My stay at HOSTEL WASABI Nagoya Ekimae was satisfactory. The hostel's convenient location near the train station made exploring the city effortless. The sleeping area was surprisingly spacious, providing a comfortable rest after a day of sightseeing. Additionally, the complimentary black coffee and tea were a delightful bonus, adding to the overall experience.

Opening and arranging items in your luggage proved challenging due to the limited space provided. Additionally, the room lacked the tranquility needed for a peaceful rest, as other guests often snored, coughed loudly, or whistled. However, it's important to note that this is a shared space, and such disturbances are not attributable to the property itself.

I stayed in the women only section for 1 night only. It was a very comfortable experience. The staff were very friendly. The bed was cozy once i got in lol! It's close to the jr station though which was very convenient since i keep on moving.

The only thing that bothered me a little bit was the location of my bed. Since it is a bunk bed situation, i got a top bunk in the corner of a room. The ladder was kinda hard to climb, cause it was partially blocked by a wall. Other than that it was very nice.

This hostel is extremely affordable and given the cost I was expecting lower than average accommodation. I was pleasantly surprised at how great this hostel was! This is the first capsule hotel I have stayed at in japan that did not have curtains that entirely blocked the airflow. It was nice and cool in the hottest month in Japan. Overall, wonderful experience.

There is no common area and the kitchen is lacking, which is unlike most hostels I have previously stayed at. If you just need a place to stay for a few days then I can recommend this place, not for those looking for an experience more befitting a backpacker.

Excellent staff. Helpful with booking my night bus, cancelling one night stay, purchase of subway day tickets at their desk. The night bus lounge is at the accommodation was very handy to use the facility for personal work or waiting for the night bus. Free coffee, tea, miso soup was yummy. VERY clean! Amongst all the Japan hostel stays, my allergies did not get excited at all here. Toilets, shower cubicles and powder room are tip top.

One great English speaking staff when on duty. They rest can be hard to communicate. Downstairs customer toilet can be a bit smelly during the day but they clean it a few times a day. It is a busy hostel after all.

I really enjoyed the central location of the guest house as well as the complimentary drink bar they had. The facilities were very clean and modern, and the dormitory floors were themed with really exquisite wall paper of trendy Animes!

The last check in time for this guest house is a bit early in my opinion, around 11pm if I recall. For example, I arrived on a bus a few kilometers from the guest house quite late at night while being a bit lost/disoriented and I was worried I may have been denied checking in to the facility. So a late night (12am-2am) front desk staff person would be a great addition for this guest house in the future.

The staff was very friendly, very responsive ( because a few disrespectful guests were staying at the time I was) facilities were cleaned daily. Location is excellent being just a short walk from Nagoya station, which is excellent if you are coming in by bullet train. You also have access to alot of the public transit and due to the fact it is near Nagoya station, busses often stop near here. Usually about a 5 minute walk from the bus stops I used to get back after a late night. Room came with a TV so you can watch some Japanese news , which I thought was a nice addition from other places I stayed. Room was clean and cozy and they have an awesome One piece painting in the bathroom which as a fan I enjoyed. They have a small library of Mangas for those wishing to have a late night read before bed. Overall I loved this place and would gladly stay here again.

The only negative experience I had was due to other guests not following the rules. But a quick message to the hotel staff and the situation was quickly dealt with. Other than that I don't have any major complaints or issues.

Great location, comfortable beds. I was checking in a bit later than I suppose to and the employee called me to make sure everything is OK.

The key lock for a code is located right out the ladies dormitory on 5th floor, which mean if I want to use a restroom and then come back I need to I put the correct code. It's not an issue during the day ( I carry the info with the code everywhere) but if I want to use the bathroom in the middle of the night it might be broblematic. I almost lock myself out. Apart from that the wasabi hotel is great.

Clean, comfy and an excellent bathroom. I love that the bed is in a sort of cubby, not great for anyone with claustrophobia but I found it very cozy. The bathroom has a large lighted mirror separate from the sinks with stools for those who wear makeup or need to do their hair.

The only downside is it isn't very secure during reception open hours, the front door is unlocked at this time. There's no room or floor key. It's entirely possible to just walk in and up. Ideally someone at the front desk would stop them but sometimes there isn't anyone and with so many beds that's a lot of people to remember. I'd recommend a key card ready in the elevator.

There have been a few changes due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the staff were very helpful in guiding me through the new procedures, in spite of a slight language barrier. The capsules are still very comfy and the communal facilities are kept clean at all times. I particularly like the fact that the main light in the capsules room is turned out at night, and luggage is securely kept outside of the capsules room, so there aren't any problems with people talking loudly or repacking their cases after midnight like I have experienced at some capsule hotels. The showers have great pressure and temperature, and there is a free hot drinks machine; both of which really helped me to wake up when I had to be up before 5am for my coach to Tokyo. The location is fantastic - very close to Nagoya station for local trains and the Shinkansen. Or, if you want a cheaper mode of transport, coaches to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka all stop on the main road about 5 minutes' walk from the hotel. There are loads of delicious restaurants around the station and in the area around the hotel.

Pre-pandemic, it used to be possible to store luggage at the hotel before check-in. Due to coronavirus, the hotel is now completely closed between 11am and 3pm. Large and medium lockers for suitcases are located in the station, but they get taken very early. By the time I got there at 11:30, there weren't any lockers big enough for my carry-on suitcase. Luckily, Takashimaya in the station has a luggage storage facility which is open until about 8pm.
