound proof. There is a sitting area but its a bit small. There is not a lot of room in the capsules for two people with big travel backpacks, I would suggest booking separate beds not on the same booking, we booked two beds so were in a single capsule together (bunk bed style) and its was very cramped.
