Staff friendly, close to all amenities, good breakfast

Coffee stains on the carpet in the room, paid for parking in hotel and could not get a space, coffee at breakfast had a weird bitter taste.

The room was ok but rather small as was the bathroom. As we were only staying one night it didn't matter too much. Having said that it was lovely and clean. Dinner was the biggest disappointment, we waited over an hour and it was NOT AT ALL good when it did arrive in fact for what it cost it was pretty poor. Breakfast though was great.

The one thing that I didn't like was the lack of staff. The staff did their best but they can't be in two places at once and they can only do one job at a time. This is NOT what I expected from a four star hotel. I would very much like to hear your comments.

The jacuzzi in the spa was out of order and had been so for a while according to other regular users. The food service wasn't great. The first night we waited nearly an hour for the starter for our meal before we asked to cancel the order and left. However, when I did complain at the desk when we left the next day, we were offered complimentary hot drinks with our brunch order - the toast took so long to arrive that the tea and coffee would have been cold if we had waited. We were the only people in the bar ordering food as the breakfast service had finished. We couldn't quite work out why it took so long to toast some bread!

Staff were helpful and friendly. Accommodation was comfortable and clean. Tasty food. Good location.

Owing to an agency chef, menu was limited the first night. That, in itself, wasn't a problem as the food was good, but breakfast the next morning, was a problem. Long queue waiting for basic cooked breakfast, no pastries, shortage of crockery, etc. Disappointing because always been excellent in the past. Looking forward to breakfast being back to its normal standard tomorrow as tonight's meal was great- chef back in action.

I liked how there’s a pool which is great for family breaks. Food was great and staff were all very friendly and professional. From staff at reception, housekeeping to restaurant staff, they were all 10/10. The bedrooms were clean. Location is great. No parking issues. The food (breakfast) was really good and staff made sure to top up regularly. Great choice even for fussy eaters. Hot food was served at the right temperatures. Decorations are quite nice.

Broken skirting boards in one of my rooms and that’s not safe nor is it appropriate for family rooms where young children can easily get injured. Sofa beds aren’t comfortable but in fairness the actual beds are very comfortable. Closing time for the pool is listed as 8pm but we were told we had to be out no later than 7:45pm. Maybe they should reflect this on the information they provide. The hot tub wasn’t working and that was such a shame.

Great location. Couple of mins walk to the beach, and plenty of things to do and see. It was also nice to access the gym, pool, and Steam room at pretty much any time. We enjoyed the breakfast and had a good mixture of things to choose from. The room was clean and tidy and we especially liked the use of two lifts up to our floor. - it was quick and easy, and we never waited long for the lift to arrive. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. I liked the position as it was close to someone we were visiting but also it was easy to walk to the beach and it was very close to the open commons areas. I also liked the swimming pool. The choices for breakfast were great although I was not so fond of the coffee but that would be a personal choice as others were drinking it. All the staff we dealt with were very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and we both liked the shower which was great.

I was a little disappointed that they had no tourist information leaflets about places and activities in Southsea and Portsmouth as the tourist information office was quite a walk away on The Hard. I also had a problem with the television as I am deaf and it was not possible to have subtitles but I know that this would not be a problem for the vast majority of guests.

Staff were mostly friendly, especially bar and breakfast service staff. The room was fairly comfortable. The breakfasts were great, although timing is key to get a soft fried egg! Location makes visiting local attractions easy with most being within walking distance.

Extra £5 a night for parking, which is also limited (but to be fair, this is highlighted in the booking information). Although the room was comfortable, it was a bit 'tired', and as the ensuites are quite small, accessing the bath to use the shower can be a bit hazardous for those of us of bigger build!

Breakfast was good, lots of choice: continental and fool english breakfast. Shower was very good and bathroom was filled with essentials.

Coffee maker was not working properly. Shower tray seems had a stain or a mark. Not sure was it from wear or not cleaned properly. It would be nice to have some useful hooks in the bathroom to hang used bathrobe or clothes for changing. And it steamed a lot, perhaps needs better ventilation...
